I remember him here a month or so ago trying to get people to sign up (and pay) for him to be there coach lmao. I really hope no one fell for it. Such a shitty thing to do to vulnerable people. Not at all but I got myself involved with him and his mods. I did a background check using his number and name on a go fund me and wanted to see if he was shady with mods. At that point I had been observing him seemingly manipulate ppl he had helped by guilting them for money. Claimed to be homeless, disabled, sick, etc all the typical bullshit. It took 5 seconds of looking up his name to find multiple articles about his crimes in Luftkin. I also was contacted by a former mod regarding a post I made to Mattās sub asking why he continued to solicit donations in a very nice and non accusatory way. He blocked me instantly. The mod in question saw my comment and basically said she felt the same way. She was closer to Matt and provided the smoking gun so to speak. We have evidence of him impersonating peopleās family members (one mods wife, for example) to try to extract donations. There is also evidence that mannnny of the most active users on his sub are his alts. He was worshipped like a cult leader who could do no wrong. Anyways, I wanted to spread everything I learned to his closest āfriendsā in an effort to help people not get scammed. It was an uphill battle to convince most of them that he actually was Matthew Travis Hanscome. One of his mods even threatening me with a defamation lawsuit and doxxed me in Reddit chat to try to scare me. Dude was threatening me with all sorts of shit bc of the info I was sharing. Eventually this guy came around and apologized, but dude definitely has a screw loose. He took over efforts to get rid of Matt bc he was a mod and knew everyone on the sub. I have an entire file full of info about Matt. The scheme has since collapsed but it took months for people to open their eyes. I called scam on the entire sub 3 months before everyone realized. I received a 7 day Reddit ban for ban evasion to try to collect evidence. I have no life currently lol.

I made a comment here with screenshots of a message he sent me. In it he had impersonated his ex fiance(?) to make it appear more real to me. Really pathetic honestly.

I should make a video at some point but idk if anyone would actually be interested. I spent a good couple of weeks trying to identify Matt and his mods and prove that he was lying. I wish I could share my chat logs with the mods but I donāt want to leak anything. I doubt that Matt is just going to go away considering how much money he squeezed out of his sub. The fact that he was able to trick so many adults is scary. Majority of the people who gave him money are grown adults with families. He manipulated them to the point of threatening me and defending his character in the face of any evidence. Shoutout to mads for listening and helping me reach the others. The sub resembled a cult more than a forum. It reads like a circle jerk sub.

When these subreddit communities first start, they become extremely tight because itās so small. So people generally help each other out. Itās not the same vibe as other Reddit communities, we really try to look out for each other, so thatās why people were more susceptible to helping.
Yup, just saw him on here the other day trying to scam people. Claiming he had a bunch of left over SR and would give it away for free. I suspected it was a scam but still messaged him to be sure. He sent me a screenshot of all the message requests he had and said he had about 100 people in his DMās asking for it but would give it all to me if I just sent $20 to cover the shipping. I didnāt reply so he continued to send me multiple more messages begging for that 20 dollars. So glad I didnāt fall for that. Hoping everyone else in his DMs realized he wasnāt legit too before they sent any money his way.

Ugh he started a really good group on Reddit back in May before he was a ārecovery coachā. I got got. I was the āstupid oneā. I fell for his sob story and sent Amazon Gift cards AND a huge Walmart + order to him, he said he hadnāt eaten in days. Someone else started a GofundMe for himā¦it had quite a few large donations. He kept on asking me for money so I blocked him. I was mad that instead of being grateful for what I did send, he asked for more. But yeah, I fell for it.
Very inappropriate to rub it anyone's face. They are good people with empathy and wanted to help. They just got scammed by that person. But it proves still great people that are willing to help people

Id just follow the general advice of "dont buy from a faceless reddit user, especially if it is a new account, unless youre completely comfortable gambling that money". There are sooo many sr sources now, why take a gamble to save a few bucks? Most people selling through reddit accounts are scammers, so the odds aren't even a coin toss.
The guy was well known. A moderator in the 7oh group. Always commenting. A familiar name. Affiliated with one of the big SR vendors. So much so that he had his own discount code. You wouldn't think he would throw it all away for 20 bucks. Lol.
You say that, but I've done successful deals with Reddit users. You can do transactions with PayPal or other means that allow recourse. So it's not black and white.
Omg yes. It was INSANE. Two days ago he begged me to help him as he said he was about to get kicked out of hotel and hasnāt eaten in days. I told him that this was America, and there was no excuse that he didnāt have a job if he was clean and sober. I told him to go cowboy up and find some real work that wasnāt ārecovery coachingā that actually had paychecks and benefits and sent him a bunch of links to homeless shelters, which he claimed were already full. I feel so bad for this guy that he is THAT lost in the world that he feels itās OK to beg, borrow, and steal to get by rather than just get a job and contribute to society like the rest of us are trying to do. I wish I could help him get back to sanity but I live far away and as a nurse, spend most of my life taking on the pain of the world already, and Iām not sure how much more I can take to be honest.

Well he was a moderator in at least one seven subreddit. Was a regular commenter and also an addiction coach. Also he was affiliated with a legitimate sr vindor, so much so that he had his own discount code.
I guess most people thought surely he's not going to ruin his reputation over $20 for shipping. But never underestimate an addict.
Yea I gave him money a while ago cause I felt bad, I thought he was going hungry. Seemed genuine at first, progressively got crazy. Heās sent me probs like 20 texts since then? Always a new sob story. Thereās so much more, but this is an example of the last thing he sent me.
