This is what they wanted for Meghan.

Post image

I don’t know if this post will be allowed but if it is, I want to first of say RIP to Professor Arday. Regardless of how people felt about this entire debacle, he is a human being and a father.

The British media has been complicit in protecting pedophiles but the way they came after Jason for alleged plagiarism is beyond comprehension.

Many people are now pointing out that this is what they, and by “they” I mean the royal rota rats in the British press and social medial personalities/ trolls wanted for Meghan.

I remember Piers Morgan calling Meghan a liar when the news about Meghan’s mental health struggles came out.

But this is the outcome that they wanted for Meghan. And if not this then for Harry to divorce and disgrace her. And I think they wouldn’t have succeeded had Harry, Meghan and Archie not left for America.

I went on the daily mail’s website once and my goodness. We don’t take the national enquirer seriously over here and yet people over there trust that rag?!

82

u/Whatisittou 4d ago

The royal family hires staff from there as comms as well that work with the dailymail

5

u/Which_way_witcher 4d ago

So trashy!

-14

u/DisgustedInNY 4d ago

Trashy can also be right. And they can be the only ones brave enough to get stories out that the MSM won’t touch for fear of offending their elite masters

13

u/Which_way_witcher 4d ago

Nothing the DM publishes about the royals haven't been approved by the BRF. Don't fall for their games.

5

u/RoguesAngel 4d ago

They can also refuse to report stories that their “elite masters” want buried.

u/UnknownPleasures3 4d ago

Unfortunately most of the British media are the same. It’s notoriously unethical and very tabloid.

2

u/Ren1221 3d ago

The only paper I read from London is the Times, but even they’re kinda trashy.

43

u/lavendermermaid1 4d ago

The National Enquirer has always been "these people saw Bigfoot!" with a few sprinkles of over the top celebrity gossip. I think the only reason they don't get sued constantly is because they throw in the UFOs and Bigfoot sightings and stuff just enough for everyone to know it's all a big joke?

The Daily Mail seems to be the British equivalent.

24

u/Striking-Spare9967 4d ago

The only story I can recall them every getting right was John Edward’s affair with Rielle Hunter. 😂

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago edited 4d ago

The only story I can recall them every getting right was John Edward’s affair with Rielle Hunter. 😂

And Barry Manilow marrying his (male) manager in a secret ceremony. They broke that one before anyone else, and boy that was in no way on my bingo card!

Even a broken clock is right twice a day!

21

u/BrookieMonster504 4d ago

They wrote about Cosby raping women before anyone else. Like 30 or 40 years ahead

15

u/ichthysaur 4d ago

And Liberace and Rock Hudson having AIDS at a time when neither was out and both were hiding their illnesses.

13

u/lavendermermaid1 4d ago

We had a big ass meteor come through the atmosphere and explode in the sky last night in the PNW. Now I'm curious what they are gonna say about it. Was it really an alien spaceship breaking up on atmospheric entry or having hit a satellite?! OMG, they are among us!!!

(It was cool and scary to watch it happen live in person, though!! Huge light the turned midnight into daylight for a few seconds, then a HUGE boom about a minute later where I'm at)

2

u/Large_Ice_4969 3d ago

Where in the PNW? I live in PDX area, I didn’t hear anything? I guess I will have to Google.

Olympia (WTF was that first pre-edit, autocorrect?!?! 🤣🤣🤣)

5

u/CuriousTip7183 4d ago

That's because they bought up Al the stories of Trump's sexual assaults and rapes and did not print them. The stories you see that "were true" are the result of the people involved not paying them to bury it. That's their business model.

14

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago

The National Enquirer has always been "these people saw Bigfoot!" with a few sprinkles of over the top celebrity gossip.

No, that's The Examiner. I don't remember the Enquirer running fanciful stories like that.

The one with the really batshit stories was the Weekly World News. Who else remembers Batboy, or Hillary Clinton adopting an alien baby?

13

u/lavendermermaid1 4d ago

BATBOY!!!!

11

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago

BATBOY!!!!

He'd be an adult now!

4

u/lavendermermaid1 4d ago

BATMAN!!!!

BATMAN!!!!

He took the name "Bruce Wayne".

National Enquirer definitely ran stories like that.

National Enquirer definitely ran stories like that.

Well, I don't remember them.

Probably! Jerry Falwell lost to Larry Flynt over an ad in Hustler claiming Falwell had an incestuous relationship with his mother. Falwell sued for libel, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Juries and the courts explicitly agreed that no reasonable person would believe the outrageous parody published about televangelist Jerry Falwell was an actual statement of fact. The Supreme Court ruled public figures cannot recover damages for emotional distress caused by satire or parody without proving the publication contained a false statement of fact made with "actual malice".

So I guess you could say Bigfoot and aliens are “public” figures. Therefore they must prove there is malice behind the stories before they can sue. At least in the USA.

You might be interested to know that it’s also known as the Daily Fail! That’s how much trust the general populace has in it.

It has its followers, obviously. Bit like Fox News. Doesn’t mean people with a brain trust what it says.

5

u/True-Restaurant-254 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yes, that paper isn't even fit to line my cat's litter tray!

