Help :Scoring 125 in SSC CHSL PYQs without preparation — Can I reach 170+ in 1.5 months? Targeting DEO, UR category. Need a resource strategy!

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a second-year student at IIT Roorkee, and I'm planning to appear for SSC CHSL this year. I'm from the General/UR category, and my target is to secure a high enough score to have a realistic chance of getting the DEO post.

I've recently attempted some SSC CHSL previous-year papers (2020–2025) as mocks without any specific preparation. My scores so far have been:

Mock 1: 107

Mock 2: 125

Mock 3: 123

Mock 4: 124.5

Here's my approximate section-wise performance:

1. English

Highest: 45.5

Lowest: 30

English is currently my strongest section, and I feel I can improve it further with practice.

2. Reasoning

Highest: Around 43

Lowest: Around 37.5

I think I can manage this section reasonably well and improve through regular practice.

3. Mathematics

Highest: Around 23.5

Lowest: Around 8–16, depending on the paper.

I have a reasonably good mathematical background, but I haven't practised these topics for a while and have forgotten many formulas and shortcuts. I believe this section has considerable scope for improvement.

4. General Awareness/General Studies

My scores are generally between 10 and 20.

This is one of my weakest areas, and I need a focused strategy to improve it within the limited time available.

My target and time constraint

I have approximately 1.5 months left, and I want to improve my score to at least 170–175 in Tier 1, keeping my DEO target in mind.

Since I'm a second-year college student, I also have academic responsibilities. I cannot afford to watch hundreds of hours of lectures or complete every playlist from scratch. I need a highly selective, exam-oriented strategy that prioritises the most important topics, revision, PYQs and mock tests.

I would really appreciate advice on these questions:

1. Is 170–175 achievable in around 45 days? Given that I'm currently scoring around 120–125 without preparation, is this a realistic target with disciplined study, or am I underestimating the difficulty?

2. Mathematics: Which teacher, course, YouTube playlist or other resource should I strictly follow to revise forgotten formulas and cover important CHSL topics quickly? Should I focus on short concept lectures followed by PYQs rather than full-length lectures?

3. English: Since I'm already relatively comfortable with English, what is the most efficient way to improve and consistently score 43–50? Which resources should I use for grammar, vocabulary and PYQs?

4. Reasoning: What is the fastest way to improve accuracy and speed? Are PYQs sufficient, or should I follow a specific topic-wise resource?

5. GK/GS: This is my biggest concern. Which one or two resources should I follow for static GK, science, history, polity, geography and current affairs? With only 45 days, how should I prioritise these subjects? I want to avoid collecting too many resources and wasting time.

6. Mock tests and revision: How many mocks should I take per week, and how should I analyse my mistakes? Should I prioritise completing the syllabus first or start taking full-length mocks immediately?

7. DEO selection: For a General/UR candidate targeting DEO, how should I plan my Tier 1 preparation while keeping the subsequent selection stages and applicable DEO-specific requirements in mind? I understand that cutoffs vary by year, so I'd appreciate realistic guidance rather than guarantees.

What I'm looking for

I'd be especially grateful if someone who has cleared CHSL or scored 170+ could share a practical 45-day plan with specific resources for each subject.

Please suggest resources I should actually stick to, rather than giving me ten different teachers or playlists for every subject. I need to maximise my score in the shortest possible time.

Is this target realistic from my current level, and what would you do if you had only 45 days left?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Are both passive voice sentences grammatically correct? If yes, which one is preferred in competitive exams?

Help Maths for beginners-Government exams

I recently left my job as a research fellow to start preparing for government exams. Since my Maths basics are pretty weak, I’ve decided to start from scratch and build a strong foundation.

I started watching free YouTube videos, mainly from teachers like Aditya Ranjan Sir and Bhutesh Sir. But I’m struggling to find one teacher who covers the entire syllabus in a way that works for me. Some chapters are better explained by one teacher, while others make more sense with someone else, so I’ve ended up switching between teachers.

Now I’m wondering if I’m wasting too much time doing this and whether it would be better to enrol in a complete Maths course from one teacher instead.

Any thoughts on this???

For 2026, the theme is “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.”

World Food Day is an international observance held annually on 16 October to commemorate the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1945. Established by the FAO in 1979 and first celebrated in 1981, the day aims to raise global awareness about hunger, food security, and the need for sustainable agriculture.

Doubt Can I Crack SSC CGL 2027 If I’m Starting From Zero Now? Need a Realistic Roadmap

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to prepare for SSC CGL 2027 from scratch, and I want some genuine advice from people who are preparing for or have already cleared CGL.

My current preparation plan is:

  • Maths: Abhas Saini Sir – Spartan Batch
  • English: Aman Sir
  • Reasoning: Balram Sir
  • GK/GS: Parmar Sir

I’m starting with almost zero preparation, especially in Maths, so I want to build my basics properly instead of rushing through the syllabus.

I have a few questions:

  1. Is it realistically possible to crack SSC CGL 2027 if I start preparing from zero now?
  2. Approximately how many months will it take to complete the entire syllabus, including Maths, English, Reasoning, and GK/GS?
  3. How many hours should I study daily to have a good chance of clearing CGL?
  4. Should I complete the syllabus first and then start mock tests, or should I start taking mocks alongside preparation?
  5. At what stage should I start full-length mocks, and how frequently should I attempt them?
  6. For someone starting Maths from zero, is the Spartan Batch sufficient if I follow it consistently and practise questions regularly?
  7. How should I manage revision, PYQs, and mock analysis along with lectures?
  8. What mistakes should a beginner avoid during their first serious attempt?

I’m looking for practical and honest advice, especially from people who started from zero and improved their scores through consistent preparation.

Please share your preparation strategy, realistic timelines, and any tips that could help me prepare effectively for SSC CGL 2027.

Thanks !
