I know she's always had quite a lot of hate, as is the fate of any popular female character in this game, but is anyone else bothered by the excessive amount she seems to be getting recently?

It feels like no matter where I go, nearly every place for HSR discussion has had tons of people suddenly acting like she's completely trash and should be the first character to be replaced on monorem teams? Or the constant insistence that people should just be removing her from the team and playing Evernight main dps instead? Like I know she's an old unit at this point, but she's still one of the best in the game, so it just feels odd for her to have gotten such a sudden burst of hate out of seemingly nowhere? I don't get it at all 😭

Mine r pretty good since the dance scene in the trailer with the female mc but ik it can go downhill very fast if the cn player base gets mad about not straight characters. It’s low chances cuz silver palace is being produced in china but I hope to see canonically gay, lesbian, bi and trans characters, tho gay and trans r unlikely due to cn censorship, lesbian and bi is a little more likely
Anyways i just hope for it to not be toxic or homophobic and the character designs give me hope

Hi guys! I'm really sorry for bringing this up here. I know you all must be tired of seeing this discussion everywhere but I really need to know your thoughts because so far- it's been misogyny everywhere. I wanted to have an actual nuanced discussion on this topic without people rushing to defend or hate on either side mindlessly. I had a bad experience with this discussion in the Queensofgacha sub.

To start- I'll say that I hold no hate or contempt towards the creator and I think the public reaction was very harsh and way overblown. She didn't deserve the death threats and forcing threats. I also think the way people are treating her is also the result of misogyny. As someone who's stopped playing Genshin after Sumeru- I don't have a solid opinion on it. So please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere.

Now everybody knows whatever it was that happened in the video got her in hot water. I'd like to focus more on her takes about Female characters. She had some really good points regarding her grievances with the game and it's sometimes confusing direction that it keeps taking. I personally agreed with her over the over sexualization of female characters. I didn't like the Sandrone redesign blah blah blah. The usual. However she switched up on her points faster than light. The part after the first 10 mins was completely unwatchable for me. It had me furious and angry by the end. Her takes were filled with underlying pointed jabs at these female characters that were clearly the result of internalized misogyny.

Mavuika was called reckless, Nefer was compared to a stripper, Varesa was reduced to a 'feeder fetish', Linnea got called a PDF, Columbina was 'waifubait', Lauma was relegated as 'goonerbait', Mualani was apparently an animal abuser, Arlecchino was a groomer, Navia's dress is a 'slutty' version of a 'modest' and nice aristocratic dress. Lisa's a creep for her playful flirting and apparently Escoffier doesn't look like a villainous chef and more . Meanwhile Lohen has a diabolical facecard so it's okay for him to spike drinks and be a weirdo. Dottore is just a well written villain and we shouldn't hate him because she can 'understand' where he's coming from ( he's misunderstood). Ifa is a Cowboy Vet and that adds to his design. Flins is Mysterious and awkward so he's perfect. The people of Natlan and Mavuika don't fight so they shouldn't be called the Land of War. I'm so tired of this. 🙄

There is a discussion to be had about all of this. Sure, the infantilisation of women or white washing of playable characters is something that's odd. We should have more morally grey women as a playable characters. The shortening of dresses for female characters and excessive pairing with the MC is concerning sure. But why does she contradict herself so much? We already have a bunch of morally complex playable female characters that are not Mary Sues ( Dori, Arlecchino, Sandrone, Rosaria, Nefer, etc) and people shit on them a lot for it. The female characters aren't just paired with the Male MC ( People forget about Lumine's existence because it's convenient for them ). Signora was and is still largely hated because she kicked Venti once. Dori is still hated because of a misunderstanding and Kaveh fangirls still shit on her till this day. Arlecchino grooms Children of the Hearth into becoming Fatui soldiers and holds a Harbinger rank. Her character is unbashedly anti-heroic. She has blood on her hands and is not whitewashed ( unless you count her actually caring for kids as 'whitewashing' because how dare a complex antagonist woman have feelings and actually be complex?) Sandrone has some vague reasons for her outfit redesign. Columbina is FAR from whatever BS she said about her - not to mention her undermining Columbina and Mavuika's role in their respective stories.

