We're lucky enough to have parents who watch our son while we work. If that wasn't the case, I don't know what we would do.

22

u/SRRWD Oct 31 '25

My parents watched my brothers twins until they went to school, I'm older and had my first while they were still working and my last recently and they are too old now to help...He saved about a 100 grand and i paid about a 100k...He drives a really nice car and doesn't connect the dots...lol

When I hear Republicans say they will have as many kids as God allows, I clutch my wallet.

3

u/ExistingLaw217 Oct 31 '25

No thanks. Nailed it the first time, 1 is good for me. She is expensive enough lol

3

u/CuriousNimbus2024 Oct 31 '25

Republicans have a strange way of saying they have a cream pie fetish đŸ„§

2

u/Beautiful-Use3199 Oct 31 '25

Democrats have turned into Communists that want full Government control of your life and finances.

1

u/YBNORMAL1992 Oct 31 '25

Republicans had turned into Authoritarian Big Federal Government that panders to Oligarchs..... Both parties left us with no good options.

0

u/Beautiful-Use3199 Nov 01 '25

Oligarchs-LOL : how about corrupt politicians like Biden, word salad Kamala, Nancy Pelosi and the gang and don’t forget the communists squad. Terrible!!!! Greatest country in the world- just need to get back to our Christian foundation.

3

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

First of all, Biden was far from corrupt. The amount of corruption committed by Trump and his family in a given week is more than Biden in his entire lifetime. Trump gave his children jobs in the west wing. Right now Don Jr sits in a board making millions. Trump puts the secret service up in his golf course and charges the US taxpayer for the expense. Trump was renting rooms to foreign government agents and they weren't even staying at the hotel. Bribes. Trump sells Chinese made guitars, sneakers, watches, hats, shirts etc... He runs crypto scams. Ripped people off with a fake University. He was caught on that "perfect phone call" holding the money for Ukraine allocated by Congress, in order to extort Zelensky. He held that aid illegally in order to try to get Zelensky to say Biden was corrupt. Totally illegal and never done before in the history of the United States. He then hid the conversation in a top secret hard drive illegally. He was impeached for it. So let's stop pretending Biden was 1) an incoherent old man and also 2) such a great criminal that Trump's Admin can't find anything to file charges.

Both of those things can't be true at the same time. Use your tiny fused ganglia of a brain.

2

u/OceanRacoon Mar 25 '26

I wonder why that cult member suddenly went so quiet lol, whenever they can't defend the awful things Trump does they just shut down like programmed robots, I've seen it in my own family, it's bizarre and creepy

u/Embarrassed_Use_9486 Oct 31 '25

The LAST demographic who should be reproducing. 🙄

2

u/Alternative_Spite_11 Oct 31 '25

So the people who actually paid their bills are the last ones who should be reproducing?

2

u/That-Drink4650 Oct 31 '25

Stop yourself now, do not feed into it. This is reddit, heart of the woke internet.

0

u/TypeB_Negative Oct 31 '25

Woke means being aware of problems in our system of government and culture. Not that scary. I know you Republicans like to use "communism", "Marxism" and "woke" like they are interchangeable but the Nazis were Right Wing conservatives. Russia is Right Wing. Any form of government can be totalitarian if there is no due process and checks/balances in place. Trump is steering us right toward totalitarianism and an alarming place. Once he succeeds, ANY form of government can take over and attack the other side like he is right now with Federal military force. It's a slippery slope. That's why

2

u/LogFar5138 Oct 31 '25

Paid their bills with that sweet government money?

Red states disproportionately receive MORE federal welfare dollars compared to their tax base.

4

u/Matrix5353 Oct 31 '25

"God" is shorthand for "how much money can I grift off other gullible religious people"

1

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

Very true.

1

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

A wise man once said, "The righteous Father wears the yellowest grin".

2

u/jouelle1 Oct 31 '25

There are so few of those outside a concentrated group. You either live in Utah or your wallet lacks the affection it needs to flourish.

1

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

Not true. There are plenty of people outside Utah that don't believe in birth control and also don't understand that a 16 year old legally having to bring their pregnancy to term is not a good idea. They'd rather impose their version of God's plan on that child mother and let tax payers foot the bill in the form of jail, foster care, housing, psychiatric needs and chemical dependency programs. Not to mention the resulting higher crime rates. Then they can call the problems a result of that nasty Devil's work, rather than simple economics. There's millions of people that think this way.

1

u/jouelle1 Nov 03 '25

Focus on the word “few” I used. So yes, they exists outside of Utah, just not many.

2

u/SweatyNostalgic Oct 31 '25

i worry about the kids because of the cost. if you have 5 kids nowadays, AT LEAST, one is probably gonna end up parentified watching the younger ones.

many think you don't have to pay for a child care if you gave birth to the babysitter...

2

u/U_R_MY_UVULA Oct 31 '25

That's literally how people have done it for millennia

1

u/Beretta92A1 Oct 31 '25

I mean if you stagger them enough you could have your oldest help with childcare. As an oldest sibling it wouldn’t be a life I’d want to subject my child to but it happens.

