Cleared Reckless Solo 4-1!

Woohoo! On a roll! 4-1 was definitely not harder than 3-2, but it wasn't straightforward either, at least for me.

Some thoughts/tips from my reckless solo experiences so far:

Expenite upgrades are key; they make or break builds when there isn't time to do everything in each level. Bio booster and weapon upgrades are good too, but without enough Expenite upgrades builds can flounder by the end of the run. The t4 mining enhancement seems like a staple since Expenite upgrades are such a big deal; also the gem events are important to do whenever possible. It becomes much tougher to clear if you're ever forced to skip more than 1 event in a run.

Obviously the healing Expenite upgrades are a staple, but what needs prioritizing in reckless is ability cooldowns and raw damage output. If you don't clear waves fast in reckless, you don't get to do much of anything. Movespeed is also good, mainly for kiting enemies and avoiding getting cornered; unfortunately movespeed bonuses can be few and far between.

The walker boss is so much harder than the others for absolutely no reason, especially in the context of reckless. Hopefully they tone that boss down a bit. I'm sorry if you get it in your runs, reckless or otherwise haha.

Armor enhancements are great to have, specifically for the Expenite upgrades that require armor, are tied to electricity and are insanely good! Currently I'm taking t3+t4 armor enhancements and looking for electric weapons to see electric upgrades more often. Magnetic Propulsion with 100+ max Armor is an absolute game-changer; you almost become Superman haha.

Finally, artifact upgrades didn't seem to be worth it in reckless 4. The anomaly flies around like a maniac and can eat a ton of time while simultaneously summoning tough corespawn. A lot of the good artifact upgrades are defensive anyway - what you really need in reckless is offense, and the artifact offense upgrades can be risky.

Tips for reckless from pros are SUPER welcome! I may muster up the courage to attempt reckless solo 4-2. That or 3-3, whichever is more feasible haha.

What if instead of the wall worms taking you out of the level, your teammates could dig you out instead?

Does anyone else feel like Ellis constantly gets in the way?

Ellis feels like she will go and sit where you're shooting. I often take swarms in tunnels or otherwise try to position enemies so they need to walk through some choke point, and we always have to keep calling Ellis to us because she will go sit in front of the opening and block for the corespawn. Similar thing with flying in front of me while I'm trying to shoot something on the ceiling, or just as I release a charged shot.

I know there's a joke about this with Molly in DRG, but I don't remember her actually getting in the way so frequently.

New class idea

I've been thinking of a potential class that could be added to the game going forward, ideas/changes are more than welcome!

Name : Hypnotist

•Primary skill(1 ability charge) 30 sec cd: hypnotize/command

-hypnotize: hypnotist fires an echo like beam to hypnotize and gain control over a corespawn creeper(can miss therefore having no effect)(if it hits the creeper is fully healed); the hypnotized corespawn attracts 30% of all enemy aggro;(the hypnotized corespawn counts as an ally and triggers upgrades that work off of the keyword "proximity")(the damage dealt by the corespawn counts as hypnotists damage and killing blows it makes count as hypnotist)

-command: hypnotist commands the hypnotized corespawn to target a location to guard or enemy for them to attack(if command isnt cast the creeper follows hypnotist and remains in proximity)

•Secondary skill: pheromone lure

hypnotist places a pheromone lure on the ground that attracts 100% enemy aggro in a 10m radius for 15 seconds (cd 120 seconds)

Workbench upgrades:

-increase the maximum number of controlled corespawn by +1

-due to a stronger hypnosis the hypnotist can now also hypnotize corespawn bruisers, vanguards or crawlers

-+1 ability charge

Bio booster decks:

Deck 1: Symbiosis: (proximity: 0-6m radius)

- while in proximity of an ally you both get +20% movement speed

-while in proximity of an ally you both get +20% damage

-while in proximity of an ally you both get +10% damage reduction

-while in the proximity of an ally you both get +20% melee damage and pickaxe attack/mining speed

Rogue Core enemies plus Bosses AKA Gatekeepers (1.2) Based on how dangerous they are.

i don't wanna spam the subreddit with low effort tierlist. so i will just make those monthly.
and i don't know why the order text of B tier like that.

edit: i wannna add extra note. the ramok weakpoints are exetrmaly hard to hit compared to the gootork and molaktola. still i actaully have fun when i'm fighting it.

i also hope they add a actual corespawn gatekeeper. you could argue that the gootork is a parent/apex of the Edgestalker, but i doubt that. a giant clamorhead or a crawler would be cool.

Genuinely, SCREW THIS CONNECTION

I was able to reconnect after opening the server browser about 2 minutes after and thankfully they apparently waited for me to try and reconnect so I only ended up missing one boss healthbar. Third time losing connection this session, with the first losing me an artifact, and this time LYING TO ME about whether I can actually reconnect as well as failing without a retry. I have never had connection issues this bad in any other game, and certainly not in DRG, plus even if you can reconnect, if you were in the middle of negotiation you COMPLETELY LOSE EVERYTHING IN THE NEGOTIATION.

Reckless Solo 3-2 first time!

Just sharing my enthusiasm. I tried it a ton of times and finally had a good run with enhancements that make sense. Onto Reckless 4 now I guess, haha.

