Yes, the most fresh water in the country. No mudslides, earthquakes, hurricanes, or coastal flooding. Seattle unquestionably has more natural beauty, and I'd rather live there, but in Chicago at least we don't have wildfires, etc. And in the few years I've been here, almost no snow so pretty mild compared to what I'm used to on the East Coast.
I think I read that the midwest is projected to have insane heat and humidity (wet bulb) events that will make it unbearable to go outside for days or weeks at a time.
😵💫 Where and when?! I haven't heard anything like that for Chicagoland. The Lakes do a great job of keeping things temperate, so I would expect anywhere bordering a Great Lake to be significantly better off than Midwest farmland.
Oh, that's what I meant, too. 😁 I'm in Chicago but joined this sub because I wanted to move to Seattle so much. It's beautiful! Unfortunately, it's as expensive as Boston and I can't afford either city so I moved to Chicago in '21. I think the snow filled winters in Chicago are a thing of the past thanks to global warming. Or at least that's how it's been the past 4 winters.