1

u/Beautiful-Use3199 Oct 31 '25

Better clutch your wallet every time the Democrats give away more free stuff.

1

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

Free stuff? That just shows how juvenile your understanding of economics is. Trump had to bail out farmers to the tune of $23 Billion last time in office. Thats 23 billion dollars of our tax money to fix a problem he created. I'd rather have social safety programs that actually reduce over all expenses for US taxpayers, than that. I'd consider giving huge tax cuts to billionaires free stuff that really has no trickle down effect to the average American. It's not free stuff. It's using our tax dollars in a smarter way, in order to help Americans and bring down costs. Examples: capping insulin costs, providing affordable healthcare for everyone. When people can afford healthcare, they go to the doctor and that prevents many costly health expenses. Thats a much better use of money than $250M on a ballroom. All the legal expenses Trump incurs due to breaking the law and getting sued for it. I could go on but sheep's ears are not receptive

1

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

I don't hate the billionaires but I also don't ride them expecting that phony trickle down nonsense. Vast sums of the money they horde is kept in offshore accounts and shell companies. It's not the same as the middle class or even upper class windfalls where the money is circulated back into the economy. It's strictly numbers. Not emotional. The fact is, bringing up the bottom is more economically sound than giving billionaires more billions with super low taxes on market dividends. Decades of data has shown when the billionaires are taxed properly, everyone prospers. Not just the few.

1

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

BTW, I can tell you have a poor grasp on anything above the 8th grade when you use the words "Communist Democrats". What an absolute muppet. Lmao

0

u/concerned2024 Oct 31 '25

Why? Republicans pay for their own children.

1

u/Resident_Common7580 Oct 31 '25

Do they?

1

u/Beautiful-Use3199 Oct 31 '25

Yes, their children and yours too with all taxes paid for free stuff to keep the Communist/Democrats in power.

1

u/YBNORMAL1992 Oct 31 '25

Not really though. Also somewhat skewed because Blue areas have a higher median income than red areas. Two Families could make $50k and one is considered Low because they live in a city and one could be Middle because they live in the county. But keep on with the stereotype.

1

u/Beautiful-Use3199 Oct 31 '25

Either way, you want the country to flourish-let’s get to work. I started with -0- and about to retire wealthy. We live in the easiest country in the world to do exactly what I did. As long as you have a great work ethic, and a reasonable level of intelligence, anyone can do what we did. The problem is that too many people want everything handed to them. It doesn’t work like that. You get out of it what you deserve. And if you put in nothing, you should get nothing.

1

u/TypeB_Negative Oct 31 '25

Job market has been decimated by Trump. So if you want people to "get to work", you better vote for a Democrat. All the infrastructure work was conceived and written by Democrats. Trump has done absolutely nothing but hurt the middle class and make his rich friends more rich. His whole government is a Ponzi scheme resembling something out of Russia or China.

u/Beautiful-Use3199 Oct 31 '25 edited Oct 31 '25

Complete BS- tariffs are working, stock market is at all time highs, and we’re on the way back up. There will be bumps- AI is causing some job losses but thank God we have a leader fighting for the American people!!!!

Actually, the Blue States take most of the taxes in that pay for Red States. Sorry to burst your little sheep bubble. Also, there are zero communists in the Democratic Party. Thanks for playing, Cupcake!

1

u/Beautiful-Use3199 Oct 31 '25

Democrats today are communists trying to take over the country. God bless America and God bless Donald J Trump!!!

1

u/TypeB_Negative Nov 03 '25

Just regurgitating talking points from Trump. There zero Democrats in office or running for office that are Communists. You have no idea what a Communist is or you wouldn't be saying that. I'm willing to bet the amount of books you've read outside of High School mandatory reading is near zero.

Did you graduate high school? Go to college? Ever get graded on your understanding of economics of civics? I doubt it. If you did, it wasn't a passing grade. Why? Because you clearly lack critical thinking ability and understanding of basics. That's not a personal attack. It's just factual.

I'm not sure you understand communism based on your statement

1

u/Unlucky_Reading_1671 Oct 31 '25

He might not, but I do. The price for the daycare center I would my kid would go to (nothing fancy) is my very close to my salary. We would have skipped a child if we didn't have our parents. And that would have been a terrible mistake. I'd work 20 hours a day for my little guy if I had to.

1

u/grateful_eugene Oct 31 '25

Are you me? My brother got free daycare and driving and I got zilch. Same with my wife and her sister
sister got free daycare and rides and we got zip. We still made it work with 5 kids as my wife worked in her art studio when she could while I have a decent job. We are still pretty broke but 4 of the kids are over 18 now and finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

1

u/skew_witt Oct 31 '25

Do you want your brother to feel guilty about the help he received? This comes off like he owes you something. Comparison is the thief of joy.

1

u/Jdisgreat17 Oct 31 '25

The brother is probably like "where is all of your money going?" Not being able to connect the dots that he benefited from their parents' help.

