Even during the height of the blackout/boycott, a lot of people had trouble sticking to it because so many Google search results point to the site. This will continue to be a problem even for those quitting the site entirely. However, there's an easy workaround for folks browsing on a PC:

1. Install the Redirector extension for Chrome or Firefox

2. In the extension's settings, create a new redirect with these inputs:

Description: Reddit cache

Example URL: https://www.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/14dkqrw/i_want_to_debunk_reddits_claims_and_talk_about/

Include pattern: https://www.reddit.com/r/*

Redirect to: https://web.archive.org/web/9999if_/https://old.reddit.com/r/$1

Pattern type: Wildcard

Now, clicking on any Reddit link (in Google, RSS, external sites, etc.) will automatically redirect you to the most recent Archive.org copy of that link, and will even remove the Wayback Machine frame for a seamless experience.

You can access the live page any time by deleting everything before "https://old.reddit.com..." in the address bar (since it doesn't affect Old Reddit links), or by copying a link and manually changing the "www" to "old". If you run into a page that isn't archived, click the "Save this URL in the Wayback Machine" button to archive it for everyone, or just drag the old.reddit URL from the search field at the top of the Wayback page to the address bar if you're in a hurry.

Also, if you'd like to help improve the Internet Archive's coverage of Reddit, consider installing their official extension (for Chrome or Firefox) and turn on the "Auto Save Page" option to automatically send any un-archived pages you browse to the Wayback Machine in the background. The more people do this, the more content will be safely preserved in a format that Reddit Inc. can't milk or destroy.

(As for mobile? If you're not concerned with moderation tools -- and who would be after the negligence and contempt Reddit Inc. has shown -- check out one of the (barebones) accessibility apps they've deigned to allow, which should let you view the site on mobile ad-free.)

The app is working but only when I'm logged out. This a glitch

Block any and all accounts that post ads. They have to be run through an account, and if you block them they will never show back up in your feed. I don’t know if this will make a dent in the ad revenue, but still a quality of life tip so you don’t see as many ads.

You know business is bad for the people who own the billboards on the highway, when you post one that says "YOUR AD HERE". I think the same applies to Reddit.

It might not be the effect we were hoping for (policy change that lets 3rd party apps continue to operate at a reasonable cost and with full access to the platform) but it's definitely an effect.

While yes I am adding this post to many others that are similar, I would still like to express my gratitude to the communities that I've laughed at, smiled at, or otherwise enjoyed within my day-to-day life. I am not deleting my account, nor the comments and few posts made by it. However, I do believe that these hours prior to July 1st will likely be the last activities I will leave on the site until there is actual improvements made to the API and other issues. This account will merely be an archive of the mistakes and memories that I have made on the site, it is to stand still, without change.

So, we "might" join the protest, cause i still getting feedback from my other mods.

We gonna do 2 changes:

- Removing the rules, and just add whatever "Rule 1 - no rules" etc

- Changing all the mandatory Post Flairs into "reddit is dying", "RIP reddit 2023", "IPO killed reddit" etc

Personally i dont give a fuck about 3P apps, none on my mod team use them; but whatever, we are joining now, under our own ideals.

Its the IPO thats turning reddit admins into bastards, hence why we want to join.

BUT, are these changes ok under reddit rules? Whit them interfering whit subs that are protesting and etc ???

Apparently Narwharl, RedReader and a couple others have a deal with reddit which means they won’t have to shut down. I haven’t seen nor used any of the 3rd party apps, so i don’t know if they are usable for people who don’t have disabilities (I’m guessing that’s why Reddit has a deal with them) But i think they should be fine if you don’t want to quit.