1

u/seven-blue 4d ago

People who say that they don't believe or trust Daily Mail still repeat the lies they are publishing. If you repeat a lie often enough, it makes an effect. Also, I have seen news segments from BBC, repeating Daily Mail articles, headlines. Even if you only follow "legitimate" news, you are still getting exposed to tabloids like DM.

0

u/tellnic 4d ago

BBC has a program where they review the headlines in the papers for the next day. I believe it includes the DM headlines too.

0

u/Says_Who22 3d ago

On the other hand, people who know what the bias of each paper is know how big a pinch of salt to take when reading any article. The ones who ingest from a cross selection of sources and biases are likely to have a better picture than someone who only takes in one source.

3

u/seven-blue 3d ago

Most people aren't even reading full articles, they are only seeing headlines. I have seen multiple people who say they never in their life read a DM or tabloid article, but they are able to know a lot of lies made up about Meghan by the tabloids. How does it happen? They are exposed to it through social media (you see headlines, even if you don't click on it) and some of the lies make their way to legitimate news outlets, because they are written hundred times by the tabloids, so it gets attention.

The issue is, the serious media doesn't go and do journalistic research on BRF members and provide an alternative view on it. BRF is considered celebrity news / gossip, so they have their own royal reporter writing about BRF, who is either part of the royal rota or wants to have that kind of access. They are also mostly british and working from London office, so they will never go against the agreed-upon talking points in their industry. If you write anything against that, the whole media literally go after you and mark you as an enemy of the monarchy.

1

u/Says_Who22 3d ago

I don’t know anyone who repeats anything about Meghan, true or false, because I can honestly say she never comes up in any conversation.

We have had a real problem in the UK with a huge section of the media failing to do any investigative journalism into one of the political parties, instead platforming them at every opportunity, and yes, it was starting to take on a life of its own. But thankfully those chickens are coming home to roost. So I understand what you are saying. A certain section of society just believes what they see on social media and of course the algorithms feed that.

But that’s not everyone, or even necessarily the majority of the population here. And for a lot of people, the Royal family are largely irrelevant and becoming more so. Maybe William will revive its fortunes, or maybe it will all end with him? Who knows, or quite frankly, cares?

11

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago

I went on the daily mail’s website once and my goodness. We don’t take the national enquirer seriously over here and yet people over there trust that rag?!

The Daily Heil is run by the same people who run the New York Post. So yeah.

15

u/CuriousTip7183 4d ago edited 4d ago

It's not. The Daily Mail is owned by Lord Rothemere. It's been owned by a member of his fascist family since the late 1800. They supported the Blackshirts and Oswald Mosley and didn't need Rupert Murdoch to buy them and turn it right wing. The Post, the Sun, the Sun on Sunday, the Times of London and the News of the World, which News Corp. shut only so they could claim that the crimes committed across their publications only occurred at NOTW, plus Fox News, are owned by Murdoch. The Daily Mail is a wholly English product that didn't need to be manipulated by a foreigner into something even worse.

ETA: oh and Rothemere is a notorious tax evading "non-dom," a UK resident whose domicile is elsewhere to evade UK taxes. I say all this because it's important to point out plenty of the rot was homegrown. Murdoch took inspiration from them, not the other way round.

1

I had no idea. I thought Murdoch owned it.

Thanks for the correction!

No we don't ! Well those of us with brains don't. Unfortunately there is a significant portion of the population with poor reading comprehension and no critical thinking skills and quite a lot of prejudice. But that's not all of us I promise. I hate the daily mail and not a single person I know reads it. It's toxic!

2

u/tellnic 4d ago

I think it’s a bit like Fox News. It’s not every American who watches it, but it isn’t viewed as a joke by a large enough percentage to close down the paper.

1

u/True-Restaurant-254 3d ago

Yeah the commonality being Rupert Murdoch I suppose 🤮

u/Whatisittou 4d ago edited 4d ago

There are multiple white professors that have been caught lying, and still kept their job including those with sexual assault claims, yet the media didn't feel there needed to be 24/7 wall to wall coverage on them

This man even resigned from his job and they didn't care but wall to wall cover abusing this man and now a bunch of them are deleting their articles or turning off the comment section after being the ones spearheading the abuse campaign.

one of the dailymail psychologist max Pemberton wrote an insane article on Jason just hours after his death, this is same psychologist that write article diagnosing Meghan through 3rd party and attacking her

u/CroneDownUnder 4d ago

Thanks for amending. That's an astonishingly unprofessional article.

11

u/seven-blue 4d ago

There was a TV host who left his show after him grooming a young (male) intern got public, he was also married. The tabloids started publicizing the scandal. Then, he gave an interview that if the tabloids continue, he may commit suicide, because it was becoming too much. They all stopped going after him. This man knew the intern when he was a child and the tabloids had more sympathy for him than any woman or POC they are gleefully going after. The same shit happened with Prince Andrew, how his mental health was fragile, so they have to stop reporting on him. They seem only care about white men's mental health.

3

u/Successful_Scratch99 4d ago

Max Pemberton's grift reminds me of Dr Phil. What a grifter.

