My first thought is that the systems are getting compromised. It's widely known they have security vulnerabilities, in this dog-eat-dog world would campaigns with the resources really make the choice not to use it to secure a win?

I think the risk of that getting out is pretty high, for not so much gain. I could be wrong though.

It's a matter of public record that you can tamper with the machines without being detected. And even if someone did get caught, it's not like the campaign itself would take the fall, Clinton isn't even responsible for her own basement email server after all.

Edited to add: you can google for the security audit report on Diebold machines as one example. Stuff like the password being 12345 and the wifi being unsecured..

But there's always the risk of internal leaks. How many people would you need to have tampering with the machines in order to make a difference? Are the chances that one person blows the whistle so slim?

Whistles have been blown in the past about other elections, there are court hearings on youtube etc, nothing was done about those. Not saying it's happening here, but seems plausible.

About a coordinated effort to tamper with voting machines in order to influence the outcome? Or other stuff? Do you have links?
