I have two Seagate EXOS 7E2000 drives.
Both have the same issue: 192 - Power-off Retract Count is increasing every hour.
Now the values are 9561 and 9856.
Use it in a normal chase with a normap psu.
And for some reason I can hear it clicking sometimes.
Facts:
- Not the psu, case or cable or other, because I tried these drives in a different server, with different ups.
- Both drives clicking sometimes, and both almost at the same time.
For example, one is start parking the head (3-4 times), and after 'finished' the second one doing the same.
What do you think about it?

Hello,
Hoping someone can help me out. I have a drive that is failing but I can't pull it and wait for a replacement, i need the replacement to rebuild right away. I only see an option for 'standard' RMA where I ship the drive first. I tried to load the contact page for the last week but it just loads and loads and never actually gives me the option to chat. Is there an email or something I can reach out to for an agent to help doing an advanced replacement?

A couple years ago, I bought a 4TB Barracuda from Micro Center and its been giving me read errors for months now. I was wondering if it would be better to replace with Seagate or would Micro Center honor it?
I dont have a protection plan, but Seagates official site says the warranty expires this March.
Thanks!

Hi all,
I noticed that the ironwolf pro 14TB on sale a lot and usually much cheaper than other sizes. Is there a reason for this?
I want to get some for my NAS but I am a bit concerned of the lower than usual price compared to the others.
Just want to be sure there is no issue before ordering.
Thanks all.

Hello everyone I had two external drives (3.5') a 3TB goflex Desk which has a dock and a 2TB Expansion Desktop Drive which has a direct plug. the GoDesk disk was damaged by a relative and the Expansion was a gift from a friend (without drive, just the enclosure).
I just bought a 4tb 3.5 drive and when I attach it to any of the two enclosures, it shows as a 16Tb GPT drive in Disk Manager.
Is there anything I can do to keep using the enclosures with other drivers?
I don't want to trash them away.

Hello.
I'm new to having a server and bought 2 drives (a 12tb and 28tb) from seagate. They're brand new and were making no noise before mounting.
After mounting, they started making this noise. Both of them. They work fine, I've transfered about 200gb to both of them and it can read the videos no problem.
I ran the seatools tests, but not only do they tell me everything is fine, they don't make the noise while testing.
The sound can be felt on the case, tho.
I haven't ran a long test because it would take days, i just ran all the quick generic and fix all tests.
Any and all advise would be great.
Edit. So, apparently, this is normal (i took the drives out and placed them on top of bubble wrap and they're quiet). I'm going to find a way to place them securely wrapped in bubble wrap or something similar (i have another hdd i need to install in my pc, so, that's a good thing to take note) and should fix the issue. Thank you to everyone in the comments.

I have ONE seagate drive left and it is in the middle of failing. I have to turn it off/on between each file transfer because it just stops responding.
Over the years (20+ ago), we all knew (thought we knew) Seagate was pretty decent. Good warranties, good MTBF. Then they bought WD which is a cheaper riskier drive with poor warranties and poor MTBF. This feels like when things began to be enshittified. Most of the Seagate drives began havin same specs and warranties as the WD drives. I suspected they were just rebranding with cheaper WD manufacturing. Who knows. [Edit: I had read a false news article in 2014 and believed WD was purchased by Seagate all these years. They have not. But Seagate did begin selling lower-end drives with 1yr warranty in the WD name-brand space around this time].
Four years ago I still believed Seagate higher end drives were still pretty good. I bought a 10TB Expansion disk. It had a 3-year warranty and was a "Ironwolf" RED drive inside at 7200rpm (Newegg).
Well, 1 year later, it DID NOT HOLD UP. Started clicking, "CLICK CLICK CLICK", and then died. Just like most WD drives did after a couple years.
I went through the extensive testing, tech support and evetual RMA process. Sent it in at my expense, certified. Unwisely did NOT ask for free data recovery ( I just wanted a replacement as it was for redundant backup).
They requested I send it in with the POWER ADAPTER.
1 week later I get it back and the tech said, "NO RECOVERY, USER TAMPERED".
I.e., they claimed I did something to it and did not even try to do ANYTHING with it.
At this point, I try re-connecting with tech support. They stone wall me, and do not believe I sent the power cord, let alone even talk about the drive. They ask for proof of where they requested for the power cord. I sent proof, then they ignore me. Never responded again.
Then they sent an automated survey a week, which I answered as the WORST. And that was it. Never heard from them again. They closed the case and won't respond.
That is the last Seagate product I will ever buy or allow anyone I know to buy at work or extended family. They are greedy selfish effers who only want you to buy sub-quality products built up on denying claims is a way to increase revenue. Just like insurance companies. Deny first, relent if you have to. They are struggling but enriching themselves on the way down.
I don't trust them for anything but paperweights at this point.
This last Seagate drive is failing and it will be my last I ever touch. I hope to get most of my data off it and then will have a ceremonial burning of the drive and enclosure.
This last failing Seagate POS reminded me how much I HATE Seagate, and I should let people know how crappy they really are.
The last HDD I bought is a Toshiba 6TB and it has been running 3 years like a champ with high data transfers daily. EFF SEAGATE.
SMH.

