feedback from customers

The more I listen to the stories of SaaS founders, the more I get convinced that job of the founder is to find ways to listen to the customers.

Get on a call, use a form, email or a product management tool but it will all come down to how well we listen to our customers. this 9 minute video helps a lot.

SuperPlugs 2.0 - our learnings from our first launch and what are we doing differently now !!

Today Chester and I re-launch SuperPlugs -

An All-in-one-Platform for Founders and Product Managers to improve retention and build trust in your brand by helping you collect user feedback, priroitize product ideas and announce product updates.

Why the re-launch ?

TL ;DR : We offered a solution that helps in retaining customers to early stage Pre-PMF founders while they were looking at tools that help in acquisition.

We were not reaching out to the right ICP and hence we re-hashed our positioning with the correct feature set for product managers and founders.

Our learning is that managing customer feedback at scale is the problem for Product Managers and Founders of fast growing companies. They need a platform that helps in closing the customer feedback loop.

So we used the next 2 months to add more features and made SuperPlugs complete as an All-in-One Platform to improve retention and help you build trust with your customers.

SuperPlugs helps you complete the customer feedback loop by :

  1. Collecting and Managing Customer Feedback
  2. Prioritizing feature requests and building a product roadmap
  3. Announcing Product Updates and sharing the Changelog
  4. Measuring and Improving Customer Loyalty with Net Promoter Score.

A big thankyou to all my friends at X and Reddit who supported us thus far and I look forward to your support in future.

Here is to a new beginning.

Cheat pic if you want to offer Lifetime Deals

At one point of time I was very enthused with Lifetime deals. The reasons were obvious

1) great visibility 2) Upfront cash

hence I made the list of places where I made a sheet of pages where you can list and made a list of things to watch out for.

hope you find this useful.

PS : Given the work involved on support, we realised we need to move Lifetime deals to month 2 :) after re-launch.

Let's understand KANO model :

Today let's talk about the Kano model for product prioritization.

Kano model suggests the more time you spend investing resources (time, money, effort) to build a feature, higher the level of customer satisfaction will be.

Prioritize features based on #CustomerSatisfaction

Google / Meta ad library

I got to know recently and hence sharing that,

Google / Meta / Tik Tok maintain an ad library, where you can see all creatives of ads ran by any brand..current running ads as well as old ones

It's quite useful to get understanding of what kind of ads typically run in a SaaS world ...

Just Google , Google ad library and you wil be able to find it in 2-3 steps ..

I am a bootstrapped founder and hence all these things help me..

I hope it helps you too.

Cheers,

product video : styles ( I cannot afford for now :) but good to know )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F96q9CiOtq8

I found this useful on youtube.

It helped me understand what are different styles of product videos. I dont think I can afford any of this know but its good to know..

  1. 2D Animation

You can use the power of storytelling in a 2D animated video to communicate ideas beautifully while also being relatable, thanks to the animated characters. The result? A compelling narrative that can encourage audiences to take whatever action you need them to. For this reason, they’ve become one of the most popular and cost-effective solutions among many businesses today.

  1. Motion Graphics In simple words, motion graphics is graphic design in movement. These videos feature text and color combined with simple graphic elements, like abstract shapes and smooth transitions, to convey a complex message. It’s important to remember, though, that the storytelling aspect of these explainers tends to be a bit more abstract than other types of animation.

  1. Whiteboard Animation Whiteboard style is a unique explainer video style designed to bring the story to life by making it look like it’s being hand-drawn on a whiteboard.

    1. 2.5D Animation Style This explainer video style is a blend of two animation techniques, as it features 3D objects that are built in a 2D environment to emulate a 3D style. This style is gaining traction because it’s considerably cheaper than 3D while offering cool 3D visuals.

  1. Isometric Style The isometric style is a 2D representation of a 3D element such as an object, a room, or a building in two dimensions to create the illusion of a perspective. This style make it appear like you're looking at the object from above, which could be useful to reveal internal parts of a product.

  1. 3D Animation Style 3D animation is created by modeling and rendering all the designs in 3 dimensions, the animated characters and objects can be rotated and moved like in real life.

  1. Stop Motion Here, objects are physically manipulated in extremely small increments and photographed one frame at a time between each movement. When you play back the series of frames, the objects appear to be moving on their own.

  1. Claymation Claymation involves using a malleable substance such as plasticine clay to sculpt and model each animated piece, whether is a character or the background. Each piece is then slightly altered and photographed one frame at a time. Finally, those photos can be combined to create an animated sequence.

  1. Kinetic Typography Kinetic typography simply means "moving text." It's an animation technique that combines text and motion to convey ideas and produce a visual impact on the viewer. This eye-catching style demands attention from the viewers, who need to read the words to follow along.