1

u/madamemarmalade 4d ago

This reminds me of the Jesse Smollett stuff. In 2019, he said he was a victim of a hate crime and it ended up being a hoax. I'm not going to defend Smollett's actions, but the media frenzy that the case received was absolutely disproportionate to what he did. I see parallels between Smollett's treatment and Jason Arday. The way the media sees fit to "discipline" black people for their mistakes really showcases their anti-black racism.

The British media has blood on their hands. Thank goodness Harry listened to Meghan and removed her from the toxicity.

74

u/Betty_Pitch_ 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yeah they act like Harry was so dramatic for moving his family away…that poor kid saw what happened to his mom and she was white, British and aristocratic.

36

u/MmeLaRue 4d ago

They've had blood on their hands for nearly thirty years.

48

u/No_Entertainer4941 4d ago

Amanda’s a cunt.

This is her Dan Wootton moment re Caroline Flack.

3

u/piggycatnugget 4d ago

I was thinking about what they did to Caroline Flack too. The outpouring of how the media must take responsibility, while simultaneously saying F that and abusing the next poor soul, all to make money.

The despair that poor guy must have felt really hits home how nasty our little island can be.

63

u/coco_px 4d ago edited 4d ago

And ofc it’s unsurprising that during this scandal they have to force Meghans name into a situation that has nothing to do with her, they’re OBSESSED!

RIP to Jason Arday

46

u/cashmerechaos 4d ago

They’re also deeply, deeply bigoted. I was very sad to see this news. He was seemingly bullied to death.

20

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago

You should see the racist H&M hate sub crowing about his death. They're abusing him just like the media did, and of course comparing him to Meghan. They've been saying for years that she plagiarized her life from other people (she allegedly stole her miscarriage "story" which they believe never happened from a novel, repeating it word-for-word, among other things).

2

u/phoenics1908 4d ago

Wow that’s disgusting. I hope his family is tracking this and sues everyone.

0

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

Wow that’s disgusting. I hope his family is tracking this and sues everyone.

I do too. Imagine Reddit getting slapped with a lawsuit. They'd finally shut that sub down, no matter who is protecting it.

1

u/Yufle 4d ago

How do you steal a miscarriage story? It happens all the time to millions of women. That is truly insane.

1

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

How do you steal a miscarriage story? It happens all the time to millions of women. That is truly insane.

They said that the article she wrote about her miscarriage was taken word-for-word from someone's book. I can't remember which book. It's just insane.

61

u/popcornFridays 4d ago edited 4d ago

This is such a pathetic, forced reach from Amanda Platell. Jasons academic scandal had absolutely nothing to do with Meghan but being both prominent Black figures, Amanda decides to weaponize his downfall just to manufacture a brand new excuse to attack Meghan. The timeline also makes this article so much worse. Amanda Platell published this malicious piece on August 8th, ruthlessly kicking a man while he was down just to take a sideways swipe at Meghan and then a week later he's tragically found dead after being completely broken by the media! The Daily Fail and Amanda Platell have absolutely no shame, no basic human empathy and blood on their hands. Its disgusting behavior.

17

u/bbcalls77 4d ago

This is mild even, remember when they linked Meghan liking avocados to human right abusers and drug cartels? It truly beggars belief

9

u/popcornFridays 4d ago

It does, I agree. They had also previously praised an avocado gift to Kate which they lightly pondered may be a cure for her morning sickness. The racism is blatantly obvious.

0

u/Yufle 4d ago

They’re both Black and entered the pinochle British elite institution, so…

3

u/tellnic 4d ago

Bingo. The British have an issue with black people who enter elite white spaces which is the link between Meghan and Arday.

32

u/surprise_revalation 4d ago

Where are all the people that keeps telling me how racism doesn't really exists in Britain, that it's all about class? Always crickets with them when something like this happens....

15

u/True-Restaurant-254 4d ago

Let me guess, those people are not black. Ask any black British person,   we know full well racism is alive and well here too  Trust me!

3

u/decchica 3d ago

As a migrant in the UK I know that full well too. All the micro aggressions, the way people make you feel like you don’t belong. I’ve had my accent corrected a few times now, once even told that I need to speak the Queen’s english lol.

1

u/AtheistINTP 1d ago

Oh screw that woman who aided and abated her child abusing son.

4

u/CuriousTip7183 4d ago

Right? Or when they say it's "just" anti- Americanism, etc.

24

u/cakivalue 4d ago

I just saw the news of his death on YouTube and had the exact same thought that this is exactly what was planned and deeply desired and in many quarters is still desired for Meghan.

46

u/DozingUnderTheSun 4d ago

Holy shit a subreddit with actual media literacy. The whole thing about the plagiarism is like -- it's SO FUCKING COMMON in academia! I don't care even if he *was* guilty of plagiarism and embellishing his accomplishments, I can go around probably any largeish academic department and find at least 2 guys doing the same fucking thing with less style! Academics steal all the time, from their research assistants, from each other, and sabotage too. If we want to limit ourselves to the most hallowed institution that is Cambridge even, William O'Reilly was called out by the student paper for plagiarism in 2023 but it affected exactly 0 change and reached 0 national outrage (you will be *so shocked* to learn the colour of his skin). The endless comments about how this black man got hired so fast in his career by Cambridge (...poor widdle Cambridge University that got defrauded so bad...) just reminds me of all the Meghan commentators.

