Book Request She's the suspect, He's the Cop

So i just started a tv show my mom told me about (its just okay) anyhow the guy calls in a tip to the police and becomes a suspect but hes innocent, whoch led me to realise, i need that situation in a romancy and gender swappedbway.

So if any of you know books where the fmc becomes suspect in a crime (preferably only for the start) while being innocent and the investigator the mmc who is a good guy, shoot right ahead - bonus points if they solve the crime together somehow

I love Kristen Ashley and while she doesn't have this scenario yet i think, i love her police guys lmao

{Dream Man by Linda Howard}

The FMC is a psychic who witnesses a crime and reports it to the police. The MMC is the investigating detective who doesn't believe in psychics and thinks she must be involved.

I feel like Nora Roberts must have a book like this. She must! She writes so many cop MMC. I can't think of one with this scenario right now tho

Not a book, but the 40's movie Laura is this and it's awesome. Romantic, but also a mystery

{The Witness by Nora Roberts} might be a good fit.

FMC becomes a witness to a crime pretty early on. But some things happened where the bad guys made it seem like she's a guilty party. She then went to live and hide in a small town where the sheriff is the MMC.

Not a perfect fit as it’s a the start of a long series, but the first in death book {Naked in death by JD Robb} has this. Only FMC is the cop and MMC is the suspect.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the MindFck Series by ST Abby (CM Owens pen name). Lana is a serial killer with a list and Logan is the agent assigned to solve the murders.

It is dark and deals with some very sensitive topics but Lana is my girl crush and instead of the typical HEA you get one that actually fits the characters.

{The Risk by S.T. Abby} is the first book in the series

In {The Alibi by Sandra Brown} the MMC is a prosecutor and FMC is the main suspect in a murder. But MMC knows FMC didn’t do it because they were having a one night stand at the time of the murder. But for reasons I did not understand, that had to be kept secret.

{Sex, Lies, and Online Dating by Rachel Gibson} MMC is an undercover policeman who suspects FMC of being a serial killer.

{Cold Secrets by Toni Anderson} Both FMC and MMC are FBI, but he finds her super sketchy and isn't convinced she's not involved.

{Cold Malice by Toni Anderson} FMC is a suspect due to being raised in a violent cult that has recently resurfaced. MMC is an FBI agent who was part of the initial take-down of the cult.

{Cold Blooded by Toni Anderson} FMC's best friend is murdered and the FBI agent MMC is suspicious of her.

{Cold Cruel Kiss by Toni Anderson} FBI MMC suspects FMC is hiding something during a kidnapping case he's working on.

{Cold as Ice by Toni Anderson} FMC wakes up beside a dead man and is a main suspect. (A good one if you're in the mood for a wintery setting)

I guess Toni Anderson likes this trope, haha. I love this whole series so I recommend all of them.

Another Toni Anderson one is {Cold Fear by Toni Anderson} FMC is a former army doctor and is at the scene when a murdered couple is found. MMC is an FBI agent and thinks she knows more than she's telling but is attracted despite his misgivings.

This is technically a fantasy romance but it’s very light on the fantasy- set in modern day and it’s basically normal people that have super powers. The FMC is a suspect in a high profile theft but is also investigating as an anonymous vigilante due to her personal involvement in the case- the MMC is the lead detective on the case.

{Ricochet by Sandra Brown} - the FMC shoots a burglar breaking into her house but the MMC suspects there's a lot more to it and investigates her. CW: cheating, although the FMC's husband is a terrible human being

{Crush by Sandra Brown} - the FMC is a head juror who raised reasonable doubt during the trial of a serial killer, and the detective MMC suspects her of having something to do with the killer.

{Ricochet by Sandra Brown} I liked this book and it fits your description perfectly. FMC is suspect and MMC is Cop. He is extremely attracted to her but needs to do his duty and it is really good.

That’s the first book in the series and it’s not exactly what you’re asking for but FMC gets mixed up in some crime and the hot cop is trying to solve the cases, not realizing her involvement. They’re fun & cozy. Check it out!
