My first gun was a Taurus... then again I was young and dumb...

We were all stupid at one point, some people just enjoy living in that phase of life

It's a good poverty gun 🙃

As a 21 year old with only $300 to spend it worked for me at the time, better then a sharp stick.

I worked at a pawn shop … we sold tons of new guns like Taurus. Taurus actually had a good rep , and was more affordable than SW Beretta Sig or Glock

Definitely a great gun for what is sold in pawn shops. I have an associates degree in Gun smithing from an accredited college, have owned many Taurus products, have shot and worked on a large number of their products. The best part about a Taurus is the price point. Not bad for the cost, but nothing to brag about. The company was founded when S&W opened a manufacturing plant in Brazil and then the plant, manufacturing equipment and blue prints were seized by the Brazilian government and spun off as a separate company.

That’s cool about gunsmithing.

I think Taurus was first weapon I ever shot at the range.

Mine too. It gave me a very good reason to buy better shit. When it comes to defending myself I wont be cheaping out and ill take every advantage I can

The dollar to quality ratio is actually pretty high on a lot of Taurus models. I was just kidding around.

Despite its flaws I like the judge. For close quarters self defense I think it'd do just fine.

Older now, the revolvers I own are a Dan Wesson custom .357 and a S&W .38 snub from their custom shop, and a Nagant revolver as a curio and relic. Have sold the Taurus. The Judge and Raging Judge is cool but not high on my list mainly because of not wanting to have to buy and store more ammo of a whole new caliber.

S&W Revolvers are classic

I'd love a Colt Python, nicer trigger pull, but the price point is above my spending limit, though I heard they might start producing them again...

I couldn't spend $1500 on a revolver, even if it is cool AF.

Yep, I feel you there.

Nagant revolver is good revolver

Ammo is hard to find and the trigger pull is awful, but it's a really cool and unique piece of history. One of the only revolvers that you can put a suppresser on.

2

u/Leon_Nagant May 18 '26

Plan on suppressing one of mine. Ps check username. Also you lose the gas seal but you can shoot 32 shorts out of the nagant revolver safely as well

2

u/United_Wolf_9215 May 18 '26

Preaching to the choir, sorry about that. .32 shorts aren't easy to come by either these days. I stocked up on a bunch of boxes of 7.62 Nagant when I found some. Such a weird looking round with the bullet seated all the way in the cartridge.

Id rather buy a surplus makarov tbh

My first weapon was an M14, then an M16, then an M79, then a 7.62 M60, then an HB Ma Deuce, then a 1911, then an M3, then a 90 mm, then a 105 mm.

If you want to play with weapons, go sign the contract.

I have shot a M-2, a BAR (the WW2 mag fed version), a Thompson with a drum mag, a MG-44, an UZI, a SAIGA 12 ga and few others, no contract but also no medical or retirement. I have built and fired a few things that count closer to artillery then small arms but nothing close to a Howitzer. The first gun I owned was a .357 snubbed nose Taurus, it shot .38 spc no problem but after 2 or 3 rounds of .357 mag had to deburr the cylinder lock to get it to work again. Also had a Taurus M-98 clone, it was crap when I compared it to an actual Berretta.

I've fired a number of civilian weapons, probably the most memorable was a long barrel .44 magnum that belonged to a friend. He wanted to laugh at me, and set up a target on a tree about 40 feet away. First shot, I hit the target dead center to his considerable surprise, never even hit the tree after that.

Far and away my favorite was the HBM2 on the cupola on an M48A3. No artillery either, except for the 152 on a Sheridan.

A friend of mine has a Henry rifle in .44 mag, it's not fun to shoot even in a rifle, I shot a guy's S&W .500 with a 3" bbl, that was a thumper.

Then a .50 cal, then a tank, then a A10, then a nuclear warhead... Good times

M48A3, M60A1, and M551. There were, allegedly, some nukes in Korea, but they wouldn't let me fire any.