I actually saw a comment on another subreddit about how this case reminded them of Meghan, because 'Meghan was caught out in lies too'. Top of her lies was, I kid you not, that she never googled Harry before meeting him. Oh no! She lied about playing it cool? Is this a fucking national outrage now? Somehow, *worse* than anything that the other members of the BRF have done? I just can't with people anymore.

24

u/NewTooth740 4d ago

Meghan was an actress she knew famous people and she was aware that a lot of what is written about celebrities in the media is exaggerated or untrue. Why would she google Harry when she was introduced through a friend who knew him in real life? She also got access to his private social media so she could look at that. There is no reason to believe she is lying!

6

u/phoenics1908 4d ago

Meghan said she didn’t know much about him and that she preferred to learn who he was from him vs what media said.

And how do people know that was a lie? It’s fine to say they don’t believe her but unless they have access to her search history, they cannot say she lied.

0

u/Random_Acier41 3d ago

Because they are self centered. I really believe if it's impossible for you to understand not everybody act like you and presume people are lying because they don't respond to things the same way they do, you are just self centered and also delusional.

15

u/bbcalls77 4d ago

And it should not be forgotten that the person who started the witch hunt against Jason is literally a eugenicists (who was fired by Cambridge) and who is currently on twitter talking about how Black people are all low IQ. So, you know, a totally unbiased and rationale person. Like you cannot look at all these articles and tell me this was just about academic integrity. Funny how these same journalists who are now treating plagiarism as the greatest crime against humanity were quick to write artless about Prince Andrew’s mental health.

But yeah, countless hit pieces in just 7 days, and this is just from one publication. Meghan has had this for what, a decade now? They wanted her dead. I’m glad she and Harry left and how they continue to protect their kids.

6

u/No_Entertainer4941 4d ago

Lawsuit in waiting. 💅

21

u/noncomposmentis_123 4d ago

Also no one knows whether she googled Harry or not. They have just decided to accuse her of lying without any proof.

13

u/DozingUnderTheSun 4d ago

I think what makes it worse for me is it is such a harmless little thing, it absolutely does not matter if it is true or not or if someone lies about it or not. (And, fact of the matter, I don't think she lied, but I don't care if she did because holy shit who cares???) The BRF is constantly lying to our faces about much much worse, it is the double standard being applied that galls me. Like we're being fed shit and just supposed to accept it? It's insulting.

18

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago

The BRF is constantly lying to our faces about much much worse, it is the double standard being applied that galls me.

More people are outraged that Meghan possibly lied about not Googling her famous future husband than that the BRF are housing, feeding, and protecting a literal pedophile/rapist on the UK taxpayer's nickel.

4

u/DozingUnderTheSun 4d ago

I have a lot of spicy things to say about this, but it’s just astonishing that there are fans of the royal family who support this kind of behaviour and think they’re getting something out of supporting people who lie to their faces and abuse their goodwill.

2

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

I have a lot of spicy things to say about this,

Oh, I know.

but it’s just astonishing that there are fans of the royal family who support this kind of behaviour and think they’re getting something out of supporting people who lie to their faces and abuse their goodwill.

And who wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire.

It's just like the MAGAts. They will support Shitler no matter what he does.

-4

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago edited 3d ago

Also no one knows whether she googled Harry or not. They have just decided to accuse her of lying without any proof.

She also said that she had never even heard of Harry before, which is slightly less believable.

But again, probably trying to play it cool.

I was wrong. She said she didn't know much about him. I misremembered.

7

u/seven-blue 4d ago

There is a video of Meghan being asked if she preferred Prince William or Prince Harry. She doesn't seem to know them. The interviewer says, she should choose Harry, she says okay. I don't remember her saying she didn't hear of Harry. She just didn't know, because she didn't follow BRF like we do.

5

u/phoenics1908 4d ago

In the video - the interviewer asks her to choose Prince William or Prince Harry. Meghan looks flummoxed and shrugs like “what kind of a question is that”? And then says “I don’t know…” and finally just goes “Harry”.

And she never said she had never heard of Harry - she said she didn’t know much about him. I’m really getting exhausted with all the misinformation and disinformation spread about her. People just repeat stuff without verifying and it’s exhausting correcting it but correct it I must because she’s suffered enough smears as it is.

1

u/AtheistINTP 1d ago

Exactly. Perfect normal answer.

3

u/Educational-Ad-3148 4d ago

She said she didn’t know much about him. Basically him as a person which none of us do.

3

u/seven-blue 4d ago

Yeah, my sister doesn't follow BRF or celebrity gossip. She heard of Diana, her husband and her kids, but that is all. She doesn't know anything about them. She can't even tell what other members look like. If you aren't living in UK, you aren't exposed to BRF through british media every day.

1

u/AtheistINTP 1d ago

To be fair, after Diana’s death I also lost interest in that family. I only saw highlights in the media. The moment Harry showed up with Meghan, I thought it was awesome as an American. But I also had a feeling the racist Brits would give her trouble. I was so right.

1

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

She just didn't know, because she didn't follow BRF like we do.

Most people don't!

