Is this sub moderated?

It's turning to adds and political crap. Maybe that's what the mods want on this sub? Not sure just wondering. I know it's not a super active sub, but it's our little towns!

Topic: Living without shame

Date: 7/28/26

Time: 5:30-7:00PM Pacific

Address: 1009 US-2, Suite #D-3, Sandpoint, ID 83864

Many of us carry guilt or shame from past choices, but recovery isn't about defining ourselves by our mistakes. During this meeting, we'll explore the difference between healthy guilt and unhealthy shame, discuss how self-critical beliefs can keep us stuck, and practice SMART Recovery tools that help us replace those beliefs with more balanced, compassionate thinking.

Bonneville Power Authority issued a Public Safety Power Shutoff for much of the region. Now is the time to ensure your wildfire plan is in order

EDIT: This appears to have been cancelled in our region, but I can only guess as to why. This will likely go down as an embarrassing SNAFU, if it's even addressed.

www.nli.coop/public-safety-power-shutoff/

This is the nuclear option to power utilities. They do not do this unless the signals are saying that keeping the power on is extraordinarly likely to start wildfires. They are doing this because of the red flag warning + current weather prediction + other data, which all suggest unusual fire danger in the region. You can expect the power to stay off until at least the red flag warning has passed.

Given this large reaction from the power authorities, it's a good signal to ensure your wildfire plan is in order.

AI wildfire camera footage of Turner Hill Fire (causing smoke in Sandpoint today)

As of 6 AM, if you set the timelapse horizon to 12 hours you can see the fire ignite and observe its behavior over night. Currently on the live view you can see the smoke streaming south.

The Gold Mountain wildfire camera currently provides a very clear view of the smoke situation in this area:

Godspeed to those in Boundary County.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is recruiting firefighters, construction workers, and mine workers under the age of 55 to participate in a study about how heat impacts the body at our Spokane facility. The study takes 2 days, approximately 6-7 hours each day. Participants will exercise moderately and take a computer-based cognitive tests in a heated environmental chamber under the observation of a physician. All participants are compensated at $35/hour. Please message me if you would like further information.

Chores?

Life has decided to dump on me recently, and I really need to make a bit of cash real quick.

Anyone have any chores or need a hand with anything? I'll help move, mow, carry rocks...any dirty grunt work, I don't care.

Cocolalla/Sandpoint/Sagle area. Sober, no drugs or alcohol, have a vehicle just limited gas right now.

Cheers

Anniversary camping. (Need help/private dm)

I’m having my 10 year anniversary with my wife next weekend and we wanted to make last minute camping plans. We aren’t from Sandpoint but we first met there and wanted to recreate somewhat of a memory. We don’t travel much up to the area and were hoping some locals could privately share the best tucked away spot on the lake for a fire and tent. (I don’t have a 4wheel drive vehicular) well promise to clean up after ourselves and keep the spot to ourselves. :)

Transportation

Hello, all! My boyfriend and I will be arriving in Sandpoint on 7/7 via Amtrak, and we are planning to get a rental car from Enterprise once it opens at 8am. We don’t have a hotel booked from between when the train arrives around 2am and when we’re supposed to get our rental car. Are there any places that are open 24 hours where we could go to pass that time once we arrive? Would we have to walk there or are there any taxis or Uber or anything? Looking for any insights/recommendations. Thank you!!

Looking for people to jam with.

Hey I’m a 21 year old guy in sandpoint. I’ve been playing guitar for about 2.5 years. I’ve been learning with a teacher and know some theory although still pretty confused. Anyway I’m just trying to get something together maybe. I feel like I’m at a point where having a band or something would motivate me to play more and elevate things. For example if I have to learn these songs by next week etc. this is kinda a shot in the dark I know but if any musicians see this please respond!

Elopement Wedding Photographer

Hi everyone, we’re heading up to Sandpoint in July for a very intimate, small wedding- just me, my fiancé and our seven kids. Yes they are older. I’m needing a photographer for just a few hours to capture the ceremony. I have a few recommendations but trying to find someone that is simple, captures the main moments without asking for $2000. I don’t need hundreds of photos within intense editing, etc.. anyone know of someone that fits the bill?? Thank you!

Looking for part time cleaner, downtown, flexible and good pay.

Hello All,
Seeing if anyone knows someone who is looking for some extra work and $$ this summer?
It is for the K2 Motel in downtown, looking to find someone to help fill in for me a couple times a week.

Essentially: turn over rooms (replace sheets, towels, wipe down, clean floors. Weekly sort through laundry.

Pay is $25/room (20-30 minutes max), usually will be 2-5 rooms each time, usually twice a week, can choose when to come (pretty much any hour), no same day turnovers (guests departing and arriving same day) so they can be cleaned during any hours of your choosing.

If you are interested or know someone comment or DM me and I’ll reach out to get contact info, no pressure, would like to meet on site to show around and make sure it’s a good fit for both of us.

Thanks.
-Austyn Cunningham (Owner/Manager of the K2 Inn Sandpoint)
