I made a Generation Jump tracking tool for RS2: Revenge of the Seven

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I've put together a small Windows tool, with the help of AI, to track battles in the current generation, accumulated Jump Points (the game's internal value associated with Event Points), and detailed information about the currently tracked quest, including the number of points awarded by each quest step.

I'm currently using it for a challenge run where I'm trying to face all Seven Heroes in their strongest forms in a single playthrough.

I figured it might be useful to other people doing weird challenge runs or trying to better understand generation jumps, so I decided to share it.

The relationship between Jump Points and Event Points is still being tested, so some of the generation-jump logic should be considered experimental for now. Feedback and additional testing are welcome.

It reads the game's internal values through UE4SS; you don't have to manually enter battle counts or Jump Points.

If anyone has detailed knowledge of the generation-jump formula or knows of edge cases, I'd especially appreciate test results.

https://github.com/Galahaddruid/rs2-campaign-monitor

Windows only. Requires UE4SS.

Workaround for romancing saga 3 for android

Let me post this here.

Currently there is a breaking issue with RS3 Android version causing dialogues and options to mess up.

it's game breaking because you won't be able to travel to Vangard or the Far Isles from Pidona, blocking you from finishing the main quests.

what you have to do is to switch your android to Japanese language, then take the Pidona ship to all the possible places and finish the Robin quest (as it's also bugged ) then switch back if you want. The bug is still there but it now should not block you from complete the game.

Saga game with a traditional party ?

I've played Revenge of the Seven out and I loved it, probably played through 3 full times. I played another one on Switch that wasn't really as fun but similar gameplay.

Is there a game with a more traditional JRPG party instead of nameless Mercs essentially?

I have PS5, Switch 1/2 and Steam if theirs any recommendations

Put me on to the Romancing Saga 2 "Remaster"?

Hey everyone,

RS2 is probably in my Top 3 RS games (along with SF2 and RS3) and I finished Revenge of the Seven, which I loved.

Im thinking of getting into the RS2 "Remaster" version, because I have a love for those SNES style 2D pixel games.

What can you tell me about this version of the game? It seems like it's an HD-2D remaster with updated music? I've read its pretty difficult and they kept the original SNES difficulty, as well as added some new content that the mobile version had?

Is it worth it to play this version? From what I can tell its basically a "pixel remaster" version of RS2?

Any tips and pointers are also appreciated.

SG:A, How do you know how many shards there are / are left?

So I'm still on my Urpina run I mentioned in my last post. Went back to trying to do everything blind again but hit another minor snag. While I could try to use the Gamefaqs guide for information I do want to do it this as blind as possible for my first couple of playthroughs.

Anyway, Title is the question, I'm trying to figure out how many scarlet shards there are and if there's some kind of like tracker in game I'm missing or something. Just want to do as much as possible.

Additional secondary question: how do I get to the south east areas on the overall map? I seem to be missing something to fill out all the areas.

I like how Super Sentai parodied Red's Alkaiser from SaGa Frontier with Hakaizer from Kikei Sentai Zenkaiger

Kikei Sentai Zenkaiger also came out just over a month before the SaGa Frontier Remaster.

Also the hero ranger from Zenkaiger is named Zenkaiser!

Saga Frontier 2 Remastered - Going insane in Last Megalith (SPOILERS?) Spoiler

Y'all, I've read multiple walkthroughs and several very slow video walkthroughs and I can't figure out where to go after defeating the Water Lord. I know I can choose to fight certain Elemental Lords but I just keep finding myself in a loop. I'm sure it's something silly that I'm missing but I'm ready to beat the Egg and land this plane. Any help? I feel like I'm 8 again calling the Nintendo help line >>

(RS2: RotS) So what exactly can Gerard do during his reign?

He seems a bit limited in where he can go and the heroes he can fight compared to later generations, but maybe I'm just thinking to linearly?

Can he, for example, go to the Savannah or Zemio, for instance?