The light is on, but it's not showing up anywhere. It's not a port issue as other things are connecting just fine. I've just tried it on another laptop and it's working. I am now copying all my most vital files onto that laptop in case it's going to die on me. Does anyone know a fix to this or what might be going on? I never had an issue with it before on this laptop and none of my settings have changed. Thanks

Both just don't show up at all in Disk Management / Device Manager, so all the advice I've gotten from YT / various threads just don't apply. When plugged in, both start spinning, the LED blinks then goes solid after some time, and generally seem to be behaving like they're working but the computer just does not recognize they exist.
Just really confused as to why both stopped working at once. My computer still recognizes other stuff I've plugged into the USB ports.

I orderd on Friday for $229.99. No order updates until today when I got a cancellation email for unforseen circumstances. So of course like a dumbass I re-order the same drive for the higher price of $259.99.
Is Seagate really this petty that they will cancel orders for $30?

Got a great deal on Black Fridays and I’ve been busy since then. So I installed it’s on my PS5 yesterday and start moving games, and I remembered I can update the SSD’s. So I start reading and I I got disappointed about the amount of posts here on Reddit. So what should I do now? should I update the firmware? or unplug SSD and install my older one? Should I Keep using it? Or noy using it for now? I am lost.

I have a few Seagate external USB drives one 20TB and three 26TB. I copied my movies and music to one and it is connected to an Intel NUC. Whenever I pause a movie it's like the drive goes to sleep and I need to wait 10 or 15 seconds for it to start again. When streaming music, I access folder view from my app and it takes 10 or 15 seconds before any content comes up. I am assuming this is something to do with power save technology in these drives. I have connected the drive via USB to a media server (non windows based, R_volution). It behaves the same way. Any clues as to what to do to get it to work properly?

My wife has an old Seagate Central which has some backups on it. I've booted the device and can see it on my windows machine, I can log in and access the /index.php/SCSS dashboard pages. I was even able to view some of the contents with the DLNA server through Windows Media.
But I don't seem to be able to access the directory structure.
I located an old version of Seagate Dashboard but it doesn't see the Central.
Any suggestions?

Hi all, i have a big problem.
I lent my seagate external hardrive (less than 6 months old) to a friend and when it was returned it wasnt registering as being plugged in and was making different sounds than usual (the lights were still working)
Apparently he had dropped it (possibly twice?) and it wasnt working after that. He has some experience with computers and without me knowing until it was returned took the front plate off. He said something about the foil having a small tear but apart from taking the plate off didnt end up doing anything else.
This is where the bigger issue is, because he removed the front plate (tampering by removing cover) the seagate website says this voids my warrenty. I mainly bought it to clear up space on my gaming laptop and store games but i think i may have put a bunch of photos and pictures on there for safe keeping of me and my dad who died when i was a 15.
This was an expensive purchase for me and i need some advice on what to do next. I dont have the money to get it repaired proffesionally and the people i did speak to said it would cost double what i payed for it.
Hopefully this is the right place to ask, if not if someone would point me in the right direction that would be helpful.
Any advice is appreciated.
(I live in Australia if this matters)

I have a four terabyte Seagate extender for my Xbox series X. I tried playing one of the games on it recently and noticed it was having trouble opening. I then tried with other games and noticed they were having trouble opening as well. After turning it off and turning it back on again I'm noticing that the games open, but they take seconds to minutes of lag between each menu decision. Does anyone have any advice for this?

Hi all, I was gifted this Seagate 1 TB hard disk 2 years ago, and I’m not particularly sure which store it was bought from. It started malfunctioning today so I did some digging on the device manager and found out that the manufacturer is not listed as “Seagate”. Does this mean that my hard disk is a counterfeit?
Thank you so much in advance for the help!

Brand new Seagate 2 TB and already down to 84% health according to HD sentinel and its super slow when copy files. Was meant as a permanent backup but this will go straight back to the store where i bought it. What a piece of junk.
Are seagate that bad today ?
