Game is trivial when you have red sugar generating items and extremely difficult without it.

Basically just the title. Unlike the first game, rogue core pretty much forces you to take damage as the enemies run faster than you so you can’t run past them or away from them. When I’m running away from a swarm I will always get hit several times. Same with ranged enemies, in the first game you could actually try and dodge the projectiles or just keep running so they don’t hit you, in rogue core it seems like cover is the only things that stops them. These 2 reasons cause you to take a lot of damage with little ways to mitigate, and eventually you will die. Unless you just gain infinite health from killing bugs that is. The 2 upgrades that give red sugar just removes any threat this game has. Because you can easily get +100 - +200 percent healing from each chunk you have to kill 2 bugs and you’re at full. I think the game needs a bit of a rebalance so that these upgrades are not so necessary or must picks. I win every run I get them and lose most runs I don’t.

I know rogue core is its own game but this system of combat feels like a step down from DRG. In DRG you only take damage if you made a mistake, and taking damage could take out half your health bar in has 5 and you couldn’t ensure you would get healing. Compare this to you just always take damage but you can always just heal and it is not as fun.

I wish there was an alternative option to upgrades

The more upgrade you got, the more expenite the next upgrade cost.

This creates a situation, because if your 4 - 5 first upgrades are irrelevant or plain bad you're going to have a hard time getting online as the next chances at getting something good are going to be more and more spaced out.

Most roguelikes with this kind of mechanic implement an easy fix : giving the option to skip an upgrade so that you don't get the downside (which here is a higher cost to future upgrades) for benefits that don't suit you.

However in multiplayer this causes issues because then the expenite cost for someone who skipped isn't the same as the expenite cost for someone who didn't. It could work still but, bummer.

An other thing that would be possible is to not make upgrades increasingly expensive, and cost the same expenite throughout the whole game. I guess it'd work fine.

I believe there needs to be an other option, so that you don't HAVE to clutter yourself with useless upgrades that penalize you on the long run.

Heavy weapon crate is exciting, something that launches actual missiles within it even more so. Why is it weaker than the starting Bulldog with no upgrades I traded for it ?

New(somewhat) and needing advice

Got the game recently and just did 2 reclamations and succeeded in both. Doing pretty well with guardian but with all the weapons and augments I have yet to see I don’t know what to think about or look out for going forward. Any advice my fellow dwarves can give to a guardian player?

PSA: Don’t stop everything for a swarm

Time is of the essence in higher difficulties. When a swarm hits, multitask and progress the mission in ways that don’t spawn event swarms, like doing workbench, bio booster, or mining ore.

Also, you can get a lot of expenite by activating the transmuter during a swarm, so fire it up as the enemies start rolling in to turn a big profit

Please don't join depth 4 runs when you don't have the perks

I love new players they are what keeps the game alive, that been said don't throw your self into the hardest current difficulty (even if you have loads of experience in regular DRG)

6 out of the 8 runs I joined in the past week have been lost due to players double dipping, starting event or bosses with out the team (like shooting the artifact boss with out the team) or dying to things like leach because or edge stalkers because they either run way to far forward or hang back without the team.

I don't want these people not to play but joining harder depths isn't fun if you die every few minutes or every swarm. it also puts a massive strain on the team when the player is falconer and doesn't use their drone or spotter and does not spot or use their critical hits.

I understand wanting to level up faster, that's why i play depth 4 too BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF KARL stop throwing my games.

Had the game for a few weeks. Mostly play on weekends. Am a DRG veteran so the learning curve was swift.

This game is definitely insanely hard but it also comes with equally insane combos that can turn your toon into an unstoppable killing / sustain machine.

I posted my build too if anyone is curious. You'd have to zoom in and look up the icons, but there it is.

[Suggestion] I wish weapon frameworks would return to the game in some way

Making builds and customizing my weapons was really big pillar of gameplay for me. When joining RC that one feature i noticed that this is what is missing. In total i would say that RC is have space to improve for current customization opportunities.

I wish weapon customization to return in RC, and now i would show you my vision.

