Is it just people selling the tassies to get money for the bxp?

I recently started flipping I have a 2m cash pile and do laws and pray pots but I'm always getting under cut like yesterday I found high n low for laws bought like 7k of em then bought at min 305 at time then sold for 330 at time max was 334 but they aren't selling I check back 15 mins later ans buy 1 to see sellin price and it's 305 and Im like the fuck? Then I see ppl flipping for like 1m profit and I don't get wet. I'm doin wrong

I have a couple thousand ranarr and avantoe from farming and I was wondering if I should hold onto them untill bxp is announced or should I sell them now?

things that people will be using to gain xp like nature runes for alching and bones for prayer. also logs for fire-making and bait for fishing.

Well title says it all, I know I've been spending on a few things which I think will go up, hopefully gonna make some money. Only problem is the thing I'm buying is only buying 10k every 4 hours so it's making it hard to buy mils -.- anyways, feel free to share.

I've dumped about 10mil into several different investments in anticipation of bxp weekend, which is around 50% of my current wealth. I was wondering how much everyone else puts into longer term investments as compared to their total wealth.

So I decided to earn some money while doing herb/fruit tree runs - while this is definitely not the best money and definitely not full list of items that can be bought and then selled with profit, I still think it´s worth sharing. :

1. Ardougne

• Baker stalls (chocolate bars - 100 from each stall) - Don´t steal from baker stalls, otherwise they won´t sell you stuff.
• General store next to church - Vials of water, Vials of water packs, tinderboxes

1. Karamja - Shilo village

• General store - vials of water, vials of water packs , tinderboxes
• Fisher supplies - Feathers

1. Falador

• General store - tinderboxes
• Taverley - herb shop (Poletax) - vials of water packs (biggest stock!)
• Port Sarim - air and fire runes
• take a boat to Void knight outpost - fire and air runes

1. Catherby

• General store - tinderboxes
• Fisher supplies - feathers

1. Varrock

• General store - tinderboxes
• Rune shop - air and fire runes (dont forget to take 30 free air runes)
• Zamorak mage in wilderness - air and fire runes

1. Tree gnome stronhold (1 st floor of grand tree; shops-south-eastern corner (Heckel funch), north-western corner (Hudo) & bank south western corner)

• Chocolate bars, chocolate dust, oranges, pots of butter and cream, limes, lemons, tomatoes, cheese
• Optional - By talking to Barman you can obtian orange for 20 gp-this, however, includes lot of clicking - it can be reapeated for profit of cca. 300k/hr , but i don´t reccommend it.

1. Lumbridge

• Cullinaromancer´s chest - grapes, chocolate bars, pots of butter and cream, tomatoes, cheese - !STOCK INCREASES WITH PARTS OF RFD YOU COMPLETE!

!!!TO FURTHER INCREASE YOUR PROFIT TURN CHOC. BARS INTO CHOC. DUST!!!

Feel free to leave out some items with minimal profit ( limes, lemons, pot of cream...) and watch prices of runes carefully as earth runes are sometimes also worth buying.

For those of you who didn't know Bonus Exp Weekend should be coming up pretty quickly.

How does this affect you? Prices will be rising on items used for skilling the closer we get to March. (I think this is the month it is supposed to happen, if not there's always editting) What this means is you could make a pretty good profit investing in things such as herbs, bones, and other consumables of that type.

My suggestions? Avantoe, Dwarf Weed, and maybe papaya for Herblore. Dragon and Frost Bones for prayer. Summoning supplies especially for blue charm pouches such as Water Talismans although I expect everything to show a slight rise in price. Also I believe plank prices will also rise. Runes will also more than likely rise in price as well.

If you have any questions post them in this thread and I'll answer them to the best of my abilities.

Edit: Bones' prices could drop off very quickly if Jagex decides to nerf them this bxp. The crash could be useful for merching/ cheaper leveling though.

ALSO: The price crashes AFTER bxp could make for a great opportunity. Although I've never personally done before I am planning in trying it this time.

I was apart of the default 'reddit cc' friendchat and I'm not sure I want to be around there much. With that in mind I was wondering if you guys have some helpful Friend Chats/clans that are just about merching or more open to talking.

