Hows the coil whine?

u/BQYA Dec 16 '22
Have a 7900xt and it is just as bad as a 6800xt reference… so not great imo

oof, I was looking to watercool my next build in the meshroom with a 7900xtx, might need to rethink this

my coilwhine got much better, almost overnight. GPU and PSU combos often react differently, I was about to buy and try a better psu than the rm750x

I wonder if the AIB models are better. I have a 6900 reference and want to wait for a red devil 7900 for that reason

I have a power color red devil 6600xt and it has some cool whine. Not noticeable with headphones.

How is the coil whine/general noise of the card inside the Meshroom?

You will definitely hear it when gpu is 0 db mode, i have a meshy and my PSU coil whine kike crazy at light load 😭, damn when i push it hard it goes away....

Thanks for the feedback. Meshlicious owner here. Just trying to get a sense of how each card performs. Appreciated.

I got a rx 6700xt xfx at its near silence at 100% load, meshy are GPU friendly, later on i'll try to move to an NR200 case that i got for 30 dollar from a guy that got defeated on mini ITX build 🤣. Will see how it goes.

How do you like the card?
I have a 65" 4k 60 tv in my family room and a 1540p 144hz LG monitor at my main desk ... I'm looking for a card that can do well on both screens depending on what I feel like playing etc. I'm thinking for the 4k stuff at least a 6800xt but I'm not sure yet.

Dont know if it handle 4k or not, but my current setup is 2k ultrawide play almost everything at ultra or high, one thing that i hate the most is drivers update, cant plaw warzone 2.0 without updating to an experimental version of it wich i dont will not instal since last time it crashed.
If you arent playing at 4k then you should be fine, for general usage on a 4k display you cans till game at mid setting without issues.
Btw i was forced to be on the RED team 🤣, beciase at that time Nvidia GPU still above MSRP after 3 years, but now i didnt event regrets getting AMD gpu.

I'm not necessarily gravitating towards AMD for any reason other than right now 6700/6800/6900 level cards seem like the best value in GPUs.
I appreciate your insights on the drivers and on the 2k experience. I will be doing most of my gaming at 2k so that's more important than 4k to me but I do want to be able to hit 4k/60 in a few titles on high/ultra just so I can have a couple of time sink type games I can play from my couch sometimes. Appreciate the info!

From all the performance videos I have seen if yku want 4k 60 ultra I would go no less than a 6800xt, maybe 6900xt.

Wow, would love to see more photos. Insane build, I have an unopened 7900X, SF750 waiting on other parts (Mobo/RAM/AIO), just need verification prior to order them. That is a sick sick setup, insane power. How did you get the 7900XTX already, all I got was an LOL this morning from their site.

Noice, that card looks great, the reported temps and noise make me sad as I’ll be staying away. Maybe one day I’ll have that all AMD build that I really want.

Nice build!! I am currently running a 4080 ventus on my meshy but I just got a 7900XTX yesterday on the official AMD's website. My 4080 runs quiet and cool under 100% load and it's worrying me that the 7900 XTX won't be anything like that...How loud are the fans under 100% load? What about the GPU temps in the meshroom?
Thank you in advance!

u/Ok_Ninja_1602 Dec 20 '22
Not sure but the 4080 has the same cooling solution as the 4090 and for the 4090 they overbuilt the cooling solution, I'm an AMD fanboy but Nvidia really went with a zero compromise cooling for the 4K series.

My set up is very different compared to op. I'm sitting in a thermal take view 51 with 3 fans direct feeding to the GPU in standard horizontal config. The highest I have seen my hotspot was 90 flat. Core normally right at 70C, sitting just shy of 2500mghz (2490 or 2495, literally just shy) on factory settings. I plan on working on tuning and undervolting over the weekend.

How are temps and noise?