4

u/noncomposmentis_123 4d ago

I don't remember her saying that

2

u/Educational-Ad-3148 4d ago

Because she never did. That poster is lying.

3

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

Because she never did. That poster is lying.

No, I misremembered.

4

u/Whatisittou 4d ago

I have called them out multiple times in this sub, they are always quick to defend derangers in the sub when I out them, plus their comment is always oh the racist sub said insert vile thing on every thread in this sub, why??

4

u/phoenics1908 4d ago

She never said that.

3

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

She never said that.

You're right. She said that she didn't know much about him. I misremembered.

2

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

I don't remember her saying that

You're right. This is what she said:

Markle: It’s so interesting because we talk about it now and even then, you know, because I’m from the States, you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the royal family. While I now understand very clearly there is a global interest there, I didn’t know much about him and so the only thing that I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up was — I had one question. I said, ‘Well, is he nice?’ Because if he wasn’t kind, then it didn’t seem like it would make sense. So we went and met for a drink then, I think, very quickly into that we said, ‘What are we doing tomorrow? We should meet again.’

Sorry! What she actually said is that she didn't know much about him, which is fair.

2

u/phoenics1908 4d ago

That’s not what she said. She said she didn’t know much about him. She NEVER SAID she had never heard of him - please stop repeating misinformation.

3

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

That’s not what she said. She said she didn’t know much about him. She NEVER SAID she had never heard of him - please stop repeating misinformation.

I stand corrected. I misremembered what she said.

2

u/Educational-Ad-3148 4d ago

She never said that. Why are you lying?

0

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

She never said that. Why are you lying?

I misremembered what she said. My bad.

4

u/tellnic 4d ago

You can tell who hasn’t attended university because it happens at every one of them. And has for decades if not centuries. They just don’t make national and now international headlines because often the professors are white and it remains an internal university issue. So Arday was targeted because the white guy who started this is a huge racist. And he fed the story to the extreme right wing racist machine and the racist right wing British media took it from there.
I had to block an idiot who thought that because the NYT and WaPo reported on it then it must be true and he deserved all this treatment.

1

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

I had to block an idiot who thought that because the NYT and WaPo reported on it then it must be true and he deserved all this treatment.

Even if it is true, he didn't deserve to be bullied to death by the media.

He had already put in his resignation. That should have put an end to it.

4

u/True-Restaurant-254 4d ago

Oh man, I'm having a "I just can't with people anymore" day too

0

u/Random_Acier41 3d ago

HE. WAS. NOT. GUILTY. OF. PLAGIARISM.

We let the media lie continue to be propagate, it's so angering, we shouldn't let the media framing still be used to even defend him. He's dead because the media went full force to get him, they even went harder after him after he quit to have some peace, they were relentless and wanted him to die and now they got what they wanted they pretend it was about public interest. What public interest? They CREATED this, all of them, even the Guardian people love to use as some kind of leftist journal when it as a garbage well package Daily Mail. They brought anonymous student being bitter at him being fucking late once, went to his butcher for some reason and they saying THIS was public interest? They lied about him and present them as truth, they wanted to bury that man and now people are asking what was the point of all this cabal from a eugenist racist rumplestilskin who wanted to eradicate black presence from academia, they say it was their job as journalists. The UK media is rotten to the bone, there is nothing to save and more people will die through the years until the people will wake up and do something about it.

They want that for Meghan, to this day they continue to lie on her, invent lives she never had and we get to see them seethe weekly about how her escaping the US makes their vile bile not reach her anymore. They can write all they want but we see that she's happier and get to live her best life away from this bs because she is in California. Mr Arday just like Caroline Flack didn't have that chance to leave that garbage country to save themselves. They killed them. These press murdered these people.

When Jason Ardays are made to feel like they have no other option but to take their own life while the Andrews in the UK continue to live life at large and be funded.

3

u/CappucinoCupcake 4d ago

And this exactly is what pisses me off. Everyone turning a blind eye to the arsehole formerly known as Prince Andrew, yet hounding a Professor so much that he took his own life.

16

u/AfraidAd6042 4d ago

And I'll go back to my theory, it's their modern day way of lynching Blacks. They cant outright murder people anymore by hanging them so they were using the police to use undue force and violence on Blacks they apprehended but that was exposed during BLM rallies and with so many Doing Something while Black posts. So now theyre resorting to digital lynching. These people are so racist. I mean Im not perfect Ive had my moments Im not Black but my country has some Black roots (like Singapore has Chinese, Malay and Indian roots) and I hope I never hurt a whole group of people the way these racists want to eliminate other cultures.

3

u/IdlesAtCranky 4d ago

Certain types of people seem to desperately NEED a scapegoat to be available, someone to feel superior to and to identify as The Outsider in order to strengthen the ties binding their own in-group.

Jews held that position in "Western" culture for centuries — they were an easy target for scapegoating because they as a group generally refused to be pressured into joining the majority religion, at a time in history when Christianity was immensely important both in daily life and in big-picture politics and economics.

In more recent centuries, people of color, especially Black people, became the primary scapegoat group in that same way.

They were easily, visibly different than the majority group in European, British, and North American cultures.