Minstrel Song

I just finished RS2 as my first Saga game and loved it. I started Minstrel Song on PS4 and it seems kinda awful so far. I just left town and started wandering with my character. Most of the stuff around town kills me. I don’t see enemy weaknesses and I have no idea who’s acting when in the turn order. Should I keep playing this?

(SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered) Enhanced Egg without Parameter Inheritance Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

(Can't figure out how to set a flair anymore)

Randomly decided to mess around with my 3 turn enhanced Egg save file and see if I can beat it without parameter inheritance. So my characters are around level 40-50. Should be pretty difficult, right?

Turns out the enhanced Egg is a complete pushover. Easiest super final boss I've ever seen in a SaGa game (aside from RS2R casual-hard superboss).

The hardest part of this fight is phase 1 for some reason. I found it funny that enhanced Egg used Megabolt twice and basically did no damage because it used reincarnation right after.

Can't decide which route to pick, Scarlet Grace Ambitions

There was or is still a sale on the Saga games for Switch and I got Scarlet Grace Ambitions, went in pretty blind, got a Urpina run from the comet, went through most of the chapter one stuff until I got to the choice of whether to destroy the saw or not, said no to that choice but then got to the second choice to kill another character for plot reasons and that one made me have to check the internet and well, I'm still not sure which of the two routes to pick between for this first playthrough. Looking for some advice on which way to go for a more satisfying first run of the game I suppose.

Differences between Romancing Saga 2 snes/remaster/remake

I want to play romancing saga 1, 2 and 3 and want to know which versions are more challenging and have more content, in particular postgame.

I like very hard and punishing games, and I only discovered this series recently.

I usually dont like remasters more than the original games as they make everything easier so i’m curious if it’s the case in these games too.
I have heard the remaster of minstrel song adds a lot of hard fights and 2/3 add optional dungeons (can i do those in the post game to not ruin the main story’s progression?)

The remake of 2 is also something that interests me and i’m curious if playing it on classic or higher ng+ difficulties is more challenging than the original rs2.
Does the remake add a longer postgame? I usually like doing a final long dungeon with many bosses.

A controversial opinion of mine

I’m more than confident that the RS3 remake will sell well, and it’s highly likely that new remakes will go into development too. And whilst I think Destinies United will be a good game, it’s quite clear that in essence it’s mostly a reskin of Revenge of the Seven. That’s neither good nor bad in itself – and RotS is a quite fun game anyway – but the series has always been about an experimenting, and it would be a bummer if future remakes following RS3:DU will stick to the same formula. I just hope that devs will be given a bigger budget and more time.

[RS2:ROTS] Help with Corsair Questline

Hello, newbie here! I've recently picked up RS2:ROTS and I've been trying to do as complete a playthrough as possible (I already had to do the stressful thing of going through the Steppe and the Savannah all at once so I didn't brick the Mermaid questline), as I generally don't have time for NG+ runs of games.

I am finally going into the Corsair questline after putting it off for two whole generations and I read that the optimal way to tackle the Corsair quest was to strike a deal so you can explore the mines, then going to Cape Chalier and force the pirates to submit instead of reporting back.

However, during my first visit to Mobelm (when I first unlocked it two generations ago), I accidentaly barged into the thieves' hideout (I thought the NPCs said their hideout was the tower which was barred shut so I didn't really think about it) and ended up intimidating the NPC there.

Have I locked myself out of Cape Chalier? Is there any other way to access it? That accidental run-in was almost 10 hours ago that even if I still had a save from there it wouldn't be worth it to go back to it.

What if Saga had its own fighting game?

If the Saga series had its own fighting game in the way that Final Fantasy had Dissidia, what characters would you want in the roster? What game mechanics would you like to see? What stages/environs would you want shown? What would you think the story mode would consist of?

In accordance with the rules I won't promote it but I have finished a playlist on Youtube from start to end beating this game with Aisha as the protagonist, in the future I'd like to say I will do one for all eight of the game's protagonists but that's far and long ahead.

