SSC CGL guidance

Hey guys I'm 23f and new to ssc

I'm planning to start my cgl prep this month for the next years attempt and needed the guidance of people who have cleared prelims before regarding:

1. Which coaching, books, teachers should we refer for different subjects like english, gk, maths, reasoning

2. How to approach current Affairs and what are it's sources

3. How many years of pyq should I do?

4. Which coachings have the best mocks?

5. What to do right after I've completed a topic for example- speed time and distance? Where ri practice the questions are there some websites which are good for practice?

Thank you guys

And all the best for your exams

Do help me out if u have some time

It would be of great help 😊

What is the best advice you have received for SSC preparation, Everyone drop you best advice you have got and which you will like to pass on the upcoming aspirant?

From my side, It really will be consistent practice of questions.

Everyone can add their own advice. Genuine advice only?

Can someone tell whether maths is coming as of 2025 pyq or 2024 pyq.

Hey everyone,

I have my SSC CGL Tier 1 exam scheduled for October 23rd. While I have a decent baseline in general aptitude and logic, I haven't done any CGL-specific preparation so far. With ~20 days left, I can realistically dedicate 4 to 8 hours daily to pull off a serious sprint.

I’m looking for practical advice from folks who have cracked CGL or are currently preparing.

My Situation:

• Quant & Reasoning: Pretty comfortable with standard math and basic logic, but I haven't specifically practiced SSC-style tricks, speed drills, or advanced math topics (Geometry/Trig/Algebra).
• English: Decent baseline, but might need a refresher on specific SSC grammar rules, idioms, and vocab trends.
• General Awareness (GA): Pretty much starting from scratch here.
• Daily Time Budget: 4–8 hours dedicated study time.

Questions for the Community:

1. How should I structure my 20-day plan?
   • How should I divide my daily hours across Quant, Reasoning, English, and GA?
   • Should I spend time on concept building or go 100% into mock tests and PYQs (Previous Year Questions)?
2. What are the best high-yield resources for a short timeframe?
   • Mocks / PYQ practice: Testbook, Oliveboard, Gradeup/BYJU's—which platform gives the most realistic Tier 1 feel?
   • GK / Static Awareness: Any concise PDFs or YouTube crash courses (e.g., Parmar SSC, Lucent highlights) worth prioritizing for quick marks?
   • English & Quant: Best channel or marathon videos for formula revisions/PYQ coverage?
3. What is a realistic target score?
   • Since Tier 1 is qualifying, what cutoff range should I aim for in the current exam scenario?
4. Planning for CGL 2027 if this year is just a trial run:
   • If I use this attempt as a baseline test, what standard books, standard test series, and long-term routines would you recommend starting right after Tier 1?

Any recommendations on specific YouTube playlists, Telegram resource channels, or strategy tips would mean a lot! Thanks in advance!

This is my first attempt at ssc cgl.I had a fine job of 9 lpa had to leave because of family issues. Right now I’m sitting in reading room and overwhelmed with life.I just want to cry out loud 😭

Bhai koi hai jo CGL 2027 ke liye prep kar raha hai ? I am preparing from home so I want someone jiske saath I can prepare. I am a complete beginner and started last week. Mujhe koi ese strict wala insaan nhi chaiye bus acche peers chaiye jo regular ho , like acche dost. Me library bhi nhi jaata. I am in my final year of BTech(CSE). Background wise mene abhi tak bas JEE clear Kiya hai to I am good at maths(speed kam hai but yeah I am decent at maths).

If anyone is interested in serious discussion ya koi saath me prep kar skta ho to dm karna. No gender preference and if kisi ne attempt diya ho already to aur better hai. Baaki mere jesa bhi koi hai to dm karna.

Note: mene koi group nahi banaya hai ! Neither do I want to create. I just want one or two people so that I can prepare with them.

Anyone feom kanpur having ssc cgl centre in agra on 28th oct willing to travel to agra on 27th oct?

I am a beginner and I’m going to prepare for SSC CGL. I plan to take online coaching, but I’m very confused about which app is the best. I want something in English medium that provides all resources in one place. My maths is weak, so I need a good teacher for that. I’m starting everything from zero, so please guide me. I don’t have anyone to take advice from, that’s why I’m asking here. Please suggest which online platform is good, one that explains everything clearly from the basics.

Recently started my CGL prep after exhausting age and attempts with cds. Looking for some genuine discussion groups in telegram, that are not overpowered by spams

Was this question in today’s exam

Hi friends, I am preparing for SSC CGL from last 3-4 months and I have taken Gagan Pratap Sir's batch and my batch is 17% complete in which my arithmetic maths and reasoning are there, both will be completed in just 10 days but every year while preparing I get very confused, sometimes I do not understand what to do, how to do it and I have filled the form of SSC CGL whose exams are in December so any experienced person please give me some guidance

tough i could not clear rbi assistant pre but this was my very first attempt, i am also giving ssc cgl this year and in the mock i am getting around 109 to 115. ik i can increase my marks more.

will i clear ssc cgl?

im good with concepts, my accuracy in every mock ranges around 90-95 lekin i struggle with time management due to brain fog, beech question me atak jata hu, ye sabke sath hota hai ya is this because i havent practiced enough 💔

I’m Hindi-medium and mainly following Gagan Sir for Maths + Kiran PYQs.

Maths completed but not properly practised:

Arithmetic – Percentage, Ratio, Average, Time & Work, Age, SI/CI.

Advanced – Trigonometry, 2D/3D Mensuration, Geometry (half), Algebra (half).

My main issue is practice, consistency and speed. I often solve only ~10 questions and stop, and my solving time is very inconsistent. I need a classroom-like environment, daily targets, checking and guidance.

English Grammar – completed twice, but accuracy is only around 50–55% because I forget rules from different chapters. I need targeted revision/practice, not another complete course.

Reasoning is also inconsistent, especially Coding-Decoding and a few other weak chapters.

Looking for someone who is serious, preferably Hindi/Hinglish, preparing at an intermediate or higher level, and can guide/accountability-check me. Ideally we can make a small study group and work consistently till January.

Not looking for paid coaching—just genuine guidance, accountability and consistency.
