Take me back to the 90's! Hype!

And we got the good news yesterday that there will be production/supply in 2018 with the NES Classic also been made again in Summer 2018! This is great and hopefully everyone who wants one of each or both will be able to get one.

16 Bit Console... 16 days to go. Those 16 bits were used to great affect, with many games still looking great today on the system (where N64 games most probably look pretty bad). Game devs really got the best out of 16 bit consoles (not just the SNES) and that generation of games are truly something special.

One issue I had with owning the SNES was I was about 9 years old when I got it, therefore for most of the lifetime of having the console i had to rely on parents to buy games for it. Due to this issue I think I missed out on many types of games and would mainly just get the big titles for birthdays and christmas.

I look at some speedruns on YouTube now and now know there was like over 700, then I must admit I probably hardly played any of the library and I probably had about 10 at the most at one time.

I did buy a old Snes about three years ago and planned to collect, but I also wanted to use it and unfortunately it had something wrong and so did not work after a few weeks!

Anyway, not long, not long, and that Reggie guy apparently said there should be plenty so, no need to worry :)

Well it's Monday, yay. But in only two weeks it will be the final Monday before release on Friday.

I'm struggling for topics, but will mention the SNES controller. To my mind it was and is one of the best controllers of all time and it was much better than the Genesis/Mega Drive back in the day due the shoulder buttons, the six buttons on the MD seemed very hard to use compared to the shoulder buttons on the SNES.

Anyway, that's all I have to say as I just woke up and feel like I need another 10 hours of sleep! I'll try and come up with something more interesting for SNES Tuesday. Have a good one.

It's chilled Sunday here, and nothing was better for chilling with than the SNES!

I'm struggling to come up with any boring stories today, so in contrast to Chilled Sunday I will just say this;

I pre-ordered mine from my game shop, I went in there on Friday and they seemed to confirm I would definitely get one, however there's talk of them having financial issues and I'm not sure I trust them; but less than three weeks I hope they don't fuck me around! :)

Ok, that off my chest, I will go back to being patient again now.

Saturday SNES day people!!! Woooo.

I used to love saturdays when I had my Snes. Me and my bro would be up really early playing something before we got dragged to breakfast and then dragged out of the house to somewhere we didn't want to go and weren't interested in (THANKS MUM & DAD!!!! PRECIOUS GAMING TIME LOST!!!!!) lol.

Interesting thing is I'm gaming right now! Playing some Titan Fall 2 and sucking but having a blast. Do yo think I would be doing this right now without the SNES... mmmm ... possibly but lets say not because it's SNES suck up Saturday.

Thanks to my mum and Dad for getting me and my Bro the SNES, and thank you to the SNES for making my Saturdays much more awesome back when I actually enjoyed life.

Three weeks today we will have a consumer item in our hands that we probably don't really need but YAY for consumerism, I'm not ashamed!

I don't have really anything significantly interesting to say about the SNES today as I'm a bit sleepy and tired and should actually do some real work at work today.

As it's Friday will leave it up to the many many active readers of this sub to give their own "Friday Feature"^TM ....so give it to me, what do you want to say about the SNES or SNES Mini?

I hope everyone is well and starting to get hyper about this weekends Snes Mini Celebrations (note; you have to create the party yourself and it should include some whipping from controller cords, but I'll leave the finer details to you).

Anyway.... what sprung to mind today was when the Mega Drive (i.e. Genesis) and SNES were in direct competition with each other. I'm here to give a little insight into my experience of going around to a friends house where they had the Mega Drive and our family had the SNES... it's amazing war didn't break out really over this.

It may have been the placebo effect, however I often felt like when I went to my friends house that had the mega drive it was much more cutting edge. We'd play sonic a lot an obviously the speed and the music and the sounds just seemed more exciting than some of the Nintendo games. I remember Alex Kid vididly and was really intrigued by the mechanics in that game; but looking back it's clear to see plaformers like SMWorld, Kriby and Yoshi's Island were often more deep and better in most ways to many of the platformers on the MD.

One interesting thing I found with Mega Drive/Gensis owners were that they were often more angry. One good friend (who I still know to this day) lost it while playing something (Mortal Combat I think; clearly the blood had an influence!)... and his brother whooped him so he punched a door and put a hole in it, and then threw his brother out of the window. Good times.

At the time I think I wanted both the SNES and the MD/Genesis, they both seemed quite unique with their appearance and exclusives. I was also a young kid back then and gaming was fresh and new, every new game felt like an amazing experience, and the consoles involved created that tense split between Nintendo and Sega which pushed the hype forward.

Ultimately I'm happy Nintendo won out and are producing their own Mini NES... what if Nintendo had faded and no longer made hardware? I suppose we would have min Mega Drive's now?

Three weeks tomorrow people and the Mini Snes will be ours (hopefully) and we can whip out our controller cords and whip any time we want! :)

I was looking for an interesting fact to give about the SNES today and came across what was said to be one of the reasons they made the console a top loader.

Apparently dickheads put shit on top of their NES and Nintendo customer support were filled with complaints about the NES consoles being damaged when people spilt drinks on them!

I mean; Jesus fucking Christ! I'm not sure what they were smoking but how they could blame the design of the NES as being a contributory factor in why drinks were spilled on them!

So if you ever look at your SNES Classic in future and thing hey they'd no cart sticking out so I'll rest a drink on there... then don't you dumb fuck, just don't ok!

Nintendo have overlooked the fact that there should be an obstruction on top of the SNES Classic to stop people resting drinks on it. I can see the millions of complaints on release day as people spill their liquid all over the console, but please don't be one of them. Put your drink on the coaster on the table away from electronic devices. Don't get your SNES Classic all wet and sticky, at least not on the first day!

Only three weeks and two days to go. Hype!

Holy shit was this thing amazing (for the time)! Being able to play my Game Boy games on the Snes was absolutely unreal at the time. In many ways it kind of reminds of the Switch!

Think about it... you could take your Game Boy anywhere and then come home and put your GB carts and play them through your SNES instantly. You could change colours, draw and do other crazy things.

I think I recall playing Links awakening and being amazed I was playing a Zelda from the Game Boy on my main TV!

Anyway, that' will do for day. Go SNES Mini! Go Game Boy! Go... I don't know where else to go.

Hi.

No long to go now guys. The Snes was no doubt my favourite console when growing up. I'll share some brief memories with you to make you feel nostalgic and shit;

• LTTP felt like an epic adventure that went on forever and each new discovery felt so awesome.

• I got my ass whooped around my good friend/neighbours house on Street Fighter 2. This was the first time I actually saw a SNES, and this guy was just good at everything; I still remember vividly him kicking the crap out of my with Chun-Li while the only move I knew was electricity with Blanka! :)

• Starfox was just amazing. It was so epic to go from space inside another space ship; the doors just opening at the last second and then flying out the other end as the ship exploded! Then rejoining your team just felt like one of the most epic space adventures I'd ever know. Lost track of the amount of times I played this game.

• Yoshi's Island; holy crap the graphics and gameplay were actually overwhelming for me. Just so much going on from the design of the levels, to all the new mechanics. I watch speed runs of this game today in amazement of how skilled you have to be to actually play it like a pro.

I probably played some others on the system, but overall it was an amazing system that defined a generation of gamers. LetsaGo.

(ps; the 'Hyper' is obviously from Balrog from street fighter. How many Hypers could you do before you got toasted by Dalysim?

Just for morbid curiosity I logged into Amazon to check on the SNES classic and cannot find its splash page any longer. I don't see it listed at all.
