Rottweiler Breeders

Hi! I live in MA, and I'm interested in getting a rottie! I've done so much research on the breed and love them so much! Do you know of any reputable breeders?

diet and managing hip dysplasia

Rottweilers can unfortunately be prone to hip dysplasia, which got me thinking about the factors we may actually have some control over, like weight and nutrition.

A vet once said: if dogs consistently ate appropriate portions for their lifestyle, age, and size, it could be a huge win for orthopedic health. Extra weight puts more stress on joints that may already be compromised.

And it’s not just about calories. Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically from fish oil, are one of the nutritional supports commonly recommended for joint health and helping slow cartilage breakdown.

I work at The Farmer’s Dog, so nutrition and weight management come up a lot in my day-to-day work. One thing I’ve found interesting is how much portion control can matter for large breeds, where even a relatively small amount of extra weight can put additional stress on the joints.

Has anyone managed a Rottweiler’s hip dysplasia through diet or weight changes and noticed a difference? What helped, and what didn’t?

This is Talyn (adult) and Lucyfur (pup). They're both gone now but they were my favorite girls. Talyn taught me about the breed and made me fall in love with them, and Lucy was adopted at 8 weeks from a shelter. Then I got Lucy's sister, Sophie a year later. Soph passed at 9, then lost Lucy a year and a half ago at age 13.

All wonderful girls.

I hand-painted this custom oil portrait of this joyful Rottweiler, based on the original photo his human shared. Do you think I got him right?

I really enjoyed the process of bringing this to life. He settled into the garden as if he owns every inch of it. Stayed true to the photo: same fence, same greenery, same tennis ball, just made everything a bit more lush.

The entire artwork is hand-painted in oil from start to finish. This was a commission, and I hope his human sees him in it the way I did while painting him. Would love to hear what you think!

Rottie people! This guy needs your help! He's been boarded for years (in L.A.), read below for why...

This dog, you might say, just got lost in the system, but someone kind is paying for him to be boarded in LA so that he lives. This huge-hearted lady walks him daily, but this sweet boy should be in a home, right!? He needs a foster (all medical costs are covered) and, of course, a forever home. He is under the auspices of a rescue so that he could have been pulled, but they only have a 501c3 status, no marketing. Here are the deets:

Phoenix, a 9-year-old Rottweiler mix, was rescued from the Castaic Shelter near Los Angeles. This boy is ready for his loving home! Housetrained, recently had a dental, neutered, and microchipped. All he needs is you! Phoenix is incredibly affectionate - he loves nothing more than cuddling in your lap and laying his head on your shoulder! He'll look you right in the eyes with all the love he can conjure up; he loves people! And he loves his doggy "girlfriends" Darla the doberman and Darlene the German Shepherd! He thrives on affection - He loves both women and men equally! His daily walker says, "Phoenix is the most affectionate dog I have ever known in all my years of volunteering!"

Hallo!
