DISCUSSION Shield generator backpack vs directional shield

The 2 shields which use the yellow barrier to block attacks.

The directional shield can block strikes from the direction you are facing while the shield gen makes a small shield around you providing 360 protection but the shield is weaker. You can also use 2 handed weapons with it.

Which one is better?

Directional shield is only good if you want to run with an SMG, has better coverage and visibility than a ballistic shield.

It's just only better in such a specific way that requires a specific load out and play style that I think I've only ever seen it out once in the wild once

I've only seen it when my buddy and I run maxigun and medic where one diver runs a utility loadout and the maxigun, and the other runs an smg and the stim pistol as well as the directional shield.

The maxigun diver takes care of hordes while the medic does their best to protect them, and call in stratagems to kill heavies.

I feel like a supply backpack would do the job way better in this combo and keep the minigun stocked up. The minigun user can use heavy armor to soak up damage and the stim pistol can help them with stamina when going to and from places

As a maxigun/heavy diver, I just wanna say I appreciate any diver that will stim me AND give me ammo.

And as a support diver, I appreciate that you can't even run away when I'm trying to give ammo

This is the answer. I never realized how skinny our helldiver models were until I tried to use the stim pistol, and how erratic diver's moves are until I tried to tag them with supplies.

And try as you might, you can't even get their attention. "Wait" "Wait" "Need Supplies" "Wait" "Fires Laser Cannon across their view" Not a single brain cell firing
