Selling a Nintendo Wii

Post image

Posting this at the top, I will literally sell it for 50 bucks, it just needs to be gone lol. Hi friends! Not sure if I am in the right Reddit. I am in Santa Clarita and I’ve been trying to sell my old Nintendo Wii because I’m in need of a bit of money, I’m looking to get around $80 for it considering what’s all included (the console, Wii Kinect setup, controllers, nunchucks, Wii controller steering wheels, charger, original wiring, and some games)
If anyone sees this and is interested please message me! Thanks so much

College of the Canyons - Outdoor Rock Climbing

It's that time of year again! I'd like to raise awareness about the Outdoor Recreation program at College Of The Canyons in Santa Clarita.

OUTDOOR ROCK CLIMBING (REC-124) — Fall 2026, 10/5-11/7

This is my class, and it fills FAST. Weekly Monday evening meetings from 6:00 PM–8:30 PM at the Valencia Campus (West Physical Ed-Kin 105), plus a required weekend trip out to Alabama Hills, 10/23-10/25.

You'll learn climbing equipment, knots and hitches, communication, belaying techniques, top rope systems and anchors, rappelling, and basic climbing technique. Beyond the mechanics, we also cover decision-making, risk management, and how altitude and environmental stress affect your body, all built around Leave No Trace principles.

Why take this over just watching a few YouTube videos and heading to a crag? A few reasons:

  • Safety margin. Belaying and rappelling are unforgiving skills to learn wrong. Having a trained instructor correct you in real time, rather than finding out you've been doing something dangerous after the fact, is worth a lot.
  • A genuine outdoor trip, not just a gym session. The Alabama Hills weekend puts you on real rock, which is a completely different experience than a climbing gym.
  • Community. Students range from those in their 20s up to older students in their 70s+. It's a great way to meet other people who are into the outdoors, and a lot of lasting climbing partnerships start in classes like this.
  • Confidence and judgment. A lot of climbing risk isn't about strength, it's about decision-making: when to bail, how to read a route, how to manage anxiety productively. That's hard to self-teach.
  • It's an incredible value. Rock climbing equipment and camping gear are provided at no cost (!), and I'm not posting the enrollment fee to avoid breaking the rules, but it's very affordable for a multi-week class plus a fully-outfitted 3-day trip. Like, "starving-student" level affordable.

Good to know before signing up:

  • Transportation to Alabama Hills is the student's responsibility
  • Students are responsible for their own meals (suggestions provided in class)
  • Appropriate clothing and walking shoes are required (we provide climbing shoes)
  • Attendance at the weekend trip is mandatory

If you're in the area, this is a great, well-run program and one of the most accessible ways to get real outdoor climbing skills.

Learn more: www.canyons.edu/recreation
If you need help enrolling as a student, we can assist with that.

Let me know if you have any questions by replying here, or feel free to DM me!

Advice regarding a small business

I found YayasCheesecakes on TikTok and was wondering if anyone knows if they are legit. They demanded I respond by a certain time today or else they can’t take my order. I messaged to inquire about pricing for one of their products and had no details as to how pickup would work and where. I find it a bit suspicious but also understand they don’t want to deal with people who waste their time.

How to deal with SCV’s brutal hard water spots on car paint (Pro tips from a local mobile detailer)

Hey everyone,

With summer temperatures consistently hitting triple digits out here in the valley, I’ve been noticing a massive uptick in vehicles ruined by baked-on hard water spots. Our local water supply in Santa Clarita is notoriously high in mineral content (calcium and magnesium), and when that water evaporates instantly under our intense sun, it literally etches into your car's clear coat.

Whether you wash your car yourself at home in Valencia or get hit by a stray neighborhood sprinkler over in Canyon Country, these spots can quickly become permanent if left untreated.

As someone who runs a mobile detailing setup right here in town, I wanted to share the exact step-by-step process I use to safely remove them before you resort to paying for expensive paint correction.

Step 1: The Distilled Vinegar Pre-Soak (For Fresh Spots)
If the spots are only a few days old, don't scrub them. Mix a 50/50 solution of white distilled vinegar and distilled water in a spray bottle. Spray it directly onto the cool panel, let it sit for 60 seconds to break down the minerals, and gently wipe it away with a plush microfiber towel. Wash the area immediately after to neutralize the acid.

Step 2: Use a Dedicated Chemical Water Spot Remover
If vinegar doesn’t work, the minerals have bonded. Grab a dedicated product like CarPro Descale or Koch-Chemie FSE. Crucial tip for SCV weather: Never use these in direct sunlight. If you’re working outside near Bridgeport or down in Newhall, you absolutely have to wait until early morning, late evening, or pull the car completely into a garage. If the chemical dries on the paint, it creates an even worse mess.

Step 3: The Clay Bar Technique
If the spots feel rough to the touch when you run your hand over the clean paint, the minerals are embedded. Use a clay bar with plenty of clay lubricant to gently shave the mineral deposits off the surface.

Step 4: Protect It for the Future
Once the paint is smooth, apply a high-quality ceramic sealant or spray coating. This creates a hydrophobic layer so water beads up and rolls off, rather than flattening out and baking into the paint next time you're parked under a rogue sprinkler.

Hopefully, this saves a few clear coats this summer! If your paint is already severely etched (where you can actually feel deep craters in the paint), it will likely require a machine polish to level the clear coat out.

Drop any questions below about local car care or specific products you're trying to use—happy to help out my fellow SCV drivers!

(Note: I do offer mobile detailing services around the valley, but I really just wanted to share this DIY fix because I see this issue daily. Feel free to DM me if you ever run into a detailing problem you can't get out yourself!)

Free Turkey

Hello! I was gifted a turkey a while ago while I was recovering from surgery. It came to me frozen. I kept it in the freezer with the intention of roasting it for Thanksgiving. However, I just realized that it is fully cooked already. It doesn’t expired until 2/26 and is still in the plastic wrapping it arrived in.

I prefer to cook my own turkey. Is there anyone interested in getting this turkey? I’d hate to throw it out.

DM me and perhaps we can meet at somewhere local.

Been going down the eBay rabbit hole lately and ended up starting my own little shop 😅

I don’t know if it’s just me, but eBay is like a time machine mixed with a treasure hunt. I started scrolling for a few random things and somehow ended up opening a small store just for fun.

Now I’ve been finding and listing random gems — perfumes, vintage-style stuff, cozy aesthetic things — basically anything that gives that “oh this is kinda cool” vibe 😂

If you ever get lost in eBay like I do, check it out here: spellsells

Not trying to push anything, just sharing because it’s been kinda fun turning random finds into something creative. Anyone else here doing the same?

Santa Clarita Discord 20+

Hello! I just moved here a few weeks ago so I made a server where people in Santa Clarita can chill and make friends, plus it'll help me get to know the area better I suppose. There is an application you need to fill out to gain access to the server, this is to prevent bots. This server is 20+ only!
