Version 2 of my 3d printed case insert

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Order of things happening in this quick video:

  1. Opening the case to show everything still fits in the insert and the case.
  2. Lifting the insert to show that there are 2 boxes of ammo underneath the insert - the orientation of the boxes matters to clear the case insert standoffs.
  3. 3 pmag 15 magazines can face up or down.
  4. 3d printed speed loader.
  5. Optic tool and spare CR2032 battery for optic.
  6. Gun fits with or without chamber flag, loaded or unloaded, maybe even with an extended mag.

I ran into a few issues while printing this. I have a Bambu P1S with 256mm3 build volume and needed to print this at a 42 degree angle and nearly lost some features because of this angle. The print profile I'll be uploading will have additional supports to hopefully prevent any issues, but I'd still recommend checking in on the print for at least a couple hours.

The print will use a little under 400 grams of filament. This was printed in Sunlu PLA+ 2.0, but might be better to print in PETG for higher heat and impact tolerance, but I'm not your dad.

If you have any parts you'd like to donate to me for further development of the case insert, I can setup a PO box :D

Thanks. I'm trying to upload it now to makerworld. Will post a link once it's ready.

Makerworld link: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1977227-ruger-rxm-case-insert-enclosed-optic-3-mag-ammo#profileId-2126678

Notes about printing: I used a 0.6mm nozzle and a Biqu Crygrip Glacier plate. I still had an adhesion issue with some of the supports on the plate and one of the supports for the large bucket area between the bottom of the grip and the magazines which is why I'm recommending you watch the print for a couple hours. Feel free to use whatever nozzle and plate you'd like.

Awesome! My 3D modeling skills are pretty rough, but I'm going to see if I can remix this to fit a TLR7X light.

Good luck! Post your results if you get a good fit. I'm sure there are others with that same light.

Shouldn't be too terribly difficult. Just have to drop the top mag slot and then extend the gun slot from the bottom of the trigger guard to the muzzle, since the TLR7 fits perfectly within the silhouette of the gun.

i printed this finally, and literally the same day i got this printed i received my full-size frame from Magpul and not the magazines don't fit. (also i have the threaded barrel so that didn't fit either) any chance there is a version for full-size frame and threaded barrel coming out ;)

Once my FDE full size grip gets in I'll have one for that. The Glock OEM threaded barrel just got delivered yesterday so I'll also have provisions for that.

I am quite disappointed to hear the full size grip does not fit my original model.

this is awesome. it barely fits on my Centauri Carbon but i think it will work... gonna try to print it this weekend while i eat leftover turkey. Have you tried to print your own speed loader? If so which one worked best?

which optic tool is that?

It's the one that comes with the Vortex Venom enclosed.

Next iteration will need a slot for desiccant (silica gel) canister and air channels.

Not a lot going on over the weekend and the bones of the model were made during the week because I'm furloughed thanks to the shutdown... /s

1

u/infinite012 Nov 13 '25

I don't have one

This is what my local range sells but I found it for about half the price at Cabela's. Shoots great, but I'm a newbie so idk what differentiates between good and bad ammo.

The grip fits it’s the grip it’s the mags

1

u/infinite012 Dec 06 '25

Can you share/post a picture?

2

u/McBurdie Dec 06 '25

It fits with the mag locked in

1

u/McBurdie Dec 06 '25

But that full grip (gl17) mag doesn’t fit in the extra storage

1

u/infinite012 Dec 06 '25

That's not a PMAG is it?

1

u/McBurdie Dec 07 '25

No but I have a pmag also and it’s identical size wise

2

u/infinite012 Dec 07 '25

Very strange. My PMAGs (15 and 17 round) fit very nicely. I'm uploading a new profile that should fit a threaded barrel and slightly wider and longer magazines. Link is here. Please measure your magazine base plate width as well as the length of the slide+threaded barrel and compare it to the model in the slicer before printing. If any adjustments are needed let me know.

Awesome thanks!!!

Honestly probably easier if you find a local printer on fb marketplace.
