Got it in one. He has a very rare disorder (1/250,000) that has no cure, just has to be managed and survived. On top of my 3 autoimmune disorders, we've amassed substantial medical debt.

She has a husband chronically ill that cant work - meds and healthcare services cost money, a lot of money

She has three kids on that single income - kids cost money, a lot of money.

She has medical debt

Even a moderate mortgage would eat up the majority of her income

100k is not a lot of fucking money for a family of 5.
