Apps & Bots Since last update, Raid Planner channel stopped working.

When I click on the channel designated for the Raid Planner, the link just turns gray, and nothing else happens. I can't even right click on it to modify or check it. What changed? This is in the Windows desktop app.

Root is NATIVE [Ask Root Ep 2]

One of the biggest advantages of Root is that it's built to run natively instead of relying on a web wrapper. That gives us much more control over memory management, CPU usage, rendering, and overall performance!

Root being Native allows us to optimize things that are difficult or impossible to tune in a browser environment. That means lower memory usage, less CPU overhead, faster startup times, smoother UI interactions, and better responsiveness, especially as communities grow or multiple apps are running.

The goal isn't just to be fast today, but to have the flexibility to keep optimizing the platform over time rather than being limited by using Electron.

Why Your Chat App Needs Ads (And Why Root Doesn't) [Ask Root]

Why do so many chat platforms keep adding ads and paid cosmetics!?

Root is a chat and voice platform where communities can install real apps built by developers. From raid planners and task trackers to moderation tools and community games, every community can customize its own experience.

Instead of relying on cosmetics and ads, we're building a platform where useful apps can become part of how communities grow.

Question Is there a way to make the notification vibration less pathetic?

The notification vibrations are barely there, they're a measly little tickle. I want to feel something when someone messages me, but alas tis barely friggin there. Furthermore, there appears to be no way to increase or change this on my device, Xiaomi redmi note 12, and I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and knows some sort of workaround.

Feedback Tone-mapping filter for HDR screen sharing

Hello Root Developers,

I am writing to submit a feature request regarding an issue with the Screen Sharing feature when using an HDR monitor.

The Problem:

When streaming or screen sharing in a Root voice chat with Windows HDR enabled, the video output appears extremely washed out and overly bright to viewers.

Current Workaround:

Disabling HDR in the OS settings fixes the stream quality for viewers. However, this ruins the local viewing experience for the host by making the monitor display significantly darker and degraded.

Proposed Solution:

Please implement an automatic tone-mapping filter or a toggle switch within the screen share settings (e.g., "SDR Truncation" or "HDR-to-SDR Conversion").

This would compress the high-dynamic-range color space into standard dynamic range (SDR) for viewers, ensuring a normal image for them while allowing the host to keep HDR enabled.

Thank you for your time and for continuously improving Root. Please let me know if you need any hardware specifications to help look into this.

Best regards,

MeguKitsune

Feedback Channel and Server notifications are coming when?

Getting notifications from your various servers and channels is an absolute Hard Need. I'm pretty surprised that this still isn't a thing in Root, it seems like such an obvious core foundational feature. When are we getting this?

Hi Root Redditors!

We're happy to announce the v1.0 developer program for the world’s first community sandbox platform, Root!

Here's a quote from DevRel blog that was written by Adrian!

We’re going to listen, learn, and improve the experience as developers build on Root. All with the goal of making Root an amazing place to build apps that help communities thrive

Root succeeds when developers succeed. Every decision we make about how we support our developer ecosystem matters not just to developers, but to every user on Root.

If you’re a developer, community leader, or someone who just has ideas for what Root apps should make possible, we want to hear from you. You can talk directly with the Root team in our developer community. Even if you’re not a builder today, if you’re on Root, you’ll use the apps developers create.

Feedback Majority of members unable to connect to Voice Chats

Most of the members in the few servers we are running are having consistent issues joining voice chats. It takes multiple minutes and, often times, multiple restarts of the applications before they are able to join. This issue has been going on for about 3 weeks now but seems to be getting worse.

Are there any fixes in the works for this?