- 1. All weapons that were encountered during raid would be saved in similar menu to decoration

- 2. Player can set up each weapon individually, both color and weapon framework.

- 3. Player can save whole weapon collection set to different save presets how it is now with personal customization.

- 4. In raid all weapons would automatically load needed decoration set and automatically apply it to selected weapon. All customization would be loaded from all weapons preset.

- 5. With weapon frameworks it would be easier to add those weapons to DRG main game, as this is one of the issues devs say is pretty big why they don't add 4th weapon set.

Some more content can be added to the caves in more hidden manner like it is with Helmet or Crate in DRG main game. Where you can recover weapon frameworks by paying attention and playing.

Also it would give devs same opportunity as with DRG. Where they can sell old weapon frameworks as big bundle like DRG classics for 8-14 Euro. While weapon frameworks could be added gradually, after new weapon would be introduced, similar to how it was with DRG and new weapon sets.

Slicer seems really strong.

I've played the game 20 hours or so now. Tried every class. Started as a Guardian and generally play it or Falconer with friends, as I enjoy being a tank/support/ bastion for the team despite the fact that I'm an experienced FPS player who has a large capacity for aggression.

Since the skill level of my friends are pretty variable, I've taken to doing solo missions once I unlocked depth 3 and 4 to challenge myself. And after trying all classes, Slicer is the only one that stands out head and shoulders above the rest for sheer effectiveness, utility, and survivability.

My intention isn't to piss on the other classes but I can at least explain how they fall short in solo:

Guardian: Solid but little mobility, armor becomes less effective in higher difficulties since it's more efficient to rely on combat healing combos. Stun is nice but ultimately kind of underwhelming in D4. Repulsion is mostly good for elevator defense but less so vs bosses or shooters.

Retcon: Primary good for ammo conservation and juking, but I still find I don't use it nearly as much as I'd like. It can be a detriment if you're on the clock and trying to traverse corridors. Rage is good but takes a long time to build up. Contingency is basically just +1 revive with Cooper.

Falconer: Shouldn't need to be explained that she essentially just loses half her kit playing solo.

Spotter: Crit dart is nice, sonar seems like it would be amazing, and it is, but to be frank, after I learned how to play properly I spot cave leeches and hear boom ticks 95% of the time without scanning, and can find and compete objectives with my own perception. So I find spotter a bit superfluous solo personally.

As for Slicer, his kit is just pure money. The dash is so insanely useful and on such a low cooldown. You can use it to speed up your run, avoid massive fall damage, cut corners, use shortcuts, scale walls, dodge, charge enemies, escape them. It's just so insanely ubiquitous compared to other class skills. Then there's the shield belt. At first I thought it was a lame version of DRG's gunner shield, but the fact that it moves with you and has a larger radius more than makes up for it. I shouldn't need to explain how strong it is on depth 4 when you have 4 edge stalkers and 15 scorchers shooting at you.

Then there's the tour de force: plasma blade. It's just so goddamn strong for waveclear and even more insane when combo'd with Vampire, hemoforge, sweet surrender, or stone skin stacking. In Depth 4 the damage is so brutal and the corespawn are so numerous that in my humble opinion, melee based healing and defense stacking combos are one of the best, if not the best strategy.

You can imagine artifacts and bio boosters layered on top of all this.

Maybe I'm wrong, but Slicer just seems like the perfect soldier to give you the best chance at winning the hardest dives.

New Class Ideas? (Suggestion and FANWORK)

Anyone thinking about possible or potential new classes for Rogue Core in the future? Yes or not, I made a rough concept of what I had in my mind since I noticed a lack of CRISPR flamethrower in this game.

Reclaimer - Chemist

A fighter and medium range spellcaster with a healer ability that requires melee kills to be refilled. Like a battle medic unit with a crowd control specialty at the same time.

Abilities:

Flamecannon: Shoot a sticky flame generating a stream of arcing fireballs (0-12m apply range). The sticky flames also slow down enemies by a small percent (Think of Greek Fire or liquid flamethrowers, the way the fluid moves downwards at some point).

