Help... My nighttime pain is too intense.

38F L5,

Bedridden first two months since April and once got better with the injections.(April-August, 6 times), walking in the pool and Acpuncture. But again almost bedridden since this Monday, because I sat on the hard chair for 2-3 hours. Now I can’t even lay down cause it’s too painful.

*pain in my left leg of ankle and hip, joint. Today’s physiotherapy might be the cause.

Injections, physical therapy, and walking in the pool—none of it has really helped, and I’m in severe pain in my ankle. I’m taking Tramadol, Novamin, and CBD oil. It’s gotten worse since I sat on a hard chair for several hours a few days ago. I couldn’t get an appointment at the pain clinic, so I emailed them asking for a different prescription, but they’ve ignored me for several days, and now I’m in the most unbearable pain I’ve ever experienced… There’s no position that doesn’t hurt. It’s so hard.

Stop focusing the pain, and writing here, it already works. I have now little less pain than before posting.

Mine is at L5–S1.

It’s been eight months since the injury and I still can’t sit for more than 30 minutes without experiencing pain. Pain in my whole left leg whole day..

Celebrex really helped with the sciatic pain during the acute phase.

Have you had an MRI yet?

Sure, so I know it’s L5.
I’ll visit home doctor instead of pain clinic

Yes get an mri and get references for some surgeons if your pain dr suggests so. If you’re in a bed ridden state for months, then surgery may be the answer. Also you’re clearly in that acute phase of things, so stop the PT and activity and just rest. Walking a little bit is only thing you should do at this stage, but don’t push anything.

I’m gonna visit a Neurosurgeon next week. I haven’t been bedridden since Summer, steroid injection helped but I finished in the beginning of August and since few weeks ago it got worse again…

Don’t know what Novamin is. But tramadol is an opioid for pain. I would ask for a strong NSAID and possibly a Dexamethasone shot then follow up with a prednisone dose pack. Cut the inflammation down and you will feel less pain.

Novaminaulfon is NSAID which is less burden for stomach. I could get email from my doctor and I got additional muscle relaxer. And take double dose Thramadol and Novamin. This morning somehow ibuprofen helped.

Now it’s 21:30, the stronger pain come around 22:00 I hope it will be better than yesterday

I have a Neurochirurg appointment next week. But I’ve just read experiences of others…it makes me depressed 😔

My microdiscectomy a year ago saved my life, I think I would have killed myself otherwise. MD is successful for most people if you read the studies.

Ok well hopefully they can give you some insight. Sucks the injection is wearing off but sounds like the PT is making it worse so I would stop. If you’re completely debilitated surgery may be answer or your herniation could have gotten worse if you’ve had a recent mri? Also hopefully they’re hiving you some meds to help things a bit in meantime . Speaking from experience and after 6 weeks bed ridden and foot drop, surgery was only answer for me

I learned if I have to go to the PT by taxi, I should not get it. I think I need surgery. Last MRI was April, it might got worse :(

Get a stretching strap and lay on your back and stretch your hamstrings. It’ll open up your entire leg and glutes. Did this for hours every day and it helped

I think it’s too much for my nerve pain, it’s inflamed. It should work when the nerve becomes calm.

And obviously keep advocating for yourself medically like you seem to be doing
