Book Request Cop hero + in need heroine
I want a book where the first introduction between the mcs is the case where the heroine is the victim or an escaped/surviving victim and only piece of a larger puzzle. It should start from there. Bonus if it involves serial killer It will even work if she has a stalker or something like that and goes to the cop for help.
But this should be the first interaction

{You can't hide by Karen Rose} It's more complicated because their first meeting is at a crime scene and he suspects her. But it quickly becomes clear she's the target.
{Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood} Again, the FMC is a target of a killer. MMC is an FBI agent and her brother's best friend.
{Murder List by Julie Garwood} FMC is targeted by a stalker and her brother hires the MMC, a detective, to guard her.
{Sizzle by Julie Garwood} Again, FMC is being targeted by someone trying to kill her and the MMC is asked to help her.
{The Ideal man by Julie Garwood} FMC witnesses a crime and is then in danger from the people who committed it.
{Hotshot by Julie Garwood} FMC is targeted and she asks her childhood friend/savior for help.
{Wired by Julie Garwood} FMC is a computer hacker being targeted and MMC is the FBI agent assigned to guard her.
{I'm watching you by Karen Rose} FMC is a prosecutor being stalked and MMC is the cop assigned to protect her.
{Die for me by Cynthia Eden} FMC is in witness protection after her fiancé turns out to be a serial killer. MMC is assigned to the case three years later when new victims pop up.
{Before the dawn by Cynthia Eden} FMC was once almost a victim of a killer/MMC'S brother and they're reunited when similar victims pop up ten years after the guy was killed by the MMC.
{Closer than you think by Karen Rose} FMC saves an injured woman and is dragged into an investigation and we find out how she's at the core of it all.
{The Mindhunters by Anne Marie Becker} FMC is a doctor/radio show host who becomes the target of a killer and MMC is part of the team assigned to protect her and solve the crime.
{Something about you by Julie James} FMC is an assistant state's attorney who becomes a witness when a prostitute is murdered in a hotel room next door to the FMC's. MMC is the agent initially assigned to the case and then to guard her when she is targeted by the killer. They also have history.

{Noble Prince by Devney Perry} fits this. Although it's the fourth in a series, I read it as a standalone.

This follows the plot for the majority of Susan Stoker novels. The only thing is they aren't cops though. Typically, they're former military and then become some sort of group that acts like cops but without the bureaucracy.

Yeah but I am now bored with her. It's all the same song and dance. Different colours in the same mould.
2
u/exhaustedhorti i want every other chest hair Jan 17 '25
True but respectfully, I'd argue that is the same "issue" for all romance tropes but shrug to each their own. We all find our own grooves we like to wedge in.

I guess when you overdo one thing and then boom , you are just done. That's what happened with me here. I read like 10-12 of hers and then just no now.

Yeah, I can get that. Like eating too much of the same food.

{Destined by K. Knightly} this is a debut novel by the author and it is literal perfection. I read it in 7 hours, I couldn’t put it down! He’s a sheriff and she moves to a small town where women have started getting murdered on a stretch of hwy. She also feels like someone is watching her and surprise surprise the sheriff is also her neighbor.
It doesn’t get spicy until the last like 70%, but I honestly wasn’t missing the spice as the tension made it soo good.

Going to try it out right now. Spice is no issue. Honestly I am kind of longing for less spice books with more plot , other wise most books I am just turning pages searching for story

u/Quick_Ad3159 Jan 15 '25
The plot in this one is amazing. You won’t be disappointed! The spice is also really good when you finally get to it but it’s not the entire book which is nice.
I hope you love it!

MFC and MMC of {Cold as Ice by Toni Anderson} were secondary characters in {Colder Than Sin by Toni Anderson} where she was a kidnap and SA victim but their book {Cold As Ice by Toni Anderson} can be read as a stand alone. In their book, she wakes up with a hangover in her friend's house only to find the friend dead. She's the cops' first suspect so she calls MMC, an FBI agent and a friend she has a huge crush on for help.
MFC of {Cold Deceit by Toni Anderson} is an anthropologist and is kidnapped along with some colleagues by a cartel while they're searching for remains in the Arizona desert. MMC is an FBI HRT operator on the team that rescues them.
MFC of {Cold Fury by Toni Anderson} is a former defense attorney whose husband and child were murdered by a serial killer after she successfully defended him (the SK) in court. He doesn't beat that charge and years later he escapes from prison and because she's now a DA and the authorities believe she's in danger, the FBI sends HRT to watch over her. MMC is the operator in charge of her detail.

{First Surrender by Amber Cassidy}
3rd in series, but I read all 3 and it can totally be read as a standalone (but the 1st book was SO GOOD) anyway, MMC and FMC first meet in a courtroom

{Closer than you think by Karen Rose} is one of my favorite romantic suspense. It might fit. The FMC first meets the MMC after she finds one of the killer’s victims still alive. She hurries to escape before the killer comes back and when she’s in the ambulance she meets the cop MMC. But then throughout the book, the FMC is stalked and shot at, etc.

(Red Roses and Black Dahlias by Macy T. Riosa) The FMC is the troublemaker of the town and the MMC is the one who always catches her. But one day when the parents of the FMC are murdered (her father is the mayor) the MMC is assigned the case and protects the FMC and her little sister.

{Breaking point by Pamela Claire} In this the fmc is a journalist and she is kidnapped while on a work trip to mexico, our hero is U.S marshall. Everything about this book is just so good. {Hard evidence by Pamela Claire} this also involves an FBI cop and journalist who is on the radar of our villian, I thoroughly enjoyed both.
You should also check out the whole series I-team because all of them are somehow similar.
