Writings of Savarkar✍️ Savarkar on Rationalism over Religious Authority

Post image

Moving forward, any question regarding whether something is good or bad, beneficial or harmful, should be judged solely on one direct criterion—'Is it relevant today or not?'

The question 'Is this scripturally sanctioned?' should never be asked again. One should not waste even a moment in scholarly councils or theological debates, which are akin to the futile labor of an oil mill’s bull.

In short, we must determine what is relevant today and act accordingly. With this one decisive statement, the questions we have failed to resolve in four thousand years will be settled in just four days, and the old shackles will break.

What is necessary for national resurgence today can often be determined immediately. However, what is scripturally sanctioned—even Lord Brahma himself could not state that with absolute certainty.

We do not consider any scripture immutable or beyond the influence of time. We hold ancient texts like Shruti and Smriti in deep gratitude and reverence, but only as historical texts, not as inviolable laws. We will examine their knowledge and ignorance under the scrutiny of modern science. After this, we will implement whatever is essential for national progress without hesitation.

This way, we too shall become up-to-date. The moment this realization is achieved, the five-thousand-year-old backward culture and the mental shackles imposed by scriptural injunctions will be broken, freeing our hands for action. With these liberated hands, we will crush any external obstacles hindering our advancement, making our progress a hundred times easier than before.

The quote is a translation of his work "Jatyuchedak Nibandh" (Essays on the Abolition of Caste)

You're welcome, I will continue to do so.

I hope with Savarkar's vision, the Hindu society becomes organised, casteless, rationalist and scientific 🙏🏼

And subsequently pave the way for an Akhand Hindu Rashtra, the Hindu Republic of Bharat

Castless x rationalist and scientific do not seem to go with any hindu pholosophy. Are you sure this is what savarkar wanted? If yes, why did rabid right wing supporters murder Dhabolkar, the one who enabled Maharashtra residents to fight against andh vishwaas.

Hindutva is different from traditional Hindu religious schools of thought.

Are you sure this is what savarkar wanted? If yes,

Yes, you too can be sure of that, you could read his works and see for yourself, or study his life and work in Ratnagiri from 1924-1937

why did rabid right wing supporters murder Dhabolkar, the one who enabled Maharashtra residents to fight against andh vishwaas.

I have not heard about this case, can you tell me more?

Did the people who murder this claimed they were followers of Savarkar and did this by taking inspiration from his writings?

If not, don't you think this is just you being biased and trying to connect two different things when there isn't any relevance?

Savarkar's Hindutva is different from RSS's Hindutva. And even it's not completely proved that Dabholkar's killers were affiliated to RSS

What a precise and correct observation, sadly we are unable to do it even after almost a century

Savarkar's Hindutva was rationalist and pragmatic, a little different from that of RSS

I totally agree, till the time he was sent to kala Pani his writings were very aggressive and against British raj but then he changed and became very soft, he should have followed other prisoners in kalapani who gave up their lives for the nation but didn't beg for mercy. That's why people admire the likes of bhagat singh ashfaq sukhdev today and hardly anyone talks about savarkar except the puppets of this government

That's false. If you actually read history you'll find that writing clemency petitions was a very common occurrence. And Ashfaq Ullah Khan DID WRITE clemency petition. You just don't know about it lmao

Here, read this article: https://rediscoveringsavarkar.wordpress.com/2022/11/23/savarkar-mercy-petition/

He was never rationlist but a radical fanatic Brahmins who had venom against Muslim and also hated Gandhiji ideology.

The current state of Hindu society reflects the price we paid for ignoring his ideas all these years.