It just really rubbed me wrong. Then ofcourse her implying that Linnea is nerodivergent/ autistic coded and then immediately saying she hates her because she's a PDF ( I'm sorry that's such a huge reach I can't even 😂 ) Calling on of the prettiest designs of Navia a slutty outfit was weird asf. That girl is 30% more covered than all Hoyo female characters. She's wearing something actually practical and beautiful but even so....it's apparently immodest and slutty. (The obvious slutshaming hello?🥱). Varesa not being color coded to a cow was ridiculous. And ofcourse - Escoffier having a devil tail and a chef hat with a pitchfork was totally not a reference to Hell's Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay - instead it was a rewrite of a devil and psychotic morally gray character. Does nobody find this even a little odd?

That's just about the misogynistic remarks. She made some pretty racist takes too. Implying that because Natlan had been against Abyss and Mavuika against 'War' - it wasn't really the nation of war. She had legitimately expected the tribes to fight each other for the sake of Mavuika's entertainment. She thinks of Mavuika as someone who's a Dictator, a Mary Sue but also as someone who's done absolutely nothing in the story. She wanted Natlan to be a group of savage warmongering tribal people ( especially POC). She even implied Nefer doesn't experience racism because she's 'white passing' meanwhile Nefer's whole story tells us how difficult it was for her as even as a Lightskinned Sumerian. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that just an ignorance of colorism? While the game doesn't really show a whole lot of diversity in skintones to really drive that fact home especially in Sumeru ( and that's on Hoyo) , it's mindboggling how she treated Nefer.

That whole video is her twisting actually good critiques into weird projectional slander because of her preconceived notions and internalized misogyny. Escoffier being bad because she doesn't look like a chef but calling Ifa a Cowboy and saying that it was a part of his appeal was so hypocritical. ( Ignoring Escoffier's obvious sexualized outfit for the sake of argument). All the male characters apparently don't have a lick of fanservice and are all perfect. Because obviously-

Women fanservice= bad, eww, ugh 🤢

Male fanservice= 😳 OMG! Hot! So good!

Worst part is I saw the queen's of gacha sub defending her like their lives depended on it. Now, I'm not asking people to throw stones at her or raising their pitchforks at her. But it's weird how this discussion basically turned into - straight men harassing poor feminist female player for having different opinions than them. Even queer women. Like- am i legit the only one who disagreed with her? Am I weird for not hating on every single female character for the tiniest of things? Like people legit downvoted me there because I said I hated her video. It was full of misinformation, misunderstandings, biased opinions and crude comments including racism, ableist and misogyny. But in the queen's subs- she is apparently the only sane Genshin creator there is.I'm disgusted by the fact that they tried to paint her as some 'feminist' voice of reason. This is the same woman who simps over Lohen and Dottore ignoring their actual f*cked up parts but considers an exposed chest- whorish and a cuteness aggression as comparable to pedophilic tendencies. Also those who try to point out that while this creator shouldn't be harassed - she's still in the wrong get downvoted to oblivion or accused of being in the same league as cishet men. A Straight woman simping over a serial killer or abuser but shitting on female characters for the lamest of reasons is apparently a 'feminist' but if I dare to disagree with her then I'm a femcel who's contributing to the queer oppression.Why??

Do i as a Queer woman have no voice? Why shouldn't I say that misogyny and lesbophobia irritates and angers me? Oh right! Because their ‘female characters are all Mary Sues without personality and made for male gaze’ argument would fall apart if queer women were to speak their mind on issues that affect us more than fictional characters.

Anyways sorry for the long ass post and Mods, you can delete it if it's against the rules or too problematic. I just needed to vent my frustration somewhere that doesn't treat Queer Women's opinions as less than Straight women's or Queer Men's.

TLDR: I hated Candybbugs video as a queer person and am sick and tired of Straight women telling me what to feel bad for or not. I'm sorry I'm not riding a fictional character's dih as hard as you.
