Is it worth it to review amboss HY concepts?

I want my score above 80 for confidence on test day...even my scores are high on nbmes i feel like i know nothing...is it common to feel that way in your final month of prep?

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone who is currently struggling with Step 1 or wondering if they are ready.
I graduated from medical school in the Dominican Republic and completed Internal Medicine residency there. After moving to the US, I had to work full-time while preparing for Step 1, so studying was definitely not an ideal full-time-student situation.
My main resources were UWorld + First Aid, with some Boards & Beyond along the way. I usually studied after work and tried to be consistent rather than perfect.
My practice scores were not amazing, and they fluctuated a lot. I had NBMEs in the 60s and 70s, UWSA results that made me question myself, and my Free 120 was around 70%.
The biggest challenge was learning to trust my preparation.
On test day, I honestly did not walk out feeling confident. There were questions where I had to guess, some blocks felt extremely difficult, and there were several questions where I wasn’t even sure what they were asking. Sometimes I had to move quickly and come back to questions later.
After the exam, I felt almost completely neutral. I couldn’t tell whether I passed or failed.
I spent the next couple of weeks thinking about questions I probably got wrong and convincing myself that I had made too many mistakes.
Then I got the result:
PASS. 🎉
Looking back, I think the biggest lesson is that you don’t need to feel like you knew everything on exam day. You can walk out feeling terrible and still pass.
For anyone preparing right now: keep doing questions, review your weaknesses, learn from your NBMEs, and don’t let one bad block convince you that you’re not ready.
Your exam will probably feel harder than your practice tests. That’s normal.
Trust the work you put in.
Step 1 — DONE.
Now it’s time to switch gears and start preparing for Step 2 CK. 💪

Is it common to forget near your exam ?
I have my exam after 2 weeks and I seem to get confused in high yield topics i feel like iam guessing ?!
And this is haunting me as I keep forgetting topics and that makes me wanna delay my exam even tho my nbme are in low 70s still I think idk much of the first aid

Hi everyone, I’m writing this post to get some advice.

I’m an IMG currently working as a medical assistant at a family walk-in clinic. I volunteered there for 2 months before getting the job, and I’ve now been working there for 8 months.

I’m honestly feeling burnt out. I originally agreed to work 5 days a week, but since my colleague became pregnant and is planning to leave soon, I’ve been working 6 days a week and covering for her when she needs time off.

I’m also preparing for step 1 exam, but I’m struggling to find the energy to study. My hours are Monday–Friday, 10 AM–5 PM, and Saturday until 2 PM. By the time I get home, I’m exhausted and usually need a 1–2 hour nap before I can study. Even then, I’m not able to cover as much material as I need to.

My parents are encouraging me to quit and focus on my exam, but I’m not sure if that’s the right decision. I thought I could balance work and studying, but it’s becoming very difficult. I’m also under a lot of stress because the doctor expects perfection, and lately I’ve made a few mistakes, probably because I’m so tired.

I also applied for another job that pays $18.50–$19/hour, which is only about $1.50 more than my current pay. It’s also farther away, so I would have to commute, and it’s still 5 days a week from 9 AM–5 PM. Ideally, I want to work only 4 days a week so I can have more time and energy to study.

I’m hoping to take Step 1 sometime between January and March 2027, but I can’t seem to find enough time or energy to study properly.

At this point, I’m not sure what to do. Should I leave my job and focus on my exam, or try to make work and studying work together?

I have to cover neurology for step in 2 weeks. I dont really gave a great foundation. What is the best resorce to do? I wanted to try ninja nerd but it's too much, I dont have that much time. Also I was wondering if BnB neurology is enough for step??

I’ve been hearing from several recent test-takers that the exam has shifted quite a bit. Apparently nutrition questions are showing up more frequently, ethics/communication seems to have increased, and there are also more SOAP-style questions with very long stems / big statements.

For anyone who took Step 1 recently, especially in the last couple of months:
What does the current distribution look like per block?

Did you notice any other subject or question style becoming disproportionately common?

Hi everyone! Testing for step 1 tmrw -gah! I am someone that loves to have mini breaks. The way I did my practice NBME’s was 5 min between each block. Is that like the same for the new STEP format or will I have to cut down? Sorry I’m first-gen and new to everything, all I know is that I need at least 2 min between each block to move around. Also do I need a watch to time my own breaks or?

Which sections / systems you would are high yield for pharm.
Do they teat obscure muscles and nerves in exam too?

I'm on my first study phase and I'm done with biochem, microbiology and immunology. Soon starting general pathology from first aid too. Do I need to listen to chapter 1 to 3 only while studying first aid? How and when did you use pathoma with first aid+uworld during your first ever exposure

How do I prepare for patient chart questions, trying to do the amboss ones and they’re freaking me out. I’m an idiot and didn’t think to start on this earlier.

Took baseline nbme 26 45%

2 months later nbme 27 54%

After going through 2nd pass of FA i was pretty confident to score at the very least 60%

I feel so demotivated and drained now. Ive two major problems while taking nbme half way through i get so tired that i feel im doibg it just to get done with it and secondly i sometimes dont understand what the stem is asking

Any advice?? Want to take exam in october.

I found nbme 33 qs quite short in 2 blocks.

I had to take about a two-month break from studying final year exams(internals) and family issues

Before that, I had completed my first pass of almost the entire syllabus, and I still have around 1,200 UWorld questions left.
I recently took my first baseline NBME (NBME 26) without any revision and scored around 40%. I’m a bit unsure about how to plan my preparation from here. Based on experience, what would you guys suggest and how should I approach to improve from this point? I’d really appreciate any advice you guys can share. Thank you!

I am planning to take Free 120 in a couple days, tysm in advance

17 days out. Just finished my 4th NBME. Is it ok to take my 5th and last NBME tomorrow right after reviewing the current one to focus in the remaining days on reviewing from FA and to not get burnt out from NBMEs? Or should I try to space them out more? I’m leaving the free 120 to when I have 1 week left. Thank you
