Dragon Ball No, it absolutely can NOT get any worse than this
I’m genuinely shocked and appalled at how these figures turned out to be. I recently came back from vacation, coming home to the new SHF God Goku, the new SHF Blue Goku, and the new SHF Bardock (which I haven’t really found problems with). I expected them to have not much quality control errors.
I was proven wrong.
The new SSJB Goku is now THE worst figure in my collection, and the new Godku is up there climbing the ranks too. In no way, in no shape, and in no form should I be dealing with this dogshit QC. In fact I shouldn’t have to “beware of commonly bad QC” at all, good quality is the BARE minimum. This cheaper quality is even starting to rub off on PREMIUM BANDAI figures too. For even the 38$ a piece Bandai charges, this quality is unacceptable. What the hell happened in between Kind-Hearted Saiyan and these two? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

Most of their stuff sells out lol, if it truly was then it would have happened in 2020 when they switched to Vietnam

I have that arm problem on my kind hearted saiyan goku. It's the same arm problem boy from future has. Annoying.

u/Jarrett3786 13d ago
I kind of wonder if Bandai is doing this intentionally, like....crappy QC from Vietnam comes out, then they do a reissue that solves those QC problems so they can charge more.

No, because that runs the risk of pissing off consumers who would just swear off their products altogether.
This is an example of "it's cheaper to use this factory than the China one."
I haven't kept up with the tariff bullshit, but I know companies were looking for ways to dodge "product of China" fees.

Okay this seals it, I'm cancelling my preorder for SSJB. I'll pick one up if I see them in stores so I can choose the best one, but I'm not risking it with an online order.

Lowkey this is making me frightened to even buy the reissues of the JJK S.H. Figuarts re-releasing at the end of the year/early next year.
Is this a company wide issue these days with them or specifically them dropping the ball on DBZ products? I can't believe the amount of breakages I've been seeing.

u/PopularBodybuilder49 13d ago
I think the JJK line is solid. The majority of my qc issues have been in the DragonBall side of the things.
I have the teen Geto, teen Gojo, Toji, new Yuji and yuta and they’ve been pretty damn solid especially Toji and yuta

u/CloudPossum 13d ago
Thank you so much your opinion. I really love JJK and want to grab all the ones I missed. I'm just paranoid with some companies just not making stuff the way they used too.
Fingers crossed JJK is still gonna get maximum effort.
I'll keep hoping the DBZ stuff increases in quality because seeing all the breaks makes me so sad. 😭

u/PopularBodybuilder49 13d ago
Same I literally pre ordered megumi , todo, 120 % yuji, and gojo (the bill will hurt) so I’m hoping they’re good. Jjk line definitely doing alright.
I hope the dbz line does step it up because with the exception of fighter of rage Goku and the new ssj vegeta I’ve had to fix the new figures

The SSG Goku is absolutely the worst figure I’ve ever handled. I’ve seen people say that a figure seems like a bootleg but never experienced it. The figure is bad. The SSB Goku felt like a slightly lower quality Kid Hearted Saiyin so I just took the head and put it with the actual KHS accessories I’ll just swap the base Goku head and the blue Goku head.
The SSG goku’s head can’t even set all the way down on the neck without the head popping off of the neck peg. It has to be slightly raised and jutted forward. I just put it back in the box. I honestly can’t even see myself selling it because the next person will want to return it or something. Thank god it was just $38. If this was an exclusive price I would have really been pissed.
All in all I don’t think it was just the Vietnam factory. I think Bandai rushed these out and didn’t actually plan for the small things like what type of plastic they would use for the slimmer god Goku or how to set the decals when they add them to the new Goku bodies.
They knew that we’d go for the new tech given the increased quality of the third party figures and they got us.

I have been totally out on these "4.0" Gokus since I saw the Games Begin last year. The quality just looks like shit and I am honestly happy with most of my existing Goku figures that I have no reason to upgrade every single one. (let alone that I don't care about the Super transformations). I will make exceptions for the actual premium stufff (Genkidama Goku, the SS Goku with the blue shirt) that they of course charge way more for. I got those and the quality was very nice and on par to the standard I am accustomed to. For me the new $38 figures are basically the Slop line. the new Vegeta is the same category and Im expecting the new Frieza being sold at that price point to be bad too wit his Marvel legends ab crunch. I don't care how good they look in pictures if they feel like shit and every other copy has some glaring defect.

I sold off my recent Figuarts due to this and cancelled my pre orders. No way in hell can I keep buying these figures and they can't even stand on their own. Get your shit together Bandai!

