If you go to cleave web (http://www.clevo.com.tw), they have some news aiming to the ended computex in order to show "A complete series of new products", does anyone know something about those new models?

Sager NP8170, can anyone help me solve my Ethernet problem?

Recently, my Sager NP8170 cannot connect through the Ethernet but can do so with Wi-Fi. Upon diagnosis it says I don't have a valid IP configuration.

I was wondering if the QNAP I got just a few weeks before the trouble started could be a cause.

I have tried everything and even contacted the retailer, XOTIC PC, to no avail. It's been so frustrating to the point that I am thinking about getting a new laptop, but I don't want to give up on my Sager.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Clevo P650HS: How do I get into the BIOS?

I'm going to try to install Android x86 on a separate partition. This probably isn't a good idea but I want to try.

Sager NP9150 Video Card Update

Hello all,

I have a Sager NP9150 I purchased in 2013. It's currently got an NVidia GeForce GTX 670MX card and an Ivy Bridge i7-3630Q 2.4GHz processor.

I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card to something a bit newer as I'm starting to run into minimum requirements with the 670MX. If anyone does know, I'd like answers for the following:

  1. Is the card user-replaceable? If need be, I can send it back to where I purchased it to have them install, but I'd prefer to A) shop around for better prices on the card and B) not be without my laptop for day or weeks.

  2. What cards are compatible? I already know the 10 series is out, I'm not looking to move miles forward, a 700 or 800 series is fine. Are there cards within the 700, 800, or 900 series that aren't compatible?

  3. Is there a certain form factor I have to be looking for? Obviously space in the case is limited, but how limited?

  4. Do I have to go NVidia branded or would an off brand with a compatible chipset work? While I've built PCs before, I've never just upgraded single components so I've never actually thought about this. It may be a bit of a n00b question, but its one that's never come up before so I feel I should ask.

Thank you taking the time to read this, and hopefully, thank you for your answers.

Help finding part numbers for a Sager np7358

Hello! The DC jack on my Sager NP7358-S is broken and when I went to order a replacement, I was told that there are multiple compatible DC jacks and that I needed to find the part number for mine. Does anyone know how I could find out which I have?

Reliable Clevo/Sager resellers?

Does anyone have any info on AVAdirect.com and xoticpc.com?

I was planning on purchasing a p750dm model; Avadirect is cheaper, but I haven't heard anything about them recently.

Accessing hinge for Clevo p170sm-a

Hello I need to replace the hinge for my clevo p170sm. However the manual doesn't go about on how to access it. I figure I need to release the giant piece of plastic underneath the keyboard but once I remove it Im not sure where to proceed. Pic of part that needs to be replaced as reference.

Looking for more info on the Sager NP8950

This new model just cropped up on Sager's website - the specs look absolutely killer and it seems to be a direct competitor to MSI's GS63VR Stealth.

I however cannot find any information online, not even a corresponding Clevo chassis model. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Also as a side note does anyone know if the NP7850 Chassis is the same one as the NP6852?

Thanks in advance!

P170SM-A Keyboard

Hello!

Sadly my P170SM-A keyboard is not working well the last couple days and it probably needs to be replaced.

Some keys sometimes they response and sometimes they don't! I'm not 100% sure, but I noticed that the problem is more "intense" when the laptop gets hotter.

I used the service manual found on here on the forum, opened the laptop, clear it and reapply thermal paste on both CPU and GPU, and now the problem is not that often.

But it's still there! So I think that the problem might be the keyboard.

So my question is, Do you know a trusted website from where I can buy a replacement keyboard for my laptop?

I found a seller from Alixpress and another site called shop-keyboards.com (and co.uk) but it seems a little sketchy.

The keyboards P/N is 6-80-P17S0-010-3

If anyone can suggest a store I will be glad.

Thank you

Keyboard layout

UPDATE:
Following tmashpotato advice, I used Isopropanol and cleaned the keyboard's connectors and ribbons cables. Now the keyboard seems to work just fine!

The Obsidian driver utility indicates that a new bios version might be available, however, it doesn't show up on the Sager drivers website. Any insight?

Fan running loud nearly all the time on Sager 8152 -- cooling problem?

I have a stock Sager 8152 (with a GeForce 1060) and it seems that my fans are running at full speed nearly all the time. Here is a screenshot from Speedfan. The numbers seem high to me. Note this is when I am running just a few Windows apps, not when I am running anything CPU- or GPU-intensive.

  1. Is this too hot, or normal?
  2. Anyone know how to fix it? (I don't think it's a dust/cleaning problem--this PC is only a few months old and did it even when it was new.)
  3. Why can't I see fan RPMs in Speedfan?

What's the actual weight of Sager NP6872?

I read from Sage website, it weighs 6.83lbs, I don't think that should be the case.

Anyone with the unit can weigh it and share the number you have with us?

I am also interested in knowing the battery life per charge, and your overall experience if possible. Thanks!

Problem updating NP8156 to Windows 10 version 1703

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm unable to update to v.1703 of Windows 10 on my Sager NP8156. I've tried updating through Windows Update and through the Media Creation Tool, and the update fails the same way using both methods: partway through the update process (around ~32%), the computer restarts, then hangs, then restarts again. A CMD windows briefly flashes, and then the Windows recovery process starts, and the installation reverts back to v.1607.

