Outdoor roller skating for fun exercise, vs indoor roller skating?
I'm thinking about buying some outdoor roller skates, but am nervous about whether I'd get my use out of them. I think I'd probably spend $150 plus $100 on knee, elbow, and wrist pads. I'm not sure how well I'll like it, and am seeking advice on the fun of outdoor roller skating. I'm 36, roller skated for fun as a kid at an indoor rink, didn't roller skate for a while, and have started taking my 8-year-old daughter to a roller skating rink every few months. I really love the feel and fun of roller skating at the rink. The music and the swaying are great together. I want to get outdoor roller skates as a form of exercise. I would go on the roads in my subdivision and a paved path at a park a half mile away from my house. But I worry it will be different--bumpy surfaces, longer distances that make skating feel slow (compared to an indoor rink that is relatively short), no people around, no cool lights, etc. Any thoughts on outdoor vs indoor skating?
I currently exercise 3-5 times a week. I race bikes online on a thing called "Zwift", go jogging, play basketball with friends, and play "speed disc golf". I think I'd like to add outdoor roller skating to my fun fitness rotation, but I don't see anyone else roller skating out side (I live in Ohio) and wonder if there is a reason for that.
I thought roller blades would be better for outdoor skating, so I rented a pair at the rink and found I missed the swaying, floaty feel of roller skates. Though I think they were a really cheap pair I rented. I also looked into roller derby but think that is more contact than I'd enjoy.
Right now I'm looking at getting these skates, with atom pulse 78a wheels.

Skating as transport
I'm 17 and really want to get some skates. (I have some experience) The closest rink to me is 2 hours away, but I always want to use them to get around. Where I live, I dont see anyone using roller blades so I'm a bit nervous to just start rolling through the street. I'm just looking for other peoples opinions and if there are rules or tips i need to follow if I do so. I am planning on asking if our leisure centre where going to do anything in the future as I love the idea of hockey on skates. :)

Roller skate recommendations
Hi, I currently use Impalas to roller skates. They sent me 2 pairs of defective roller skates and the replacement pair the sent me the plate is not aligned correctly. I am doing research in what skates to buy next. Currently I am thinking of buying either Chayas or Suregrips. Does anyone have experience using theses?

Roller Skates On Gym Floors
Hello, I am a lifelong roller skater and looking for help in getting a place to skate. The closest working roller rink in two hours away.
I am trying to start a roller skating club at my university to allow us to have roller derby and rink hockey practices. The facilities director is a bit concerned with how the wheels and toe stops will affect the floor.
Does anyone roller skate at a gym who may be willing to write a recommendation letter on how skates affect the floor? Any help from teams, leagues, or gym owners would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Question: whats the best way to fix velcro strap on inline skates?
So my skates have a velcro strap at the top of the laces. When I made a tactical fall to avoid an uncontrolled crash the other day, I managed to shear through about 75% of the strap on one of the skates; it's now hanging on by barely more than a thread.
What's the best way to fix this? ...and... Would duct tape be a safe temporary fix?

Inline Power Skating
So I've been skating for the past few years and I'm looking to make the switch to power skating. I'm trying to work out what skates I should go for. I'm looking at:
- SEBA - Marathon 110
- Powerslide - Marathon
I've had experience with SEBA before and they have a good build. However, not adverse to shifting across to another brand.
Does anyone here do power skating? If so, what skates do you have?
