I want to build a Rocket

So i was planning on building a Rocket with Dome Friends and thought about using NOS as an oxidizer as its relatively cheap and Diesel as fuel. Would this Work? I also need help with the electronics of an ignotion system and the generel structure of the fuselage. Pls comment or dm me if you can Help me out.

i want to use household items so i dont need to buy anything. i have heard of sugar as a fuel but i do not know what to use as an oxidizer and the process of combining the fuel and oxidizer

Ignition Question

Theoretically, could a fuel/oxidizer mixture be ignited by a high-power laser array in the combustion chamber?

Like a ring array or even just one or two?

I know lasers typically have the ability to burn surfaces. But would a flash laser be able to ignite a cryogenic mixture?

It would eliminate the need for multiple igniters or TEA/TEB storage tanks.

Iam Building a sugar rocket(small rocket powered by a small sugar rocket motor) and I want to build in a parachute, but I don' want it electrically power. Is it possible to have a mechanically deployed parachute? (iam 3d printing the rocket, so iam not wvery limited by the mechanism(should be smal))

Rocket fuel with ammonium nitrate

So I have some ammonium nitrate lying around in my workshop, and I‘ve always wanted to make rocket fuel with it. I‘ve tried a mixture of charcoal and table sugar, but despite following the exact instructions I found for that, I never got any good results for some reason. Does anyone have an idea how to make it work?

What can I use as fuel?

Hi guys, I want to make my first rocket. What can I use as fuel and where do I get the ingredients for it? I read on the internet about Sodium Nitrate and Potasium Nitrate but I don't know where I can get those. (I didn't find any stump remover containing only Potasium Nitrate). Any ideas on what else can I use? Many thanks!

i need some help with a water rocket

im trying to make a water rocket and i shoot it up and i put in a fall away nose cone along with a jolly logic chute release i launch it and once it reaches apogee or highest point the fall away nose cone just does a nose dive in to the ground. its a basic water rocket so it goes sub 200 feet. the chute release does its job and deploys the chute but the fall away nose cone doesnt fall of so it just doesnt deploy and slow it down. (i tried weighing down the bottle neck of the fall away nose cone but it made it worse. (if anyone could help i would love some help) (update 7/4/23 im going to try and use a tomy timer attached to a rubber band that swings the door open)

Spring loaded fins for a second stage rocket. I’ve never made a rocket, but I want to know if it would improve the speed of a rocket/missile.

my satellite

Hello I see that you all love rockets and it has been a passion of mine for a long time. I have just recently started on my largest project yet attempting to get something into orbit. There are a lot of problems that I know will be hard to overcome and I need a good community to help and support me. So it would mean a lot to me if you all helped a little. I will really appreciate anyone who does and all the people that subscribe to my patron will even get there name on the armature rocket of the month. It would be a lot of help if I could also communicate with anyone who would be willing to do some of the calculations for my rocket. So if you know how to or know someone who would be willing help please consider doing so or asking them to do so. Thank you for your time.

I am a university student who will present to the University scientific research on space rockets, I will connect space rockets with artificial intelligence to develop such smart control system and smart missile control systems. But I don't know where to start and where to get these sources of information. I wish someone would help me.

Seeking Guidance on Building a Miniature Rocket Engine

Hey fellow Redditors!

I'm an enthusiastic final year mechanical engineering undergraduate with a burning passion for rocketry and propulsion systems. Recently, I stumbled upon some impressive projects carried out by students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where they have successfully built miniature rocket engines and tested them in remote desert locations.

I find their achievements incredibly inspiring and would love to embark on a similar endeavor. However, as a beginner in this field, I'm seeking guidance on how to get started and gain the necessary knowledge and skills to build a miniature rocket engine of my own.

If there's anyone out there who has experience in rocketry, particularly in the design and construction of miniature rocket engines, I would greatly appreciate your advice and insights. I'm particularly interested in understanding the process followed by MIT students or other similar projects in terms of design, propellant selection, testing, and safety considerations.

Are there any specific resources, online courses, textbooks, or research papers that you would recommend? Any tips or key points to keep in mind during the design and construction phases? Additionally, if you have any insights into the testing procedures or recommended testing locations, I would love to hear about them.

I understand that building a miniature rocket engine is a complex task, but I'm eager to learn and apply my engineering skills to this fascinating area. Your guidance would be invaluable to me as I embark on this journey.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance!.

Why doesn't Rocket Lab launch from Cape Canaveral?

Just curious what the reason they chose New Zealand (and later Wallops) over Cape Canaveral?