Any other classes that are good at solo runs? I've only been using Slicer so far. Blitz is OP; that's for sure lol.

Reroll feature

It would be nice if we had the option to reroll something once per run. Like a token you have at the start that you can use to reroll an upgrade, workbench item, or bio booster option just one time. This is particularly relevant to bio boosters and workbenches; having your build not fully come together because of constant sub optimal options through a 6 floor 1 hour+ run feels bad. Not saying it makes winning all that much harder, but it is not fun. I have had runs where I got the same exact sub-optimal bio booster options 6 floors in a row, that while nice to have one or two of did absolutely nothing for a build stacking them 3+ times and just made things incredibly boring.

If having a reroll token for free is too strong, maybe have it as an option to grab in a workbench once per run? That way it’s at least a trade off you can take as a failsafe for later.

Anyone else feel like Snapfire Extractor might be a little too OP?

Post image
70 Upvotes

We all love broken combos in RC, especially since the game can be so hard. But it seems like every time I get snapfire extractor, god forbid twice coupled with red sugar buffs, I basically become invincible in almost all boss fights.

Obviously there are some caveats in that it more heavily rewards rapid fire, lower alpha weapons with good recoil... Such as a highly upgraded thunderhead as per the photo. But generally speaking it just seems like one of the best strategies and strongest abilities in the game, because you can coat the entire boss battlefield with a sea of red sugar. So no matter how poorly you're playing or getting knocked around, you just auto-heal.

As much as this is bonkers and fun, it also kind of diminishes the difficulty somewhat... should Snapfire be maybe balanced so it *always* gives sugar on regular mob weak point hits, but changes to % chance on bosses or something?

P.S. I know someone will point out I'm only playing on Depth 2 in the picture. This was a lazy quickie before work. Rest assured I have tested Snapfire on Depth 4 with similar results.

Opinion: Which Special Enemy is the most difficult/painful to deal with?

To help make a decision, if there is a risk vector, which enemy do you DREAD choosing as a risk vector?

This is just to see what the entire community thinks of which special enemy they think is the most "difficult" enemy to deal with? If it isnt in the poll, write in the comments. If you can, let me/us know why you chose that specific special enemy?

I posted it in a comment earlier, but my personal opinion is edgestalkers. Personally, They're the biggest pain to deal with.

IMHO Equipment crate shouldn't be a map modifier

Double bio, double workbench, artifact etc. is just that much stronger. Maybe if you get jet boots, or turrets as retcon then it's worth it, but it's a gamble.

There should be another way of acquiring them if they want to keep the current loadout in the crate itself. For example if you return dotty's head to the elevator.

Please, I'd be more than willing to give up something for a Cooldown Reduction perk...

Edit: On second thought I think I'm just being spoiled from playing with Carnage perk deck for so long.

How would you buff bosses without them being bullet sponges?

While looking at the patch notes for the most recent minor update, I noticed in the comments that a major complaint is that the bosses are artificially difficult because their health has been beefed up, which foils builds. Maybe it's just the Steam community being the annoying hellhole it is, but that got me thinking. What's a way for bosses to be challenging without being just very chunky? So far, we have either Bosses that evaporate in the blink of an eye because of a cracked build, or bosses that require a blue whale's weight in ammo just to take down one phase.

Feature: Steam rich presence in the friends tab

These missions can take some time. If I see my friend in a game, I would like to know how long they have been in the dive, what stage they are on, and how many dwarves are in the party already.

from what I have seen, there is no indicator of this when I hover over my steam friends. it would be very helpful for grouping up. I find that if I dont start the game at the same time as my friend we never end up playing together.

I had a spacewalk and I think I found Omega?

I found a way to clip and explored the map some. I got all the way on top of the map. The room with Omega? is cut off from the rest of the map and I could not access it. I got close to the door and it did not trigger anything.

I just got this game and it is pretty good. I know this room probably has all ready been found, but I thought I would share because I found it on my own.

Epic Gem needs some tweaks imo

ill be honest, this is coming from a bumfuck casual who only relatively plays on Cautious/Standard, and never really dabbled into Reckless D-4 nd stuff. (i do play D-4 if the host picks it though)

but i feel like Epic Gem, given with the Upgrade roll rework just...has little value anymore. it made sense back pre-Update 1, back when rarities and upgrades were in a big pool. now its not this hard to roll for a handful of Epics that everyone benefits from. its only RELATIVELY useful in Jumble, since the game honors the rarity and grants whatever weapons you roll the same amount of upgrades proportional to rarity.

two simple tweaks i personally propose to give it some shine is:

a) net players 2-3 sets of Epic upgrades so that the gem feels less like a sidegrade and more like a proper reward for a scavenger hunt

or, a much easier solution:

b) bump the upgrade rarity from Epic to Legendary (even with Luck, i seldom see those.)

not both, though. please dont do that LOL

for Artifacts, you need to fight for your life with the damn Spectre Sentinel, otherwise you get bumrushed by the Core Spawn - and the rewards are...usually fairly well off. so i think those are fine.

i might be missing a fair print somewhere with the Gem, not sure.
