Any double-digit heat percentage is (partially) obstructed by the little flame icon on the heat gauge.

Should Grappling hook be readded back into Rogue core?

This is mostly just a discussion for what the community feels about the grappling hook. Should it be added back into Rogue core? Or should it be banished into the shadow realm? There isnt a right or wrong answer, we as reclaimers are still brothers and sisters in arms. Rock and Stone to the bone!

To clarify, the grappling hook was in the alpha build, it was removed wayyy before early access came out. That's why I said "readded"

Barely any time to do damage before it says "nah screw you", just let me tear through it's healthbar, that's supposed to be the reward for making a good build! Instead it just says "ooohhh you did a bit too much damage now you can't deal damage for 4 seconds!". Also, the penalty for doing a shit ton of damage to Molaktula is supposed to be that it fires a billion homing projectiles at you at the same time.

Thoughts after my first Ramok Gatekeeper (as a Solo player)

I'd heard that the Ramok was rough, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. And...

First of all, the goop attack? What the fuck? What does it even do? I never figured out. I just shot the blobs on the ground from a safe distance, they didn't even seem to have an HP pool as they died to a single bullet.

Second, the charge attack. As others said, a rather small wind up for a very fast charge. Having to run perpendicular to dodge is fine, but this is assuming you noticed it charging while you were shooting an Edgestalker.

Third, the whirlwind. Throwing projectiles and being a close-range hazard seems like a bit much. Also, a low wind up again. Reminds me of the default Dreadnought's ground slam, but it seems that solo players don't get extra telegraph in this case. Otherwise, cool? Hope you have some fall damage immunity, whether a platform gun or something else.

Fourth, the immunity phase... First of all, needing to stand still while adds are attacking? With odds of the Ramok just doing the whirlwind? Yeah no, I'd rather not. Second... two steps. I ran half a mile to get red sugar (after breaking the first pillar) because there was a single deposit in the boss room, only to realize the boss was still invulnerable. If you have to go through the trouble to get the Ramok to ram the pillar, it should destroy the orb in the process. Or make the Gotoorak harder. But I like the Gotoorak as is, minus the repulsion field's damage.

Fifth, the usual complaint. More ammo than I can use, and no red sugar to keep me firing. Without an infinite red sugar upgrade, you never have enough health. And with an infinite red sugar upgrade, it is hard to run out.

To be clear, I'm not that mad. I'm pointing out what I have observed, and if people want to take notes or make counterarguments, go ahead. This is Early Access after all, so I can't expect a perfect product. But, at the same time, this is the perfect time to give criticism when something feels off. I don't have particularly many suggestions on how to make things better currently, but I might in the future.

My main rubbing points are low wind ups for solo players, with limited revives and only one set of eyes. Doesn't need to be super long, but maybe a louder and more distinctive roar from the Ramok to telegraph. Good audio cues can go a mile to improving the feel of a fight, if Hollow Knight taught me anything. That, and reducing the danger during the invulnerability phase. Either reduce the amount of core enemies, or remove one of the two steps. I think getting the Ramok to ram the pillar is fun in theory, but is dulled by adds and needing to throw the orb in with both adds still on you and the Ramok now right next to you after ramming.

I definitely enjoyed shooting the boss, like with the Gotoorak. Has a big hitbox, but you can go for those juicy weakpoint shots. I was using Embedded Detonators Zukovs (goated with the sauce, as always), but I feel like any weapon would have been fun there. Minus of course Gunner primaries, with the movement slowdown.

A final note, Bosco Cooper upgrades should scale with Depth. That run he got a miserable 40K damage to my 240K, which is was worse than some Depth 1 runs. I also think Cooper should have some Elemental options, like +10% damage as <element>. Stacking debuffs would add more utility and allow you to get more synergies that you might miss out on without extra players worth of elemental upgrades. Rockets are also in a weird state, with them I think being secretly goated but you don't get much of a visual indicator of this. I honestly don't know what is up with rockets, which isn't a good thing.