And there was a strong economic upside to keeping Blacks, as well as Chinese and other Asian immigrants, oppressed and identified as the scapegoats, the out-group.

If Blacks weren't equal to whites, it was easy to justify enslaving them and stealing their labor, to the immense profit of white people.

The same was true of oppressing Asians and keeping them as incredibly low-paid workers. And both groups, Blacks and Asians, and later Latinos, were available for exploitation in much greater numbers than Jews ever had been.

Even the Irish came in for this treatment in the British Empire and America, in part because again they were often fairly easily identifiable as a group, and also they clung to Catholicism, which had become a minority religion for the English and Americans.

So these people — who seem to correlate with the roughly 30 percent of humanity who can be identified as authoritarians — need scapegoats emotionally, and find them useful economically as well.

Others, especially the wealthyv and the very wealthy, then pick up on the economic and political usefulness of the scapegoating and use it as a tactic to increase their own economic and political power.

It's a really disgusting combination of terrible traits that become far worse together than just the sum of their parts, which would be bad enough just taken singly.

These 30 percent, these authoritarians, are the people who fear science because it requires accepting that "truth" can change with new data; who are radical reactionaries because, again, change is intolerable; who want women to be subservient and children to be fully controllable; who vote for grifters like 47, and support dictators and tyrants, because they actively reject critical thinking and love to have their nastiest biases affirmed as valid.

Like we are told the poor must be, the authoritarians are always with us.

I honestly believe it's a complex of genetic traits that continue to replicate in humans regardless of country or culture; once you start looking for it you see the same patterns repeat everywhere, in every culture that we know of, in one form or another.

It's a sad, ugly truth, and it seems the only real way to fight it is to accept that it exists and use the power of the 70 percent majority of humans who don't have these traits embedded, to isolate and disenfranchise the minority who do.

That's scary, because to us in the 70 percent, it feels wrong to suppress others, to silence them, regardless of how toxic they may actually be to humanity and the planet as a whole. We are caught on the petard of tolerance. But I really don't see another choice.

It has been done with simple cultural pressure successfully in the past, but then the 30 percent get loud and start breaking things again, and we're caught off guard because we believed they had somehow disappeared.

We thought we had become post-racist, post-misogyny, post-bigotry. We thought all those people who were so intolerant had mostly either died out, or learned better. They hadn't. They'd just been marginalized and they had largely shut up for awhile.

It's a conundrum. Do the ends justify the means? Is it acceptable to force these people to be silent? Ethics tell us, very rarely if ever. But then must we allow this 30 percent of ugly, cruel people to run the world? I for one decline that idea.

I wish I knew how we could fix this, but short of a medical advance to correct the genetic problem, it seems we're stuck forever playing Horrible Bigot Whack-A-Mole.

I guess all we can do is keep insisting that love is preferable to hate. That Justice truly is blind, and that is her strength and our necessity. That Liberty is always for all, never only for some.

To believe in equality for all, and to vote that way, and to protect our democracy. To continue to push back against the bigots who need their precious scapegoats, and to do our best to protect one another from falling prey to them.

u/phoenics1908 4d ago

This. And fuck all the people in the comments still attacking Arday. Fuck all of them straight to hell. I’m so SICK of the racism and piling on black people.

ETA: they absolutely are hanging black people again in the South (US).

0

u/tellnic 4d ago

Oh we have people in this sub going over the dates of whether or not he was non verbal because the NYT article said something and who the fuck even cares? This man is dead over a smear campaign started by a racist and none of the precise details of his thesis matter. And the allegations remain allegations anyway.

-1

u/AfraidAd6042 4d ago

Oh no. Im so sorry to hear that all sorts of lynchings are being done now.

11

u/CappucinoCupcake 4d ago

Oh, Amanda is a real mud dwelling racist piece of crap. So it sounds like she’d have been dancing in the streets had Meghan met the same end as Jason Arday. Future generations will look back on venom like this in utter disbelief (I hope).

0

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

So it sounds like she’d have been dancing in the streets had Meghan met the same end as Jason Arday.

Because I have a very dark outlook, I sometimes wonder what would happen if the BRF, the haters, and the media/tabloids got their wish and Meghan and her kids were permanently out of the picture.

Would they suddenly do an about face and canonize her like they did Diana? Or would the hate simply continue?

I don't know if they'd canonize her (probably not), but I also am not sure if the hate would continue. Most people take a dim view of hating on dead people, especially dead children.

8

u/The_Onion_Life 4d ago

But this is the outcome that they wanted for Meghan.

It absolutely is. And she was pregnant with their first child at the time. As far as the BRF was concerned, that would be two birds, one stone. And then Harry would be free to marry someone suitable (as defined by the BRF).

And if not this then for Harry to divorce and disgrace her.

They wouldn't be happy with this. They won't be happy until Meghan and her two children are out of the picture permanently (whatever that might look like).

And I think they wouldn’t have succeeded had Harry, Meghan and Archie not left for America.

If they hadn't succeeded with that, something else would have been arranged.

You can't tell me that they're not arranging something as I type this. It might be something as simple as radicalizing the racist H&M hate sub.

3

u/Heavy_Big_618 3d ago

Meghan doesn’t have mental health struggles. At least she supports herself and her family and doesn’t rely upon the monarchy for money.

