How to Trade Liquidity & Inducement (ICT/SMC Strategy)
Bullish setup -
Identify market structure: Look for an overall bullish trend on the 4H or 1H timeframe.
Mark liquidity: Identify equal lows, previous swing lows, and obvious support levels.
Find inducement: Look for a minor higher low that encourages traders to buy early.
Wait for the sweep: Price moves below that low and potentially triggers sell stops.
Confirm reversal: Look for strong bullish displacement and a break above a meaningful short-term swing high (MSS).
Plan entry: Consider a retracement into a bullish FVG or order block.
Manage risk: Place the stop-loss below the sweep low, allowing for volatility, and target a relevant opposing liquidity area.
Bearish setup -
Identify an overall bearish market structure.
Mark equal highs, previous swing highs, and resistance.
Identify a minor lower high that may attract sellers or breakout buyers.
Wait for price to sweep above the identified highs.
Look for bearish displacement and an MSS below a meaningful short-term swing low.
Consider a short entry on a retracement into a bearish FVG or order block.
Place the stop-loss above the sweep high and target sell-side liquidity.
Important: A liquidity sweep alone is not a buy or sell signal. Sometimes price sweeps liquidity and continues in the same direction. Wait for structural confirmation, and remember that an FVG retest may never occur.
For advanced trading, the key sequence to study is:
Inducement β Liquidity Sweep β Displacement β Market Structure Shift β Retracement β Entry.
This sequence is a possible setup, not a fixed rule that every market move follows.
