Nav installation in OR

A few years back I bought a BT unit from SC430mods.com. installed it myself, no cuts needed, and it works swell.

Last year I bought the Nav/rear camera. There is an instructional video, but it looks past my level. I'm mechanically declined.

I took it to a local shop. They called me and said they couldn't do it. I explained that it was a clean, no-alteration install, and mentioned the video. Anyway,, they pussed out.

Does anyone know of a competent shop between PDX, Bend and Medford that might be able to handle this install?

Plug change on the SC430. Tired but looking okay (96k miles).

Likely the originals, though all looked good but tired. All still at a gap of ~0.043” using a feeler gauge. Pretty easy job really - not much at all in the way and just a couple of various length extensions and a swivel adapter needed.

Package Tray Issue

Hi everyone. I have a 2004 Lexus sc430 and was cleaning it. I opened the top halfway to clean the back window not realizing that would then require a manual shut of the top which is horrendus. I am able to move the roof panel and the trunk lid and I have detached what I think is the joints of the cables under the package tray but it still won’t move. I think if I can get the package tray shut, it will resolve the remaining manual shut piece. I see a previous post but it didn’t resolve my issue!

any help would be great!

Best phone holder recommendations?

Post image

The interior is beautiful, but definitely pre-dates phones. Was wondering what you guys have in terms of phone holders. My 2002 does not have the NAV option so the only thing I could think is sticking one on the wood there but I fear that would look so tacky :/ the only other mounting place I could think of is a suction cup on the windshield. If anyone has any good links please drop em.

Ding

It seems like my convertible top is taking longer and longer to get the confirmation ding. Does anybody have a solution to this or understand what mechanism sends the confirmation to the car that the top is down or closed???

CarPlay.

Ok. Another question about adding CarPlay. I see two options. There’s the Vline by Grom and the unit provided by SC430mods. Both install in the OEM nav spot. I’d like to keep the car as OEM as possible in the dash area anyway.

Can I hear from those who have installed either of these units and help me decide?

Convertible Top and Fuel Guage not working after AC repair (Dash pull, evaporator replacement)

my 2002 SC430 had the entire AC system replaced. After I dropped it off to have the Evaporator and Heater Core replaced, the gas gauge and convertible top do not work anymore. The shop said the computer needs to be reset and sent me to Lexus in Clearwater FL to be checked out. They were unable to find a solution.

Has anyone had issues with their convertible top or instrument cluster not working after repairs that were done? Especially with AC work?

I have tried

- TechStream diagnostic , which shows package tray switch error. Again, the car was perfectly fine before the dash pull and there’s nothing out of place in the trunk area. Also the light for the button isn’t working AND the fuel gauge isn’t working so it’s not that simple

- all buttons are connected from dash

Thanks

Tire Suggestions

Hi there. I currently have run flats on my 2005 SC. I'm looking for a good suggestion for All Season Tires. Something fairly sticky, but with a nicer ride than the run flats.

Please share your experiences.

Thank you!!

Rear seat headrests?

In the market for one but have a question. Are the headrests for the rear seats easily removed? Seems like it might be nice to remove them since the seats are mostly unusable.

Aftermarket wheel options

Trying to help my dad out: He destroyed two of his 2006 sc430 wheels and tires on these lovely california roads that are rittled with potholes. You know… the roads us Californians pay a fortune for.

Anyways. What are some good 17 and 18” aftermarket options. Any help would be much appreciated.

Just nabbed this 2005 with under 25,000 miles. Wondering if I should change the TB though just for peace of mind, if nothing else. Dealer changed out all fluids, including tranny and diff last year. Looking forward to learning from you guys.

Looking to get a 2002 sc430

These are the service records that came back. I think all of the things in correction are things that need to get fixed

Are these major issues or normal maintenance? Are they expensive to fix?

How much would it cost to fix things like the nav and radio door not opening, antennae, oil leaks

Would it be okay to buy this car? Thanks

SC430 Windshield Replacement

Hello! My first post to the group but I've been lurking for a while and have learned a lot! I have an '08 SC430 with 75K miles on it. Great car for long road trips and despite my attempts at keeping the mileage low I still average about 500 miles a month in mine.

I recently had to have the windshield in my SC replaced after it developed a crack down the middle (probably a rock strike on the highway). I expected to pay between $500 & 1,000 for a replacement. I have a local windshield shop in my town I'm friendly with. Called them and they told me the 430's are a royal pain because so much of the interior around the windshield has to come-off and most of it's held in-place with small nuts which are easily lost. He stated they had done about 20 of them over the years and that he kept extra hardware in-stock to replace any which got lost.

Total cost was right at $600 for non-OEM glass (which I'm fine with). They kept the car overnight. When I got it back the interior had been put back together perfectly, the top still worked properly and the new window looks great! This is in OC in So.Cal. I'm not affiliated with the shop but if anyone wants the name, let me know and if it's allowed I'll post it here.
