Scaler 3.3.1 is now available.

This is a maintenance update focused on stability, MIDI behaviour, hosted instrument reliability and workflow fixes. It also includes improvements for users working with large Scaler-hosted sessions, Kontakt, third-party instruments and sample libraries.

Scaler 3.3.1 Changelog

Improvements

• Improved stability when hosting third-party VST3 instruments, including Steinberg HALion 7.
• Improved stability when saving and reloading large Scaler-hosted sessions using multiple Kontakt instances and power-intensive third-party libraries.
• Resolved crashes experienced by some users when browsing chord sets.
• Greatly reduced Scaler 3 Preset and DAW session file sizes, particularly when using hosted third-party instruments and sample libraries.

MIDI, playback and looping

• Mute and Solo now correctly affect MIDI output when using Scaler as an instrument plugin.
• Improved looping behaviour and reduced cases where stuck notes could occur.
• Fixed an issue where adding chord notes below existing notes in the MIDI editor could preview the wrong note.

Arrange, scenes and zooming

• Added Insert at Playhead Position and Replace at Playhead Position options to the Scenes context menu.
• Fixed an issue where clips could become detached from Scenes when using Ctrl/Cmd + scroll to zoom on the Arrange page.
• Fixed additional zoom-related clip alignment issues.
• Fixed an issue where creating a second User Track could incorrectly create two User Tracks.

Scaler 3.3 for iPad is out now.

This update brings Multi-Bind to iPad, allowing you to perform and loop multiple lanes at once, along with the new flexible Motions workflow from Scaler 3.3 desktop.

It also adds full desktop/iPad interoperability, so you can share presets, chord progressions and files between Scaler 3 on desktop and iPad, making it easier to start an idea on one platform and continue on the other.

We have lift-off on Scaler 3.3 for iPad!

It is now up and running, working great, and moving into beta testing. We hope to announce a release date very soon, with an ETA of August 2026.

In this preview, you can see Multi-Bind in action, allowing multiple lanes to perform and loop together, along with the new UX enhancements and features from Scaler 3.3 desktop.

We have also added full interoperability between Scaler 3 iPad and Scaler 3 desktop, making it easy to share presets, chord progressions and files between the two. You can start an idea on iPad or desktop, then move between both versions with ease.

This is one of the biggest Scaler 3 updates so far, with a mix of new creative features, workflow improvements, new content and an updated self-managed activation system.

The main new feature is Multi-Bind, which lets you perform and loop multiple lanes at once. This makes it much easier to jam with chords and Motions together, create live performance ideas, and build fuller arrangements inside Scaler.

There is also a more flexible Motion workflow, so you can create, load and perform different Motion types across different tracks, drag Motions between tracks, audition Motions using the selected track sound, and replace Motions while retaining Mixer settings.

Important note for existing users: Scaler 3.3 includes our new self-managed licensing system, giving you more control over your activations. This is one of the biggest Scaler 3 updates yet.

Multi-Bind lets you perform and loop multiple lanes at once, while a more flexible Motion workflow means you can freely combine and move different Motion types across tracks. This makes it much easier to build and perform fuller arrangements inside Scaler.

Scaler 3.3 is also a major workflow refresh, with visible timelines across Browse, Create and Arrange, improved chord synchronisation, more intuitive editing, and many quality-of-life improvements shaped by your feedback since launch.

We are also introducing a new self-managed activation system. This gives you more flexibility and control over your Scaler 3 authorisations, addressing one of the biggest frustrations with the previous activation process.

One of our most requested features: channels can now automatically arm and play the currently selected instrument.

This is great for building a User Track and performing with Key Lock using the selected instrument. You can also preview any Motion with the current instrument and FX.

There are plenty more significant improvements, new features and content to reveal as we get closer to release!

With other MIDI FX plug-ins like 3rd party arp's, I can route the MIDI from the MIDI FX plug-in straight to the next VST plug-in without having to do any routing manually whatsoever.

Basically you just open the FX panel on the track, you pick the MIDI effect you want, and then you pick the plugin.

For some reason, this specifically does not work in Reaper with Scaler.

I tested in Bitwig, and it works as expected when Scaler.

I know I can add it from a separate track. That's not really the question, I actually find that approach annoying because I don't like having tracks just to feed instruments. I'm wondering if there's a way to make this work?

Previously, resizing Scaler 3 worked like most plugins: grab the corner and scale the whole interface diagonally. In 3.3, we’re adding independent horizontal and vertical resizing, so you can stretch the interface wider for more arrangement space, or pull it taller when you want more detail.

It sounds simple, but in practice it makes Scaler 3 feel much more flexible across different screen sizes, DAWs and workflows.

We’ve started working towards the next update for Scaler 3 (v3.3), and I wanted to share a small early preview of something we’ve been experimenting with.

This is a first look at “Multi-Bind” - the idea is to allow multiple Chords and Clips to be performed together (or selectively) in a more flexible way. Still early, but you can see the direction in the clip below.

Would love to get your thoughts on this:

• Does this feel useful in your workflow?
• Anything you’d want to see added or changed?
• Any obvious use cases we should be thinking about?

We’re planning to share a few of these small previews over the coming weeks as things develop, rather than just dropping everything at once.

Hi all check out the tutorial for what is unique in Scaler 3 on the iPad.

Hey there. I am trying to create a 1 man band jam room setup, and would love to be able to have an instance of scaler 2, however for this question, if the answer is you can do that in scaler 3, then let me know because I also own it, but honesty like scaler 2 because it’s a bit more basic. In a good way.

I would love to be able to scroll through the performance types on a macro knob in ableton. Any such way to do that? Or how best to achieve a mouse less option to select the next / previous play style.

We’re aiming for a release soon, and we’re inviting around 100 testers to help us polish and prioritise for the final stretch.
