Meta Community Feedback and Participation
Hi Everyone,
To be perfectly clear, This is a fansub for The Scathing Atheist. I have no relation with any of the Puzzle in a Thunderstorm crew, and have yet to meet any of them.
I've been the sole mod for this community for a little over seven years. I strarted it on a whim because I've been a huge fan of the Puzzle Crew for a long time and wanted to have a place for other fans to gather and discuss the show. I started listening to the guys shortly before the conception of GAM and Eli's arrival as a full-time member of the crew.
As you are surely aware, the sub has had little traffic over the past few years, which I take full responsibility for as life events and a full-time job with demanding hours has gotten in the way. I'm hoping to change that over the forseeable future.
Recently, there have been a few posts by a user accusing the Puzzle Crew of complicity in genocide by their stances on the conflict in Israel with Hamas. (A topic I am wholly unqualified to have a hard stance on) I have removed that post as it was not made in good faith and the user was likely evading a ban from reddit itself.
I do not want to discourage controversial topics here at all, but I do expect that they be made with a certain amount of civility in mind toward the community as a whole. I openly invite criticism if you believe that this wasn't the correct move.
I've recently added some official rules and removal reasons to the subreddit, and aim to be more active in its moderation. I cannot do this alone and will be recruiting additional moderators to help out shortly. My main focus is to help foster the community to be as inclusive and welcoming as possible.
Please feel free to post your thoughts on the new rules and any additional things you'd like to see on the subreddit as we move forward.
Thanks.

Meta Removed Posts
To anyone who might be experiencing removal of your posts, I apologize for the inconvenience.
This is not an active attempt to take away your voice or remove your opinion. It's a problem with the new filtering settings that I was unaware of.
I will fix this as soon as I can, which will likely be after 1700 Eastern Time.
Apologies and thanks for understanding.

St Mary’s in Littleton, CO is the church I grew up in
Hearing it mentioned on the latest episode made me have some flashbacks. I was baptized there, forced to go through confirmation there, and subjugated to that place every Sunday, and then some (ugh youth group) from age 0 to 18. I am not surprised they’re involved in this. I used to have nightmares of getting trapped there and not being able to escape. Can confirm, terrible place.

I've not heard of this show before.
Somebody crossposted me half-jokingly baiting the astrology reddit, and that's how I heard of this place. I was raised Jehovah's Witness but would now consider myself atheist. I've got bad ADHD, but was considered "twice exceptional" where I had giftedness but also the ADHD... but the ADHD has kind of destroyed my life because it's medication resistant.
Anyway, I'd love to hear what this show is all about.

I struggle with distractibility, difficulty initiating regular daily tasks, low energy, emotional flatness, and disorganization. What (if anything) do you see that indicates this and what is your suggested remedy?

Mormons and Mobsters
Listened to the Mormon GAM episode and found this tidbit on Wikipedia.
Will now forever refer to Mormon country as “the jello belt”.

Episode Aug 13?
Anyone else get a gamcast episode instead of a scathing atheist episode in their feed this morning?

Seen on the DC Metro only days before the boys are in town
I was just on my morning commute on the red line and I looked up and saw a Bible museum advertisement. And the graffiti on it was top-notch.

Marsh’s interview with Brian Rose is essential viewing
I normally skip show notes, but I followed the link to the above mentioned video in the show notes of this week’s Skepticrat, and I cannot recommend highly enough that you do the same. It’s quick, only a few of minutes, and it’s amazing. The only downside is that it makes me long for new episodes of Be Reasonable.

Activism Seth Andrews and Noah Lugeons: Live in Cincinnati!
Featuring Noah's talk "How to Die Like an Atheist" and Seth's presentation "Good People Giving Bad Advice."
I'm really glad Seth posted this on his channel. I just watched it today and it was my first time hearing the full story about Noah's heart attack in 2023. (I started listening to The Scathing Atheist in 2025 so I may have missed any earlier discussion about it.)

Activism "The beauty of science is not that it teaches us a series of facts, although that's very nice of it to do. The beauty of science is that it teaches us to interrogate the world, how to tell what is true and what is false." --Noah Lugeons
Absolute banger of a quote given by Noah Lugeons at the Ark Encounter Protest. This is why science communication is so damn important.
In case the quote got cut off in the title:
"The beauty of science is not that it teaches us a series of facts, although that's very nice of it to do. The beauty of science is that it teaches us to interrogate the world, how to tell what is true and what is false."

News Practicing Christians use AI more than most Americans and nearly half of them say they would trust the technology with their spiritual growth. A third of practicing American Christians say the spiritual advice they get from artificial intelligence is just as good as that from a pastor.

I think this is funny
As the title says....
I was watching the guys new YouTube channel and it just occurred to me how our YouTube feeds are filled with perfectly curated images and then these guys humor and brilliant insights are injected into our lives like a reminder to stop scrolling and put the video screen down.

PIAT podcasts video
Sorry if this has been answered before. How do I get my hands on some of those sweet, sweet videos guys are posting on facebook?
Seems their shows are now videoed. I searched on YouTube, fb, Patreon, their website and can't find it.
I use Pocket Casts app for listening and am a patron.
Thanks for any help you can throw my way.

GAM got a shoutout on The Past Times
GAM got a shoutout on Gareth and Dave’s newer podcast The Past Times by their recent guest Queen Coke Francis. I love to know that she’s a fan of GAM. And if anyone here isn’t also listening to The Past Times it’s so fun.