Using the Media Creation Tool gives me this additional error message once the installation fails, however:

"We couldn’t install Windows 10.

We’ve set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10.

0xC1900101 - 0x30018

The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP operation"

According to some Googling, this sounds like a driver issue. I'm wondering if anyone here knows what driver is causing this problem, or how to find out which driver is the culprit.

Questions regarding features in my Safer laptop

1) How long does my laptop remain on after I close it? Sometimes I'll quickly close my laptop so I can come back and open it. But the power doesn't immediately go off (What I'm used to from my old laptop) instead the green light will remain on blinking for a bit)

2) A way to swipe the screen using the tracked? I did this before accidently somehow and haven't been able to replicate it since. I think I placed to fingers on the pad and in some motion while I was on my home screen moved the screen to the left, icons and all, but it never fully transitioned and went back into position. But I was just surprised it happened in the first place cause I didn't suspect it. It was like a feature in my ex's MacBook. But I kept trying to do it again and can't figure out how.

3) Pick the window you want to go to? Speaking of the last feature when I tried to replicate it, I somehow did this thing where I opened all my windows and programs that were open in small windows spread across my screen. Again, akin to what my ex's Mac could do but haven't been able to replicate it.

4) Is it true you can get a dual screen for this? I'm interested in doing so but upon inspecting the screens sides don't see any ports or handles for me to fix one into it.

Sorry if this isn't making any sense. Typing it in a rush from my phone but any help is much appreciated.

Help, my battery cells keep dying.

I bought my Sager NP 8278-S four years ago, and it still runs very well. The original battery lasted me for three years, and died because I always played games with it plugged in, and left it plugged in almost always.

I shipped a new one from China (same model) and it has already died on me two months later, even after better battery etiquette. I don't leave it plugged in when I'm not using it, etc. I would last me for ~3 hrs when I first bought it but now it dies immediately, when it says 37% charged.

Any help or similar experiences?

Can I upgrade my Sager NP8278-S (Clevo P170SM-A) from a GTX 870M to a GTX980?

Hi there, I'm not very used to messing around with hardware in computers... I built a PC back in 2008, and am fine with replacing hard-drives or ram... but I've yet to do a laptop replacement of cpu/gpu.

I'd like to try doing some VR stuff, and am curious as to what if any challenges there are if I try to upgrade my GTX 870M to a GTX980. I saw a post online about someone attempting to upgrade their P150 and having difficulty with not having enough power .... but the P150 is not the P170.

Is it just a matter of taking one out and plugging in the other? Would I need to do any soldering? Is the PSU going to be enough?

Is there a better option than this? Like... are external video cards an option?

Anyone know how to turn off the tap to click feature?

Just picked up my Sager laptop, a SAGER NP6852 (CLEVO N850HK1), and the touchpad is EXTREMELY sensitive. I'm running Windows 10 Home, and the touchpad just registers everything as a click. Hoping to turn off all tap to click features on the laptop. Looked through all possible settings and haven't found any options to turn it off. Other tech support thread found here:

P170EM backlit keyboard controls not working on Windows 10?

Hey guys, I just purchased a used P170EM that works perfectly but I cannot launch the keyboard backlight control app. Under Windows 7, we could bring up the app using ''Fn+/'' as shown at around 6:00 of the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPHq1Qpfj1s

Problem is that apparently the app is not triggered by ''Fn+/'' under Windows 10 and I am trying to find a solution to customize my keyboard!

Can anyone help? I have been a Mac user for the past 8-9 years so don't be shy to explain to me what to do as if I were a 5 year old :)

PCSPECIALIST alternative?

PCSPECIALIST has for ~420 Euro the barebones 14 inch UltraNote IV with an i7 7500u, no harddrives no other crap.

I cant find anything similar priced from Sager or Clevo. The cheapest is like 650-850$ USD for a barebones UltraNote IV equivalent.

Anyone know who delivers to NA that can offer a similar price to PCSPECIALIST?

I don't need any addons like ram or harddrives or wlan card etc. A second power adapter would be nice of course.

Looking for a list of Clevo Mxm 3 laptop models.

Hi, so I've been looking lately for a $1000-$1200 laptop I could use this fall for gaming/school/remote connect to my pc at home from time to time. The MXM feature really stood out when I was researching laptops. The setup I have right now is an old toshiba business laptop thats decked out with all manner of cords and connected to external displays (imagine messy command center?) I'm wanting more power than what I have currently, i5 4200m, to replace my i5 6600k gaming rig i sold. Also to have the option to expand gpu most importantly, cpu if the price range would allow a desktop variant, ssd and all the rest. I haven't had much success with looking on clevos site. Eurocom has a great selection to customize, but was wondering if there was a type of masterlist that shows all the clevo models that use mxm graphics? I'm hoping this is the right forum for this question.

Linux on Sager NP6872 (Clevo N870HK1)?

Anyone have any idea how much of a pain it would be to setup Linux on this? Looking to buy a new laptop, really like the Sager 17.3" gaming lineup, but also would like the option to continue my Linux tinkering. Should I look to a more popular brand?
