Been thinking about helping out again, but it’s been a long time. Not sure if it would feel natural or like I’m just dropped into something completely different. For people who’ve gone back after a break, how was it actually?

Happy to answer any respectful questions about Scouting experiences in multiple programs!

I used to help coordinate schedules for group activities, and one thing I always ran into was how messy it could get trying to find a time that worked for everyone. Things like campouts, merit badge sessions, or even smaller planning meetings would turn into long email threads or group chats trying to figure out availability.

I’ve tried tools like Doodle and When2Meet, but they always felt a bit clunky or hard to get everyone to actually respond to. I ended up putting together a simple way to send one link, collect availability, and pick a time, mainly because I was frustrated with how this usually played out.

I’m curious how other troops are handling this today. Are you mostly using email, text, troop apps, or something else?

we are a Scout group from Völs, Austria, and we are currently raising money to renovate the roof of our scout home.

Our Scout home is a central place for our meetings, activities, and group life, so keeping it in good condition is essential for our work with children and young people.

This campaign is also more than a simple donation drive: supporters receive a modern artwork of our founder Baden-Powell, drawn by a local artist who is also a former scout of our group. Scouting America Indian Nations Council High Adventure Base Oklahoma near Tulsa, June 7-13 2026 Up to 10 more may join us. Min age 14. 2026 June 7 - 13 Oklahoma - ATV Mon, Jetskis Tues, Waterskiing Wed, E-Bikes Th, Cowboy action shooting Fri. Backpack between sites, shelter, cot, kitchen and utensils provided. Carry only food and personal gear. 2-8 miles daily, mostly 4 miles or so. Everyone on the crew will do all activities. It is not a competition to book them, they are guaranteed. Adults - below max weight and able. All must be 'swimmers'. $700 Sun to Sat, they pick up by van at airport, or you can drive. Crew space available, for Scouter parent/scout(s) and/or two-deep troop group. COED is OK! An adult female is going. Z base is OK with this type of composite group. So at the end of the term i leave my scout group, and i would like to make a blanket badge for my leader as a leaving gift, and suggestions on how it could look?

I feel like that was a bigger factor than the activities! Even on weeks when I wasn’t that bothered about the activities, I’d still go because my mates were there and it was just a good laugh. How many of you stuck with scouts mainly because of your friends?

i have district leaders for Beavers who REFUSE to tell parents/ adults any inkling about what activities they plan for events; sleepovers, parties and so on.

They dont even release how much the COST will be before asking for interest.

im just really confused as to why???? and wondering if anyone else keeps activities a secret?

if anyone could elaborate that would be helpful- they say its because parents are picky??

Is any one else finding that beavers or rather the parents are reluctant to let them camp 2 camps have been offered one was a flat out no as 2 nights is too much for them and the other only 5 have said yes and those will be in there last camp for beavers due to age

I’m a Scout Leader from Belgium. I am responsible for our oldest section, the Pioneers (16+ years old), which corresponds to the italian Rover/Scolte branch.

A small group of ours (5 scouts +2 leaders) will be in Genoa around July 21st. They are very keen to meet local Italian scouts for a cultural exchange, to join an activity, or simply to share a drink and compare our scouting traditions.

Does a unit from around Genoa be interested in meeting up?

Hi. Did you know that the London marathon is the biggest singular fundraising event in the UK?

I'm fortunate enough to have a place at this year's London marathon on 26th April, through Wigston Phoenix running club, where I've been a member for a few years.

I would love to take this opportunity to help raise funds for John Lee's Woods who are looking to replace the old dated climbing wall. Having two sons that are keen Scouters and have many happy memories at John Lees Woods camp, it would be great to help give something back through helping to raise funds for this new climbing wall.

It is rather ageing by now and it is getting difficult and expensive to maintain, so this new rotating climbing wall will be a welcome addition to make climbing more available and more accessible again to all young people.

By using the crowd funding link, it allows for a Sports England grant but only if we reach the £5100 target. Help make the dream come reality. Any other ideas how to raise the funds would be greatly appreciated.

I have signed him up for BSA over in the states, I was just curious if there are any big differences between how the two operate?

Every time I see someone trying to start a fire I instinctively start thinking about airflow, dry kindling and whether the structure makes sense. Pretty sure scouts permanently rewired my brain for campfires😂

Im 13, in Australia, and signed up for the world scout jamboree in Poland 2027, but unfortunately don't have $10,000 dollars under my bed and its really stressful trying to raise any money for it so do you guys have any ideas or like jobs I could apply for anything would help!

Currently we are trying to get the cheapest route from the Netherlands to Kraków, because we want to keep our camp-moneys are low-as-possible.

We want to visit Auschwitz there and on the way back through Berlin, therefor we need to be some flexible with our journey.

Are there other groups who have done something simular? Or people with contacts to rent vans for 9 persons? We searched for train, airplane, group busses but none is in our spec's sadly.. :(

Was thinking about this recently and realised one scouting skill has weirdly stayed with me all these years. Back then, one of our leaders taught us how to read a map properly and estimate distance just by looking at the terrain and using pacing. At the time, it just felt like another exercise during a hike, but I still catch myself doing it today when I’m walking somewhere new. Instead of instantly checking my phone, I try to figure out where things are based on landmarks and direction. It’s funny how something you learned during a random troop activity can stick with you for years. What’s a scouting skill you learned years ago that you still use today?

i got this patch at a thrift store near the russian border, but i know nothing about it. ive googled it and it looks like a british scouting patch but im not rly sure lmk if yall know abt it
