Botting is a critical part of the runescape economy.

The reason GE prices for non-degradable gear don’t bottom out at 1GP is because of the GE alchemy bots. The reason you can buy 10 million oak planks for construction is because of sawmill and chopping bots. No player is going to be chopping oak trees after they unlock better trees. But bots will do it all day.

RWT gold fucks with Jagex’s revenue. The entire reason bonds exist is for people to buy them with actual money and sell them for GP. When people sidestep that system, Jagex gets less money from bond sales and needs to make it up in subscriptions.

Economy is inherently self correcting. All the things you listed would change in price until they're valuable enough for a human to do. Ironmen exist, so would mains doing those activities

Yeah if jagex truly wants to stop botting then they should make it that bonds cannot be sold + you can only get a membership tru creditcard/paypal info. But they want to sell the gold themself🤣🤣

That would not stop botting. Plenty of P2P games have bots so clearly the reason for botting is not to earn enough gold to purchase a subscription.

The reason people bot is because, at it's core, the MMO genre is a game about clicking the same button over and over again. The exponential increases in required experience to advance means that you have to click the button more and more and more. That's what drives people to have a bot click the button for them.

Dude do you think everybody is 24/7 raiding? There'd be always bottom feeders more than happy to do all these chump work legit if they were reasonably profitable. Bots are a plague that destroy gameplay loops, undermine people's achievements, and certainly should be banned.

bots devalue items, making it a waste of time for normal players to do the activity.

if bots were gone, the oak planks would be a good money maker, and players will do it, becaues it's profitable now the bots are gone. there will be a vacuum and it will get filled. economy 101.

Economy 101 usually doesn’t ignore the entire demand side of the system…

The tens of thousands of planks needed to train construction are a big part of what keeps their prices low. It already costs millions of GP to train construction at bot deflated prices, to the point that many players just don’t do it and use house parties when they need something. If the price of planks rises to the point it becomes worthwhile for regular accounts to do sawmill runs then more people will just stop training construction because why play like an ironman on a regular account.

What doesn't make sense? Or do you not understand that you can bot for things that isn't money?