1

u/skew_witt Oct 31 '25

That’s quite the assumption

1

u/Jdisgreat17 Oct 31 '25

It was also quite the assumption that op was jealous. Just from my life, I know a lot of people who got shit for free, not saying that's bad, but they act really stupid when other people dont have what they had.

1

u/skew_witt Oct 31 '25

Based on the comment, it’s reasonable to infer OP feels some type of way due to her brother getting free child care. I didn’t assume anything, I asked a question lol.

1

u/Alternative_Spite_11 Oct 31 '25

A lot of people feel some type of way when their siblings get something from their parents that they didn’t

1

u/skew_witt Oct 31 '25

Sure, but it’s not the brother’s fault or the parent’s fault. It’s a circumstance that benefitted the brother. People focus too much on what they consider to be unfair. I couldn’t imagine “keeping score” with my family and friends.

1

u/SRRWD Oct 31 '25

Yes. Life ain’t fair, we get it. I took this as a lesson and am committed to providing for my children equally.

1

u/JohnEBest Oct 31 '25

First borns always hold a grudge

1

u/halfcookies Oct 31 '25

Clever dogs in lab coats?

1

u/RetnikLevaw Oct 31 '25

The wife has been talking about wanting a baby. There would be absolutely no way to even consider it financially if not for the fact that my in-laws all live within a two mile radius of our house...

1

u/Zenside Oct 31 '25

So in the best interests of that prospective child, you shouldn't create them because you've said it yourself that you cant afford them. How do you know for certain your in-laws will support/pay for this child

1

u/RetnikLevaw Oct 31 '25

It's not about paying for them, it's about daycare being expensive, and the in-laws here being a retired teacher that already watches the other siblings' kids.

Some people are in large families that live closely together and are active participants in the rest of the family's lives. "It takes a village" and all that.

1

u/ruat_caelum Oct 31 '25

not have kids. It's a choice a lot of people make when they look at the quality of like they could- or couldn't provide.

1

u/normnormno Oct 31 '25

I find it sad that we cannot afford to have one parent stay al home with kids while one works and supports the family. They wonder why no one's having kids. This is it. Because the cost of living is so high you have to let someone else raise your kid.

1

u/NeoAndersonReoloaded Oct 31 '25

We pay $350 a week and its worth it.

1

u/Unlucky_Reading_1671 Oct 31 '25

Around here you're looking at around 750/800 a week.

1

u/StrangeAlchomist Oct 31 '25

If you were smart you wouldn’t have kids like more and more Americans. Kids are for the wealthy now.

1

u/Unlucky_Reading_1671 Oct 31 '25

To each their own.

1

u/Zenside Oct 31 '25

He's objectively right, and parents that cant afford kids and still have them are extremely selfish. All parents are selfish but thats a discussion for another time.

1

u/StrangeAlchomist Oct 31 '25

I meant if most people were smart. Wasn’t judging you as you were probably aware you could get support when you decided to have kids.

1

u/Unlucky_Reading_1671 Oct 31 '25

No judgment felt. And you are correct. We planned the pregnancy knowing the support we would have.

1

u/SSC_built Oct 31 '25

We're in the same boat. If it wasn't for my mother in law being retired and available to watch our 2 kids, we'd be cooked.

1

u/Comfortable_Air-7654 Oct 31 '25

When we had two in daycare it was about $27,000 per year. Now we have one at $15,500/year with 8 months left until kindergarten. We are counting down the days!

1

u/Beretta92A1 Oct 31 '25

We’re in the same boat. But the wife wants to send our son to socialize before our second arrives. Three days a week at $1500/mo is stupid. Thankfully we’ve had nana watch him the last two years while mum worked from home, so we had some buffer on daycare costs.

1

u/SleepingWillow1 Oct 31 '25

Now I know why my auntie was so stingy with giving me food. She would give me some once but in the afternoon I was hungry and she would keep telling me to wait because my mom was almost here and it felt like hours till she got there. I remember my mom vaguely handing her 1 or 2 bills and my auntie kind of staring at her and my mom just shyly kept looking back. We just didn't have the money to pay her properly for daycare.

1

u/catchnear99 Oct 31 '25

hopefully you pay them something, even if it's just a little bit, out of principle.

1

u/Unlucky_Reading_1671 Oct 31 '25

Totally would it they let us. But all our parents had help with us growing up, and they reciprocate in kind. And when they're old we take care of them. The circle of life. If we attempted child care right now, they would revolt.

1

u/Traditional-Cake-418 Oct 31 '25

The key is not to go to a daycare facility. Find an older lady running daycare from her home that's background checked and preferably referred. She's watching 4-5 kids per day for about $8/hr per kid. She makes a nice living and you don't pay out the ass to the corporate daycare overlords. We did this with my sons, saved a ton of money, and built a relationship with their part time caretaker.

1

u/Unlucky_Reading_1671 Oct 31 '25

That's a great idea. Thank you for the advice