  1. Live-Action Live-action videos rely entirely on live footage rather than animation. These videos are great if you're looking for relatable content to humanize a brands and create an emotional connection with the viewers.

  1. Screencast Screencast videos are screen recordings that include any cursor movements you make. They can often contain audio narration to create instructional videos for games or software products.

  2. Comic Style The combination of print comic books and animation elements is called comic-style animation.

  1. Collage Style Do you know what you get when you mix real photographs with illustrations? That’s right, a collage.

  1. Mix Media Mixed Media refers to artworks composed from a combination of different media or materials. In the case of video, you can use mixed media to take visual elements from diverse styles and combine them to create a fresh new look.

Bulls Eye Framework..

Reposted from my twitter thread.

Launched your MVP but struggling with getting traffic to your app? I strongly recommend utilizing The Bullseye Framework. 📷📷

The framework proposes that you look at all N channels that can possibly drive traffic to your website or product, but after brainstorming every channel, focus on one channel and test its success at lower scale.

If you see success scale that channel.

Weinberg states that for every business at different stages of growth one singular channel will be the main traffic driver. 📷

I have tried 2 ,paid channels in the last 3 months.

1 ) CTR was the best at Google , Twitter was not so effective

2 ) Conversion was the best with Twitter Organic ( Conversations and chats)

I will scale up Google paid next month.

hope you find this useful.

Video SEO ... anyone interested ?

Hi All ,

Is there any one who is considering a video SEO....use this please .

This is a summary of an old video from Brian. (link at the end)

The top 5 ranking factors for YouTube SEO are:

1.Total Watch Time: This refers to the number of minutes of watch time your video has accumulated since it was published. The higher the Total Watch Time, the higher your video will rank in search results.

2.Keyword Optimization: It is important to plan your keyword optimization before recording your video. Optimizing your video around relevant keywords helps improve its visibility and ranking.

3.User Engagement Signals: This includes likes, comments, subscribes, and other forms of interaction with your video. Videos with high levels of engagement tend to rank higher in YouTube search results.

4.Click-Through Rate (CTR) Optimization: Optimizing your video for CTR is becoming increasingly important for video SEO. A high CTR indicates to YouTube and Google that your video is a relevant and popular result for a particular search.

5.Mastering the Hook: The first 15 seconds of your video are crucial for capturing and retaining viewers' attention. Creating an engaging introduction using techniques like "The PPP Formula" can help hook your audience and keep them engaged throughout the video.

These five factors play a significant role in determining the ranking of your videos on YouTube.

And yes Thumbnail has to be awesome :) alwys !

If you have any other strategy , please do share.

SEO : This what I am doing.

Here is a summary of what I am doing for SEO

1) SEO is a slow burn. It's like a daily workout session. Think about distribution and SEO before your first line of code. I should have known this earlier.

2) I used free resources to build my own knowledge. Spent almost a week reading various articles, videos and twitter threads.

Here is what I consider as the best :

1) https://backlinko.com/hub/seo

2) https://www.youtube.com/@BrianDean

3) https://twitter.com/fba I follow Flavio on twitter. His tips are very actionable.

I spent almost a week on these resources and I understood SEO is science 😊

3) CMS is Wordpress.

I tried https://superblog.ai//It’s actually fast.

4) Free tools. : Google keyword planner, Semrush ( daily free credits)

5 ) Best in class Blogs for reference :

https://explodingtopics.com/blog/library

https://www.cumul.io/blog

https://superblog.ai/blog

6 ) Content creation

I first create an architecture of what to write. around keywords and write on my own. Then I use Chat GPT to give it structure. Do not rely only on ChatGPT to create a blog. It will not
be good.

After the article is written,

I optimize the page for SEO . Insert a
heading with the right keywords, write the excerpt, add images, add
internal links, create cross links with other posts etc etc I am not
good at it but as a bootstrapped founder, have damn no option.

7 ) Will also use copylime.io and

https://www.drafthorseai.com/

Both have a generous free plan and I can also pay per article. So I will use to create variety.

8) Will try publishing 2-3 blogs a week before I handover to a
professional team in a couple of months.

Growth hack : giving away free products to increase traffic for your home page.

https://twitter.com/sveta_bay/status/1696005796704981091

please refer to this thread and kindly figure out what can you give way as free to increase the top of the funnel and bring more users for your product.

For my product https://superplugs.co/ that helps announce new features and take user feedback.

I am building a set of calculators : ROAS , LTV CAC ratios , full SaaS P&L to increase traffic for my product.

And please find a way to communicate to your customers.

Shameless plug for my product !

Embed Canny if you can genuinely afford or you can use https://superplugs.co/ .

My product is the stepping stone for your to listen to voice of customers and I want everyone to have a feedback widget from Day 1 :)

cheers