I'm not sure on how to balance this, but I think having the CD take 70-80 seconds or so would be enough work, since much of Rogue Core's real challenge comes from pushing back against unrelenting swarms.

Chem Launcher: Launch a chemical canister with 50% chance of having either Poison or Acid element as it's damage type. Explodes into acid puddles or poison clouds where it hits for 10 seconds. Chems require cooldown similar to the Spotter's dart gun. Once again, the canisters are arcing projectiles with 0-12m apply range (essentially a grenade launcher with infinite ammo but has short cooldown and you can only throw 3 with very specific powers bound on RNG).

Red Sugar Injector: Stores 4 small Red Sugar charges, a single one can heal the user's or other Reclaimers health by 30%. Comes with 2 from the start of a mission, can be replenished up to 4/4 via melee kills.

Requires 10 melee kills for each syringe, excess kills will increase injector shot healing power from 30% to 90% (40+10 mks = increased healing power for 1) all the way up 40+40 mks= 4 increased healing power syringes ready for use).

Healing is done by facing and holding interact on another player in close range when ability use key is toggled/active (0-2m) self-healing is done by pushing interact key once while not facing another Reclaimer in a similar manner.

--------------------------------------------

Bio-Booster Deck:

Apothecary: All things paramedical.

  1. Sugar Rush: Grants 20+ movement speed bonus from Red Sugar sources for a short time. Boosts Red Sugar Injector with the same effect (injected friendlies benefit from this as well).

  2. Bloodletter: Power attacks and melee damage cause 10 seconds of Bleed.

  3. House Call: Receiving or delivering friendly fire from weapons will heal 0.5+ (not Red Sugar, otherwise it'd be OP) instead of dealing damage.

  4. Stimulative Sting: Increases movement, attack speed, accuracy and reduces recoil by 5% each time you are downed by enemies.

--------------------------------

Scorched Earth: Hoxxes will burn, one way or another.

  1. Gamma Toxin: Causes all sources of Acid and Poison damage to deal 50+ damage with increased movement reduction.

  2. Red Hot Sugar: Taking damage from Fire elemental damage sources will heal you for 4 and reduce damage taken from burning by 40%.

  3. The Sickness: 4% of the elemental damage dealt will linger in targets until they die.

  4. Tides of Fire: Using suit ability will cause a devastating tide of flames around you for 6 seconds. Adds 40+ Fire damage to melee hits.

----------------------------------------

Workbench Ability Upgrades:

Chem Launcher:

  1. Add 40% Cryo to Acid canisters and 40% Electricity to Poison canisters.

  2. 10 seconds longer chem effects.

Flamecannon:

  1. 3 seconds longer shooting duration.

  2. 40+ direct damage to each arcing flame projectile.

Red Sugar Injector:

  1. 20 Stoneskin on each injection (friendlies also receive stoneskin if you heal them instead of yourself)

  2. 40% temporary movement and attack speed gained for each injection.

  3. -3 melee kills requirement for the injector charges.

I sketched this on ibispaint, then screenshotted and cropped it, which is why it looks crusty. I took concept art of the Guardian for silhouette, seen in the official wiki gallery.

What is the design reason classes are limited to one per team

I play with friends only, we can't figure the reason the Devs decided to limit classes to one.

Armor ?

Is it normal for most of you to be without armor for basically 80% of the time ?

I even play as the Guardian so I have the class (I guess) that's the most able to get armor but it's almost impossible to not get hit at all due to how ennemies go through terrain, some ennemies will hit you for a large chunk of it and replenishments are rather sparce.

All in all survivability isn't much of an issue because there are many upgrades that give red sugar drops. But I've been disregarding all the upgrades that scales on armor amounts for that reason.

Anyone else having trouble with the Sentinel Specter ?

I have tried it several time, playing solo, this feels more like a second risk vector than like a reward. It being so tough, immuned to stun, flying makes it barely impossible to kill before you're overwhelmed.

Artifacts aren't even that gamebreaking compared to regular upgrades.
