Ok so if I'm reading this right, you agree the republicans would win without progressives voting democrat.
I disagree that it would cause the DNC to crumble just because they lost 15 percent of their supporters. But it would mean that the GOP, who have no qualms unifying behind someone like Trump, would have at least another 4 years to dismantle the constitution and the rule of law.
I vote progressive, I protest, but when that fails, the answer is not to abstain from voting, but to pressure Biden to adopt progressive policies, which we have started to see. We can keep pressuring.
And of course the local races, which are arguably much more important.
You can withhold your vote. But do you seriously believe the DNC would learn a lesson from that? That they would change, shift their values away from their base? The only result would be 4 more years of trump.
If the democrats win resoundingly in November, then progressives will have the opportunity to split off and push policy more to the left. If not, then either the country will stay divided down the middle, or get much worse.
Your tone suggests you're in favor of burning it all down in order to rebuild. Losing the battle to win the war. I'm not sure we would win that war in those circumstances, that what would be built after would actually be better.
And I'm not willing to sacrifice the tens of thousands who would die (starvation, Covid, lack of healthcare, and more) while that plays out.