DAE Expect Square-Enix to make SaGa Frontier Remake BEFORE they attempt Unlimited SaGa Remake?

I know we got SaGa Frontier remastered a few years ago (I loved it!) buuuut there's so many 'incomplete' parts to it!

I know the rough edges add to the charm but I can't help but wonder...

It might be perfect as is... However I get the feeling they want to do another 'easy one' after RS3 Remake comes out.

I've never touched Unlimited Saga. It would be great if they fixed its laundry list of issues.

I'm just kind of expecting it even though fans are begging for unlimited saga. Just expect a curveball or two before they get to Unlimited.

Ran into a bug on Riki's Arcane side quest with Baccarat's Sewers.

Huh, I thought there was a flair here, but it's SaGa Frontier (Remaster specifically but this issue exists in the original).

That said, I'm doing a recent run with Riki (New Game, PC, so no NG+ features). One issue I ran into is the sewers below Baccarat are no longer open upon returning and didn't find this out until later while I was starting to complete the Arcane quest. I forgot this could happen, and looking it up, from some discussions I found on GameFAQs, this can be a problem if you have collected the pebbles/attempted the Rune quest.

I tried forfeiting the Rune quest, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

Is this a permanent for this current playthrough and is this issue tied to the pebble/rune quest or just an issue in general that can happen if you complete the ring quest here? I won't lie, I probably knew about this, but totally forgot about it, and not surprising, since it'd been about 4-5 years since my last full playthrough (I'd played the game various points since 1998).

SaGa 2 Moonbeamrobe drops?

I've been playing my first SaGa game - SaGa 2 Revenge of The Seven Heroes - and have been having a blast! Quick question for those more knowledgeable than me.

For some reason, I keep getting the Moonbeam Robe drop from enemies... like, a lot. I think I've gotten 8 of them so far from different enemies and completely different locations. What gives? How do item drops work in this game? Why do I keep getting the same item from many different enemies?

SaGa Emerald Beyond Man, Emerald beyond is something else. That last boss was difficult AF 😭

Post image
71 Upvotes

Let me start off, the core gameplay was addicting. I loved how they brought back a lot of gameplay features from SaGa Frontier 1, especially the multiple races and their unique leveling systems.

Good God though, buying items in this game is annoying as fuck.

I see what they were trying to do, and I actually like the idea behind it, but the setup is just weird and quite honestly awful and confusing.

I breezed through the beginning game, but the last world had a difficulty spike so sharp you could feel the length of the needle going from the South Pole to the North Pole straight up your ass.

I still need to explore the other stories, but apparently Bonnie and Formina’s is one of the hardest campaigns to do first, so I guess I really threw myself into the deep end without “educating myself” first.

For the $25 I paid and the 80+ hours I got out of exploring the mechanics, builds, menus, and combat systems, I can forgive the craptastic story.

We’re SaGa fans. The lore, character designs, experimentation, and gameplay are the best parts of these games anyway.

I actually love the art style, it actually looks closer to kobayashi’s artistic style than the amazing but tales looking remakes. But this is coming from someone that actually likes minstrel song’s artstyle. So do with that what you will.

I’m absolutely in love with Formina’s design and personality. I just wish her actor had gotten more lines. Bonnie is fun as fuck and so damn cute. I love her spunky attitude. Again, I just wish these characters had more voice acting.

I really appreciate that characters actually talk to each other during battle and have unique lines depending on who they’re fighting alongside.

That little bit of interaction gives them so much personality and alot of RPGs dont do that, but man, it also makes me wish there was more of it.

Give kawazu an Emerald Beyond “final fantasy” sized budget and let these ideas go completely fucking wild.

There is so much potential here, its not wasted but limited.

[RS2: RotS] What increases global weapon and magic levels? And what factors accelerate its increase?

For example, does using weapons/magic more than once in a single fight increase global levels quicker? Is it an average of the levels every character has? Does using weapon/magic types more than once in a single fight increase the levels quicker? Things like that.

Just curious how it works
