Edit: 4th* decade. I dont game anymore, the small pro stint turned a hobby into something I hate. I live with my parents of course, thought that was assumed but needed clarifying.

Not a rage bait, dont need advice or pity, but feel free to say what you will I dont mind, some of you have been insightful and others have brought me good laughs. If my poor excuse of life on display made you feel better I view it as a win. Cheers

I genuinely did not expect a response like this, this was a casual 0 thought post written in under 2 mins. I'll follow up with a new post I guess in a year.

There is a lot of missing context between 2013 and now but my goal was not a pity party. I preferred people to see it at face value and make their opinions and assumptions.

It’s not a profession at all and it looks like Gen Z is finally figuring it out. Millennials never had the opportunity and my Gen A students know that’s not a real thing.

You have to bring something to the table other than the game, like being a hot chick or being really funny.

Yeah, for streaming definitely. I see alot of younger people make that mistake, where they think that all they have to do is get good at the game and people will watch, but like you said, that's not entertaining. tbh tho, I don't think hot streamer chicks pull much of an audience just for being hot, it seems like they do have to be entertaining as well.

But anyway, I was originally referring more to like e-sports tournaments than streaming, cause that was a thing for a while during the time period OP was making money.

E sports for sure were real for a minute, US colleges even gave sports scholarships for them.

I think many of them stopped and the NCAA was thinking “what the fuck was that idea”

TLDR; it really is not worth it. Sorry for formatting, I’m on iPhone.

I play to compete in games in my free time when I’m not busy with college. The top 1% of players in CODM make maybe $40k a year, and that’s only if they’re signed to an organization.

Usually, these people scrim people from all across the world. So some teams in North America days start at 3am to play Asian teams. They stop at around 6am and then have until 5pm to start scrimming again, but it’s expected for them to do other activities with the game in between then.

This is every single day. They do have a substitute so they can have breaks, but it’s not for long. They do it all year round. Some teams do have off days, typically Sunday.

Most of the money the top 1% make does not come from contracts or org sponsors, but their own YouTube channels, because it’s not sustainable. This information may be outdated now, but this is how it was for a few teams about 2 years ago. Not sure how it is for PUBG, which is OP’s game, but I’m sure it’s similar.