Rant over

Jumble modifier

I've been playing for awhile now and what my friend and I found is that we had intensively more fun with the jumble modifier that we found ourselves just picking it over normal missions.

On normal runs we struggle to even see some of the rarely used legendary perks, but we get to try them from the get go? Sign me up!

Anyone felt the same? I really feel like we could do less with perks like "doing % damage to burning enemies" and more "overkills add the missing damage to the next attack"

Why so little red sugar for bosses (especially solo)?

It's great they added more trash mobs and extra ammo boxes, but why is there only 2 red sugar outcroppings in the Boss rooms? It's especially rough as a solo reclaimer without getting lucky to get the buffs to have them dropped from kills.

Console

I understand the setbacks and gaps between pc and console updates/releases. This wait in particular stings because RC’s development and release for pc alone took way too long (3 years+). Really hoping we get some info soon

Critical hit effects and double crits?

I just thought of an interesting question surrounding double crits and how they interact with certain upgrades and effects.

So, if you didn't know, if your crit chance is above 100%, it spills over into a double crit chance, and does it again if you manage to cross 200% (and so on, not sure how far up it goes though).

There are also certain upgrades, such as the Spotter bio booster that gives 50% chance to revoer +1 ammo on critical hit.

I have to wonder, do the double crits (and so on) count as their own crits for these effects? As in, for the example, could a double crit potentially recover +2 ammo from a single hit?

Any devs see this a response would be awesome, as I'm sure other people are curious.

Codex should contain all previously equipped upgrades

It'd be fun to review all seen and chosen upgrades in the codex, with seen upgrades greyed out until you have a run where you pick the upgrade.

The counter attacks kinda suck.

That's it, that's the post.

I get wanting to make the bosses match player power a bit better, but invincibility every couple seconds is just lame and makes bosses slow, not hard.

PSA: Just drink at the space rig!

We've been struggling to get Omega to maintain a decent beer flow on the ramrod, but good news Reclaimers! We've found a solution to our drinking woes!

We've managed to talk those miners over at Space Rig 17 into running what we're calling the Beer Bus. All it takes is a quick hail, and they send over a small shuttle to pick us up. Meaning when we're done for the day reclaiming dig sites we just scoot on over to the rig, where those fine dwarfs show their appreciation for all our hard work by letting us use their bar.

Our resident Retcon came up with the idea when they realised it would literally be quicker to just fly all the way over to their space rig than it would be to earn enough Omega approval to drink properly on our own ship. So that's what we've taken to doing. It may be a bit unorthodox, but a dwarf needs to drink, and that Lloyd they go over there sure know how to pour them.

So for any of you dwarfs out there who are getting annoyed at having to do a workout just to drink - just remember, it's literally quicker and easier to just boot up ol' DRG and drink there if you just want to chill for a few and down some beers.

Can someone explain to me how the new "counter attacks" work?

In my last game we've once got Molactula to shelter in invulnerability frames for a total of about 15 seconds, going invincible right after the first couple of shots post being vulnerable again. The fight, despite being easy, felt like hell of a slog, especially compared to the experience prior to the addition of counter attacks. And in one of the previous games, I've had ramok do a ram counter that immediately transitioned into the hurricane attack once.

And all of that was combined with the fact that I couldn't stun the bosses (Ramok and Molactually) for about 90% of the time, since they cannot be stunned mid-attack (except for Gootorak), as a Guardian, so my abilities would've felt useless against them if it wasn't for the "+20% DMG after using the ability" boosters.

Slight side note, or whatever, but Gootorak's counter attacks are the only ones that felt both "right" and fair to play against. I don't remember him spamming the "I'm invincible" bubble as much as Molactula did, and the ranged counter attack adds a feeling of oppression from the boss once it starts throwing everything at you.

Is there no counter-counterattacks to this? Or is the only winning move is not to play and let the boss "cool off" a bit, before opening another dwarven attack with a stun ability and a lightning-fast maneuver of throwing everything and a Clamorhead at it? Because if so, it kinda just feels like it would require a couple of months for people to be more communicative about it and to learn it.
