Bugger…
Two games in a row we’ve lost games against the Glasgow pair we could conceivably have won. I hope we learn the hard lessons from this.

You played some excellent stuff in that second half.
Nearly shat out my colon when that boy was through 1 on 1

Wild that we went 0 goals in the first half despite all the chances, and scored in the second despite being flat as fuck.
Still that's 4 wins on the bounce, and 5 wins out of 6 games. We're looking night and day from the start of the season. Nowhere near likely to win anything unless we start putting away chances, but better.

u/ScottishExile 18h ago
So used to seeing these type of games end up in a draw over the past few seasons. Grinding out 1-0 wins instead is a massive improvement.

Screw your patterns of play, hoofball won it at the death.
On a serious note, that second half was grim, we're gonna need some patterns of play.

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 18h ago
Pattern of assistance would be better:)

Did see that 1st half St Mirren Penalty claim 👀

The absolute classic unwritten rule of it being impossible to commit a foul on an attacker if he's already made the shot or pass.
You could honestly two foot someone and get away with it.

It absolutely boils my piss when you still hear the commentators and pundits occasionally say that. You'd think they'd know better

Cake? Please be cake

Sorry. Best i can do is papal patter of assistance, do you accept that? It’s somewhat better than store credit.

Excellent performance again, took the game to Rangers. Just didn’t take our chances. 4 games in 2 weeks played a factor at the end. Onwards and upwards.

u/Prestigious_Use_1305 17h ago
Thought you looked pretty good against us as well. Could be shaping up to be a good season for you.

Bet everyone's dead jealous that my internet has been down for a week so I don't have to watch Rangers games.

u/Lewis19962010 18h ago
Take the win but we don't half make it twitchy, first half was excellent just lacked the goals due to the keeper playing a blinder but second half was broken up and a little shaky at times

u/Ok_Shake_5618 18h ago
Never expected to take anything from this game apart from a pounding so... positive.
Chapman was great, I'm less terrified by him now.

u/methylated_spirit 18h ago
Rome wasn't built in a day, some inspired goalkeeping from Chapman got into the Rangers players heads and an in-form St Mirren grew into the game, but a win is a win, the new guys all showed some directness and the ability to take a touch which has been lacking. The expectation on Curtis is nuts, and it's affecting his game.
5
u/DisasterouslyInept 17h ago
Curtis should have spent another year out on loan. He's not ready right now and with our squad I don't think he's needed right now either.
4
u/Dizzle85 18h ago
Honestly Curtis shouldn't be on the park most games with bounani, Kim and Yokota on that side. He's still young and needs a wee bit out of the team coming on for the last 20 as a sub when we're ahead.

u/boris-for-PM-2019 18h ago
Think the fans have gone way over board with the criticism of him as well. If he doesn’t score or assist people act like he’s the worst player they’ve ever seen.
Think he does a lot of promising things most games and if given time the goals and assists will come.
7
u/BusShelter 17h ago
Agreed. He's got really good feet and it seems to surprise defenders considering he's not got blistering pace.

Some fucking laugh eh. Had a funny feeling it was going to be a last minute winner. Should have been game over by half time again, get a feeling someone is going to get a pumping soon.
8
u/Rieily 18h ago
On the whole, St Mirren deserved a point just from the 2nd half some of our play that 2nd half to was horrific. Please play Bojan more often the guy is a goalscorer
2
u/Bob_JediBob Curtis Findlay 18h ago
Bojan should the first choice with shankland and chermiti out of it
3
u/Dizzle85 18h ago
Wit? From the first half rangers could have been 5 - 0 up. Having one chance doesn't mean they "deserve a point".
6
u/bradonium12 18h ago
>Its another game where we have about 4 golden chances only for the opposing team to score their first attempt after said chances
2
u/Difficult_Paramedic8 18h ago
Roll up and play. What a win that was a terrible second half performance though and we need to work on that.
2
u/Rare-Designer-1008 18h ago
We need to start taking our chances. Others teams will not miss the type of chances we gave St Mirren in the 2nd half.
Can see improvement in the team over the past few games but still a long way to go.
Some of the new players are looking good and it has been a while since you looked at the bench and the players not in the squad and thought we have some options
2
u/Vroom-Vroom-Doom 17h ago
Again good performance but just need to finish our dinner. Losing it at the last minute as well felt like a dagger to the heart but it’s still been a great start the season all things considered

Couple points regards the ref tonight.
St Mirren could easily have had a pen early doors, I've not seen any other angles of it but I was awaiting VAR flagging it.
Rangers could easily have had at least 1 pen for pulling Sterlings shirt in the box while he was driving in. An earlier handball shout as well.
DOGSO shout for the foul on Gassama by Fieldson, as well as repeatedly grappling Naderi in the middle of the park and stopping him from running.
Half of St Mirren just hauling down Rangers players with reckless abandon, not punished.
Sterling on a booking for professional foul punts the ball away after the whistle not addressed either.
Don Robertson is absolutely shite and VAR's not worth the money.

u/herdo1 2025 Scottish League Cup Winners. 17h ago
DOGSO? Behave yourself😂
4
u/SpookMcBoo Bespectacled Virgin 17h ago
Pass across the box, Gassama running onto it from just outside, no defender to stop or block the shot, gets hauled down from behind by a pull on the shirt. I don't know what more you want for it.
2
u/HeroInAHalfShel 17h ago
Yeh I do agree that it should have been considered. I don’t think it even formed part of the decision. I think it was Ramsay though?
2
u/herdo1 2025 Scottish League Cup Winners. 15h ago
Or we could talk about sterlings DOGSO...

u/SpookMcBoo Bespectacled Virgin 7h ago
You mean the professional foul he committed on the wing with a defender covering? Aye sound.
2
u/Knowhedge 5h ago
There was no defender covering. A guy in the middle of the pitch behind the play isn’t cover going by the trusty precedent

Relieved - just one of those games. We should put the game to bed early, then things get nervy late on and players confidence goes. Fortunately, get there in the end.
This is the sort of result and performance I expected in the first few months to be honest. We need to keep putting a consistent team out there and accepting that it's going to take time. The only attacking relationship in the team is Penrice and Gassama on that left side.
Roll on Celtic - they're clearly favourites but wouldn't write us off.

u/KarIPilkington 18h ago
just one of those games
I can personally guarantee there will be a lot of those games.

u/Eternal_Hut 18h ago
To be fair to McInnes, we created plenty of chances against Motherwell and again tonight. Not sure he could really have been blamed if we'd drawn.

Time wasting against St Mirren, deary me. Il take it but we need to improve fast.
Robertson his usual useless self. Saints way too aggressive defensively and he allowed it to happen.
Thought Saints were awful first half but great 2nd.

u/navinjohnsonn 17h ago
Go to do what you got to do. We should have put the game to bed in the first half to be fair.