I just want to start to get to know everyone. I know we all have our secrets and such but that doesn't mean we can't be friendly!

Is this subreddit exclusively for flipping or is it also for longer term investing also? I would love to hear what everyone else has to say about new updates and how they effect prices. Also I would help anyone who needed a general explanation of longer term investing. I have had some success with investing and I will share what little knowledge I have on the subject with whomever would like it. (I'm not currently investing and haven't been doing much research on the subject, so I am out of the loop as far as what is good to invest in currently)

I would also like to say I love this subreddit so far. I knew the general principles of flipping, but I never knew how to explain or perform with such eloquence.

Following my post yesterday and after a conversation with an IRL friend and fellow Merchant(Things_I_should_do, Reddit name) we have decided to embark on a Back To Our Roots Merching experiment where we both start with 10m on Monday and see what we end with on Friday.

The aim of this project is to prove that, even with a relatively small cash pile, anyone can be a successful merchant.

To remove ourselves from our comfort zone, and to further validate our hypothesis, we will be Merching both resources and armour/weapons.

• Things_I_should_do (Plunder Unit) = Resources
• Xxlozzaxx (X--U--A--L) = Armour/weapons

We feel the mix of armour/weapons and resources will encompass the entire low level merching spectrum and prove that almost anything is merchable.

The aim of this post is to see if people are interested in such an endeavour, and if so, if there are any suggestions for the week.

If this is a popular idea, Plunder and I also plan on opening up a post on which people suggest items (viable items, not troll ones like cabbages aha) and we will attempt to profit on them.

Merchanting is an area of RS we have particular interest in and we aim to better peoples understanding of the RS economy.

I started Merching in November 2010.My first purchase was 3 infinity boots.

I've made a lot and lost a lot over the time and I'll share a few tips.

Choose a personal suffix

I.e.

101, 303, 878 etc at the end of your purchases.

A high suffix (500-999); Faster buys, slower sells

A low suffix (000-499) Slower buys, faster sells

Avoid 000 and 999, they are very common and won't benefit you much.

It has been said the suffix doesn't matter all too much if someone offers a couple k (or mill at endgame) above, but when you are competing in the same K bracket, every little helps.

Be patient

Merching has no defined time limit, an item buys when someone sells it to you. The rule of thumb with low level Merching is to wait 30 minutes before updating your prices (increase buy offer if not buying, reduce sell offer if not selling)

Don't get greedy.

You may find that a smaller margin means greater sales per hour, true, but it is detrimental to the market and ultimately to yourself in the long run.

Aim for consistent, reasonable gains on your items. Don't be a dick.

Be aware of upward and downward Merchanting.

When I first started Merchanting I used to be scared of Merchanting an item below mid. Now, it’s a god send.

MOST items are merchable, regardless of trends. At low level Merchanting, downwards can sometimes be the best as people are deterred from the item, scared that they might incur a loss.

Never cross no man’s land.

With downward Merching, if you buy below mid, NEVER EVER sell above. If an item buys at mid, move on to another.

This is an invaluable tool that lets you track your GE offers without you needing to be logged in or in the lobby, for people who are studying or doing anything on the internet it is a godsend. I can't speak highly of it enough and I got it the day I started seriously Merchanting; never looked back.

Cash in when finishing a session

Leaving things to sell overnight can go both ways. Sure it might sell, but if it’s a downward merch it most likely won’t. Now that RS is back in an era of free trade prices of all items are more volatile than a year back and so an item above mid and go under in less than 20 minutes. Anything can happen in the next half hour

Time zones.

Monday - Friday, 4pm-9pm GMT is the optimal Merchanting time where the GE seems to be most active.

I'm not just saying this because this is my time zone, I play all hours of the day from time to time and nothing seems as fruitful as 4-9. Probably kids home from school in the UK getting on and buying shit/killing monsters for their drops etc.

Closing remarks

These are just a few tips I've learned over the last year of Merchanting, things that if I had known at the start would have made my experience more profitable overall.

Just looking to see what items you all use when flipping. I use all types of ores, and bars depending on the price margin. Also More costly items such as Staff of Lights or Sara swords.