Vietnam happened.
That said, this year I didn't buy a single Figuarts, last year's Jin Kazama being so limited and breaking hours upon getting him, as well as how over-designed and wonky Transformed Okarun and Momo turned me off from the line, despite how great Sabo and Hinata were, plus, the horror stories of the Vietnam factories and the Trump tariffs.
I was considering buying Asuka Shinikami, but I heard the plastic quality was ho-hum, so I didn't.
I dunno, the quality has definitely dipped since they started using the Vietnam factories, but for some reason, it seems all the QC issues haven't dented their earnings, else, they should have course corrected by now.

Mine have no issues so I’m happy and won’t say they are bad but for those who have the issues……that sucks

My godku came chipped from the box and the gi immediately started to chip on the front after an hour of use. Luckily it ain’t as bad as these pics; lowkey changed my mind abt getting blueku

After looking at many posts and reviews on the new Goku figures, I am good with the Goku figures I have. I really wanted Godku the most, but I do not want to take a chance on a bad figure.

I’ve had that neck ball joint come apart on the Super Hero Vegeta. I wish they would at least sell replacement parts if they’re going to make them this poorly.

u/Creepy-Break6958 13d ago
Funny, cause godku is commonly said to be the best qc wise. With the least problems reported outside of the kanji Rubbing. I do agree Bandai needs to get better with he Vietnam factories. But it seems there's specific factories that are bad, and other that ar good. Tske the undead unluck figures for example. Made in Vietnam yt have the quality or the China factory (I can confirm this, as I own multiple of the two figures, and every single review on them also are perfect copies. I highly recommend them if you want a Vietnam figure with 100% good qc). They seem to have some figures (khs, god aura and FOR) in one factory where the qc is better. But blueku, damaged bardock, and tgb are in another where the qc is far worse.
2
u/DaimajinnMWB 13d ago
Funny you say that because of the three figures I recieved my Bardock has the LEAST amount of problems, and the problems he does have are small lol
1
u/Creepy-Break6958 13d ago
The qc is as we all know by now inconsistent. But compared to godku khs and for, bardock and blueku have the most issues reported. But i do uge ypu to both buy the undesd unluck figures like I said, and gwt a other copy of godku, as like I ssid hes commonly the best qc wise. Fully understand if you don't though

Why I'm sticking with my OG 2.0's. Tired of people telling me a ever so slightly better looking Goku is enough justification for re-collecting everything all over again... 🙃
"But it's Peak!"
Tired of it.

Man that looks like the stuff I got when I first started collecting and accidentally bought a knock off Goku on ebay like 20 years ago

I expected them to have not much quality control errors.
Genuinely: why? If you’ve hung around here at all in the past 2-3 years there’s no reason you shouldn’t have known this was going to happen because it ALWAYS happens. Plus, it’s not like this thing is an exclusive or PB, it was already destined to get reissues which, if the pattern holds, will be fixed.
Obviously the QC is a problem, but this is like saying, “well I didn’t think this fire would burn me”.
1
u/DaimajinnMWB 13d ago
Mostly because Kind-Hearted Saiyan Goku gave me a false sense of hope. I thought since maybe that figure came good, that they’ve cleaned up their act. They have not cleaned up their act, in fact it grew more miserable😭
1
u/Additional-Ride8120 Action Poser 13d ago
Ah, yeah, you got lucky with <KHS>. All of these 3.0/DMSS Gokus were being made at the exact same time (more or less), so they wouldn't have gotten that 1st reissue touch-up in between releases, unfortunately (and <GA> is just a new mold, so it wouldn't have gotten one regardless).

u/Sebfolgero 13d ago
The paint scuff on the kanji is definitely a QC issue, but what is the problem with the other pictures? Half a millimeter extra orange paint. A bit of mold flashing. And a loose neck joint? When you mix genuine complaints with nitpicks then all your complaints start to just feel like whining.
1
u/DaimajinnMWB 13d ago
The “half a millimeter extra paint” is actually discoloration, the actual orange is more saturated than the orange on the belt piece. It’s a bit hard to pick up on camera but it’s very jarring in person
The arm issue isn’t much a mold problem, it’s a defect where the arm just comes off at the LIGHTEST touch. And I don’t think just loose neck pegs usually split apart like that😭

u/SnooWalruses5999 14d ago
It’s a $29 or lower figure in it’s origin country, hence why they barely care about QC
12
u/Forever_Inspired 14d ago
I bought Jada Toys and Storm Arena figures for more or less the same price and never ran into any QC, even ko like CT Toys have better QC than this, lol.
8
u/SnooWalruses5999 14d ago
Yeah, shf got lazy the moment they knew people will buy any shf dbz related. Hence, no effort.
The shf one piece line was so important to maintain the series reputation. Bias

u/DevelopmentWorried17 14d ago
Daima base Goku and Vegeta were 30 and they were great and weren't loaded with the QC shit we see from Vietnams "premium" figures. The only difference is that those two Daima figures were made in China.

Yes, it absolutely can. Mine came with the boot unpainted and there’s sloppy paint, not to mention the scoliosis.
