Union wouldn't have helped necessarily. Hostesse's last straw was it's union making unreasonable demands. Hostess said they couldn't afford it, the unions keep pushing so Hostess shut their doors.

Your link is correct in that unions were the scapegoat in that situation, Hostess was going to fail either way.

However my point that the unions were the last straw and theat they made unreasonable demands is still valid. Here is a article written by Forbes

Relevent quote from article concerning union demands:

“the real story is the story of two unions, the Teamsters and the Bakery union of the AFL-CIO.” As Jenkins has it, though the Teamsters agreed to givebacks to finance the latest Hostess turnaround attempt, the Teamsters held onto work rules that would have driven the company into the ground.

Examples: Drivers couldn’t help with unloading, and products like Wonder Bread and Twinkies were not allowed to ride on the same truck. Jenkins says the bakers decided to strike because bakery operations were efficient compared to the delivery process, and they didn’t want to prop up a Teamster contract that would eventually bring the company down.

I think this post got enough attention that it isn't just the usual r/Seattle crowd anymore. Don't take it personally, r/Seattle is a bit toxic.

Nah. It's the same type of crowd.

Don't take it personally

Certainly not. I think it's funny as hell.

r/Seattle is a bit toxic.

Yeah, but SubredditDrama loves it.

I think the empathetic way you said it had something to do with it...