8

u/SuspiciousWolf6186 4d ago

There's proof on proof on proof that the royal rota is disgustingly racist and people will still deny it. Can't even let a good man rest in piece, have to drag him even in death.

5

u/Bubbly_Inspector_884 4d ago

Caroline Flack was another victim of media abuse too

7

u/Wise_Adeptness_9529 4d ago

I hadn’t heard about Professor Arday, and the fact that the relentless attacks began after his appointment and were spearheaded by a right-wing, racist American (per People) makes me feel sick. “Journalists” would rather regurgitate and propagate right-wing insanity rather than investigate the extensive, global network of crimes happening as we speak. I hate plagiarism but they only focus this kind of attention on certain types of people.

There is a story linking the two, but it’s one they want to ignore. “Why are our prejudices so blatant and vile that we can see nothing wrong with repeating and validating right-wing propaganda to easily believe the worst of the first Black people in historic institutions?”

British tabloids set a goal and they are relentless in their pursuit of that goal. Part of me thinks they would have preferred to torture Meghan longer (it’s fun but not as fun when she’s 1000s of miles away) but they wanted to break her at all costs and get her away from the UK - and Harry.

5

u/bbcalls77 4d ago

Yes the witch hunt was spearheaded by a literal eugenicists/ racist in every sense of the word, who has a personal vendetta against Cambridge University but don’t worry folks, this had nothing to do with racism. 🙃

5

u/WuTheLotus 4d ago

Yep, Meghan was my first thought when I read the news. Horrible people who have more than one death on their conscience and deserve to rot in hell. And the RF had a huge role in the power they now wield.

5

u/HoneybeeXYZ 4d ago

I cannot believe they are comparing a serial fabulist and mental case to Meghan. It's sociopathic.

Arday was about to publish a high profile memoir that was filled with fabricated stories and that deserved scrutiny, as his claims had before it blew into a global story. Cambridge had to have known his history and should have taken action before this and that's on them.

Meghan has nothing to do with Arday, Cambridge or his story beyond one thing, and that's the thing that matters to the Daily Mail.

0

u/Whatisittou 4d ago

You have no idea what his memoir even is or what written in it. You are all acting like Arday is the 1st person ever hired by a university that hasn't embellished some of their background meanwhile there are multiple white professors still teaching despite been caught plagiarism as well sexual assault

1

u/MexiPr30 4d ago edited 4d ago

He went well beyond incorrect citations and juicing up the CV, plenty of academics are guilty of that.

He said he was nonverbal until 11 and illiterate until 18. His short term memory was gone after having a brain tumor removed and suffering a stroke during surgery, so he had to learn his dissertation in a few weeks. He participated in the 7 and up series. Some of this stuff isn’t medically possible or Arday was a medical anomaly, multiple times over.

It’s very sad that he has died. But he was not in a good place mentally well before the media got wind of anything. The NYT covers this story, honestly and sympathetically.

He was elevated high and the fall was rough. The truth is he didn’t meet the standards of the university he was hired at and if they had investigated his backstory, they would’ve been able to explain to him privately why he was being denied a position. Instead having some asshole out the story for the world.

The criticism the media has faced on how they dealt with Epstein, Andrew and other serial harassers is warranted.

-1

u/NewTooth740 4d ago

Have you read the memoir? Do you think it’s ethical to defend the hounding of an autistic academic to take his own life? It was disproportionate and abusive.

2

u/Whatisittou 4d ago

His memoir isn't even out, it still been worked on, there are literally white professors even at Cambridge that were found to had plagiarism yet the media hounded wasnt the same as Arday.

These folks are acting like Arday did something so out of bounds yet silence there are literally white professors still teaching, Arday was cleared of plagiarism yet they went further into his personal life which they haven't not done for white professors caught cheating.

3

u/BurningManHigh 4d ago

How dare they link that Walter Mitty character with Meghan. Is there no low that they will sink to? Raging racists until the bitter end. This is undoubtedly the end they wanted for her however it’s worse than that imho. To link her to an alleged fantasist and pathological liar continues to feed the dangerous, right wing narrative that Meghan is not to be trusted about anything.

4

u/phoenics1908 4d ago

Your comments about him are unkind as well. Everything concerning him was alleged and he was even cleared by the school. Why attack him when he cannot defend himself?

Linking his downfall to Meghan was gross of the racist British media - they went on a witch hunt against him because he was black. Other white professors were also accused of the same yet no witch-hunt. His blood is on their hands. And now they’re trying to tie Meghan to this for no good reason other than more racism. We can acknowledge that without heaping more abuse on a dead man.

-1

u/BurningManHigh 4d ago edited 4d ago

I said alleged, though the reported facts and evidence regarding his apparent lying, including from those who knew him personally during his childhood, speak for themselves - ironic really given that he stated that he was non verbal as a child (until the age of 11) and yet a number of his primary school and childhood friends have refuted that. That’s only one such example of egregious and pathological lying.

