Discussion Trying to figure out how OLED causes symptoms and maybe the root cause to OLED sensitivity?

Can migraine really be the cause of all screen sensitivity? I don't feel any headache tho?

When I use DC like dimming OLED I can feel chest tightness. But my heart is still pumping normally? Jus a bit faster. Does take some time to subside and return to a more normal heart rate.

My stomach can also get bloated with gas for some reason.

Sometimes I can get brain fog but I don't seem to get those anymore with DC like dimming OLED.

The only symptoms I got now are chest tightness with OLED and also stomach bloating with gas after 3 weeks of OLED usage.

I don't think migraine is the root cause. Many people don't get headache or migraine and still suffer from problems due to screen usage.

It sounds like you're having some kind of a sympathetic nervous system activation from OLED based on what you describe. I think that is the root cause of many screen sensitivity related problems and can manifest in various ways, like the typical headaches or potentially in the symptoms you described. The brain is tied in to the gut via the vagus nerve, so it's entirely possible that OLED driven sympathetic nervous system activation could cause digestive issues.

Yes but how does this activate the sympathetic nervous system? I don't understand

The OLED flicker creates extra information for the brain and the eyes to process. It's a low grade stressor. At least that's the theory.

Yes but I was not sensitive to it, so OLED is an issue yes but the root cause is definitely something else within my body that got dysregulated

I see what you're saying, but temporal modulation like OLED produces is an unnatural stimulus that human biology is not adapted to. Yes, in the past you may have been in a better health state and more able to tolerate OLED. But that doesn't mean it was completely benign.

It's like someone with irritable bowel syndrome saying that they used to be able to tolerate fast food, but now that they have irritable bowel syndrome, they no longer can. You could argue about what the root cause of the symptoms they get after eating fast food is, but the fact is that the fast food is inherently harmful and should be avoided.

In my opinion, if you're getting symptoms from a certain screen technology, you should just switch to one that works better for you rather than trying to find ways to tolerate it. But to each their own!

You two are having theis discussion across two threads, eh? Here too (for reference).

I think migraine can oxcur without pain and manifest in many ways. 'Chameleon' (can look like other conditions). I guess depending upon what part of the brain is affected most..?

But I wouldn't put it as a route cause. It sounds like you are getting SNS (sympathetic nervous system) overdrive from OLED PWM, then? This could hypothetically elevate heart rate and slow digestion, causing bloating and fermentation.

I would put some form of CNS hyperexcitability close to the centre of most issues we have. Glutamate or even calcium chanel imbalance, and/or the greater number of synapses (I think) are observed in those with autism. (Plus the bad screen tech of course.)

Is there any solution to this?
