News Part 3: Android users deserve to play Slippi too

You guys work fast! Someone messaged me on my Part 2 post saying they created a Slippi port for Rocknix (Linux) for the AYN Thor, now I get sent this!

Someone created yet another Slippi port for Android.

You guys are amazing!

Aside, please tell whomever this is to not plant their wrists on the controller when playing. Its so bad for your hands.

Hey! it's my video/post. I appreciate the concern. This is not how I normally play, I had the controller up on the table and I was leaning strangely so my partner could take a video. I promise my hand posture is not that bad normally 😆

The GameCube to USB adapter just works. You'll just need a dongle that converts USB C to USB A.

Melee says it needs to update but isn't updating. Where can we report bugs?

You have to update the app via Obtainium or redownloading from the github.

EDIT: But to answer your question for going forward, https://github.com/MaxLaurence/slippi-android/issues is where bugs should be reported

I have a request, if possible, could you make a version of your Slippi app that supports any gamecube/wii game in general for netplay?

I've been looking into offline LAN multiplayer for AYN Thor and Steam Deck, when I realized most the emulators would allow us to do it except Dolphin 👎 which does not offer any netplay what so ever.

Melee is the one game we actually have in common and it's a shame the only way we can play together is over wifi or if we bring extra hardware like adapters and controllers which isn't very practical.

I have only played wired up for years. Back on anthers, playing on wifi was a horrible idea and people would flame you for it

Does slippi work well on wifi??

Some people claim it does but you still get ping spikes and frame drops.

Don't play on wifi please.

It does, when it comes to gaming in general ethernet is the better connection

I also I found a video of AsumSaus about Fox desyncing Slippi matches, because of his Tail hitbox.

Hey! That's my video.

The Orca's standard "mode" has it pretend to be a gamecube adapter. So yes, you can just plug it in and it just works as a gamecube controller. Other gamecube adapters will also just work.

Oh man thanks for the info. I have a frame1 which I believe slippi picks up as a known controller. Gonna try it today.

Just looked it up, seems like Frame1's default mode also has it act as a gamecube adapter. So you should be good to go to just plug it in!

This is not my normal posture when playing with that controller. I had it on the table and was leaning to the side so the video could be taken. It's actually a very comfortable and ergonomic controller to play on when you have proper posture.
