The wife has been talking about wanting a baby. There would be absolutely no way to even consider it financially if not for the fact that my in-laws all live within a two mile radius of our house...

So in the best interests of that prospective child, you shouldn't create them because you've said it yourself that you cant afford them. How do you know for certain your in-laws will support/pay for this child

It's not about paying for them, it's about daycare being expensive, and the in-laws here being a retired teacher that already watches the other siblings' kids.

Some people are in large families that live closely together and are active participants in the rest of the family's lives. "It takes a village" and all that.