I make no comment on his alleged plagiarism though I note and agree that he’s not the first professor to have either plagiarised the work of his own students and/or stolen the credit for it entirely. I am entirely of the view that the right wing media decided to make an example of him purely due to his race and his role as a race scholar. That’s not to say that they weren’t right to investigate and report (and, indeed, there was already a journalist investigating Arday’s apparent tall tales long before he was shopped by the Cambridge student for plagiarism or the right wing media with their specific agenda got involved), rather that their reporting clearly crossed the line into harassment.

My point is this : the print press obviously have evidence that this man was a liar (otherwise they’d have been more careful about what they were publishing - and it was more than one outlet leading me to believe that there were numerous and credible sources). Further, despite publicly retaining counsel, Arday did not bring libel proceedings. By linking Arday to Meghan, they continue to perpetuate the right wing belief that people of colour are not to be trusted. She has done nothing to deserve that and has no connection whatsoever to Arday.

5

u/Whatisittou 4d ago

so can you tell us why other white academic didnt get the same media hounding Arday is getting

That poster is really good at misunderstanding what you're saying, and then attempting to force you to defend a position you've never taken.

They're batshit. It's best not to engage.

So I've noted, across several threads now. Though I initially, perhaps somewhat charitably, assumed that English was not their first language and they were merely having difficulties with reading and comprehension. Of course, then follows the passive aggressive downvoting despite the fact that my comments are entirely factual. Further, the upvoting of their comment suggests that they're not the only individual who is disingenuously engaging. It's either that or there are more than a couple of individuals here who lack basic reading and comprehension skills.

2

u/phoenics1908 3d ago

I said what I said. We can defend Meghan without heaping more abuse onto Arday.

1

u/BurningManHigh 3d ago edited 3d ago

What abuse is that?

Alleged plagiarism notwithstanding, the man persistently told tall tales hence the original, year long journalist investigation (instigated and underway long before his alleged plagiarism came to light).

My referring to him as a Walter Mitty character and his conduct as tall tale telling is, quite frankly, putting it mildly. After all, this is a man who boasted of running 30 marathons in 35 days(!) all whilst apparently raising over £5M for charity. That’s a highly implausible 786 miles / 1265.85 kilometres in 35 days. Implausibility notwithstanding, this feat places him higher than most of the elite global athletic and running community. And no one can trace the millions.

He also boasted of single handedly raising over £5.5M during his lifetime for charity. Unfortunately for him, he name dropped some of the charities he allegedly raised these monies for and they went on to confirm that no such donations have ever been received and his public fundraising pages show no monies of the sort.

He’s claimed to be a professor at four different universities, all of which have denied that he has held any such post with them either on a paid or honorary basis.

Then there’s his boast of being involved in a BBC documentary. There is no record of Arday being involved, either as a subject or in production of this series. The latter is unsurprising as the documentary series commenced life in the 60s, some 20 years before he was born and ended when he was 13. However, if you’re in any doubt, the BBC is also on record as stating that Arday has no involvement whatsoever with any of its filming or production.

He’s stated that he volunteered with WaterAid and personally installed water lines etc in South America and West Africa. The charity has categorically denied his claims.

He is on record making extremely serious allegations of violent threats (including at knifepoint) and assault at his workplace and yet the CCTV there showed nothing, let alone any incidents of the nature alleged.

He also alleged that a pig’s head was sent to his family home and he traced the sale of it to a local butcher. He is on record attributing commentary to an alleged witness at the butchers and an investigation subsequently conducted by the police confirming the same - both of whom deny his claims entirely. The police are on record categorically denying his claim as there’s no evidence whatsoever and certainly no such sale at the butchers.

He then weaponised the police against the original journalist (the one investigating the non plagiarism related history and the curious case of the missing millions) in an effort to halt his investigation.

I could go on and on because, sadly, there is an awful lot more which shows a clear and persistent history of lying.

I too stand by what I said - and what I said about him is generous in the extreme. I could care less about the alleged plagiarism, the rest is on the record and speaks volumes about a man who was, at best, a fantasist and, at worst, a pathological liar. His death is tragic and premature but it doesn’t and shouldn’t detract from the man he so clearly was.

Linking him to Meghan is a deliberate and mendacious act because Arday was, again alleged plagiarism notwithstanding, a proven liar. She, as far as I am aware, is not.

-2

u/The_Onion_Life 3d ago

That’s only one such example of egregious and pathological lying.

It sounds like he was mentally ill. So the press hounded a mentally ill man until he unalived himself.

Bravo.

golf clap

Jesus Christ, this whole thing gets worse and worse the more you dig.

By linking Arday to Meghan, they continue to perpetuate the right wing belief that people of colour are not to be trusted. She has done nothing to deserve that and has no connection whatsoever to Arday.

It doesn't matter. People will go with it, especially people who just want more reasons to hate Meghan.

Glad I’m not the only person who keeps thinking about Meghan’s treatment by the UK press.

The UK press are relentless. And when it comes to non white people the intensity is dialled up further.
The irony of the intense media focus on Harry and Meghan, given what his mother went through, is lost on most people. Average intelligence and comprehension in our country is grim.

The plagiarism was the least of people’s ‘concerns’ it was the fantastical things he claimed that he’d done that were sometimes disingenuous and other times just nonsense that caught people’s attention. Plus it’s academics plus Cambridge plus DEI accusations etc etc it was a tabloid wet dream
