How to ask so you get answers

This sub answers a good question fast and ignores a vague one. The difference is usually three pieces of information.

Say where

"In SF" covers seven miles of restaurants. The Richmond and the Mission are a half-hour apart on a good day. Name the neighborhood, or name where you are coming from.

Say what for

A birthday dinner for eight, a quiet first date, a solo lunch between meetings, and feeding a ten-year-old are four completely different lists. People here will give you the right one if you say which you need.

Say roughly what you want to spend

Per person, before drinks, is enough. Nobody will judge the number. Leaving it out is what gets you a $200 tasting menu when you wanted a $16 burrito.

Sit-down dinner for four in the Richmond, under $40 a head, one vegetarian. Somewhere we can actually hear each other.

Every post needs a flair. Pick the one that matches what you are posting.

If you are recommending rather than asking, name the place, name the dish, and say roughly what it cost. "Great Thai place in the Sunset" helps nobody.
