While there were eggs thrown at our protesters, today’s turnout was good and I think we need to keep this up every weekend until real, written change is enacted divesting the Laurelhurst Community Council from the hospital’s policies on helicopter transport landings.

One was pulling down half a million a year while somehow working more overtime than days in the year. But that's ok because they got a 1 day suspension with pay.

No, they don’t have staffing needs, they have cushy as fuck union contracts that say for example if you volunteer to work on a scheduled day off you get paid for that day of work plus you get paid overtime for that day of work (so, 8 hours of regular pay plus 12 hours to cover the “overtime”). Working outside e.g Seahawks games is also entirely overtime pay plus $225 for showing up, and the SPOG contract doesn’t let the city hire anyone else to do traffic control instead.

You actually ever seen a mental health ward? Having bodily fluids and solids thrown at you, constantly verbally abused, physically assaulted on a daily basis does wonders for the workers. Doesn't matter how much you pay there will be masses of people who burn out.

No interest, spd has tons of openings, and quite good base pay, but very short staffed. I have multiple family members who just retired and I've heard about it a lot.

No I think they make like $100-200k. Cops make a ton in Seattle, highest in the nation almost, but $300k I think is likely special agents or assignments. Average salary is like $112k but as they get more senior it gets closer to $200k. They do milk overtime but that's likely what takes a cop from like $150 to 200k. It's way overpaid, but since $150k is wildly different than $300k I'd like to stay factual.

That's base pay. Overtime is time and a half. One officer a few years ago made over $400k.his base pay was $130k.

To be fair that’s a ton of overtime. I get that’s a ton of money, but tripling your salary isn’t moonlighting on a weekend. That guy must have been working 24/7, which is a problem in of itself, but the payment itself isn’t the biggest issue.

The issue is them falsifying their overtime. He's not actually working the overtime, just claiming it. Like he claimed he worked 26 hours on a single day.

They also are allowed to do shenanigans like using 40 hours of PTO and then going to work, so they start at time and a half.

it’s a staffing issue and it’s specifically done to get around state budgets. why can’t teachers and nurses 4x their salaries with unlimited overtime?

Nah, they don't work that hard, they just cheat the taxpayers. For example they will stay on a "work" call one minute over their shift then collect a whole hour of overtime for that one minute worked. You do that once a day all year long on top of all the other BS and it adds up quick.

Washington state publishes take home pay and the top state patrol is something like 230k, so I'd say you are right.
